Synopsis

College student Yuuhi Amamiya's monotonous life is turned upside down with the appearance of Sir Noi Crezant, a talking lizard claiming to be a knight of justice. Crezant elaborates that the world is in peril—threatened by the mage Animus who wishes to annihilate it with his Biscuit Hammer, an enormous structure suspended in Earth's orbit. As the newly appointed Lizard Knight, Yuuhi must fight alongside other Beast Knights to protect the princess and save the planet from destruction.

Unimpressed by the prospect of risking his life, Yuuhi continues his day as usual—until a golem created by Animus suddenly confronts him. Yuuhi is instantly overpowered, but his neighbor, Princess Samidare Asahina, luckily rescues him. To his surprise, Samidare's intention starkly differs from Crezant's; instead of saving the world, she aims to destroy it with her own hands. Captivated by her firm ambition, Yuuhi resolves to become stronger and help Samidare realize her goal.

As the pair continues to fight against Animus' golems, Yuuhi finds himself gradually gaining an interest in life—but the chains of his past trauma may restrain him from progressing further.

Background

According to a 2015 Twitter post by the series creator Satoshi Mizukami, an anime adaptation of Hoshi no Samidare was initially planned to be released shortly after the manga's serialization, but the project failed due to a lack of sponsors.

The series was released on Blu-ray in four volumes from October 28, 2022 to April 28, 2023.

Bottom of the Biscuit Hammer Barrel.

Studio NAZ doesn't have the best track record when it comes to making anime. Although it does have the genuinely amazing Sabikui Bisco firmly in it’s win column, it also has that anime about the loser who accidentally gets himself a cinnamon roll gal girlfriend and spends the majority of his time trying not to cheat on her (the dub is admittedly hilarious), and that other anime about the sister who writes about wanting to fuck her brother, and who’s source material and production was so awful to work on that the animation staff added a literal plea for help ...

Preliminary (7/24 eps)
Since MAL has cunningly started showing review ratings at the very bottom, here's mine - 8.
I've never read any of the long reviews on this site, thus not interested in writing one.

Story & Dialogue - Great. Awesome concept, dialogues, story, as well as the jokes.
Animation - Yuck. Though I understand it's been made by a starting out studio, the animation is barely bearable. Extremely jarring at times, to weird transition of characters.
Sound - Sometimes decent, other times, not so much. Didn't feel the tension during some of the fight sequences, though it could've been coz of a combo of sound and animation
Characters - Don't quite ...

--This is a spoiler free review--

At first glance, Hoshi no Samidare looks like your average show. However, in reality, the show is actually pretty good and creative. It's about a story of a boy named Yuuhi who is just your average boy. However, he soon gets chosen to destroy the biscuit hammer because a knight that turned into a lizard (Noi) has chosen him to be one of the people to destroy the biscuit hammer.

To be honest, the premise is a unique setup that isn't a low effort copy from your usual Shonen. When you look down at the story, it's actually pretty good. ...
