Koi wa Sekai Seifuku no Ato de

Fudou Aikawa and Desumi Magahara have just started dating, but no one is allowed to know! Nicknamed "Red Gelato," Fudou is the leader of "Gelato 5," a group of heroes dedicated to protecting Japan. On the other hand, the "Reaper Princess" Desumi is one of the combatant leaders of "Gekko," an evil secret society bent on world domination and considered Gelato 5's greatest foe. As they pretend to be mortal enemies, Fudou and Desumi sneak away from battle to spend time together.

Despite their inexperience with romance, Fudou and Desumi strive to make their relationship work while avoiding suspicion from their comrades. With their loyalties divided between each other and their respective sides, the couple will have to stay on guard if they want to keep their love a secret from the rest of the world.

This anime kicks ass. It is cute, nicely animated and just a solid watch. Great job from the dub cast! An excellent 90's style rom com. Holds up to multiple viewings. Characters are adorable. Sound is solid. Music is extra silly. Side characters are well done! Every episode is just warm and cozy vibes.

Fuck the haters. This show is adorable, but I actually wish it offered some more episodes to wrap things up. Both of the main characters are entertaining to watch together. This is just a good time! Grab a blanket, eat ... some pizza and stop worrying so much.

Mixed Feelings

I felt like I was watching the anime the anime character is supposed to watch inside the anime itself to avoid copyright laws.

The overall concept is great, but it's an anime heavily dependent on interesting and unique characters, which becomes a problem when the characters have little to no identifiable traits and are just bland, boring, and cliche. There really isn't anything inherently wrong with this show, it's just your generic romance, and there are some instances where it is above-average in the entertainment department, but they never did anything to flesh out any aspect of the series. Not to mention, the conflict between Gekko ... and Gelato feels more like "we're gonna spar in public but frame it as hero vs. supervillain so we can do what we want without regard to public safety" rather than an actual fight between good and evil. From the world-building to the characters, there's nothing special about the series and it has very little unique qualities. Desumi is the only character that has notable depth, but that actually becomes a con when you feel the contrast between her and every other character.

The only episode that sticks out is episode 7, which focused on the fact that another member from Gelato knew Desumi when she was a little girl. Because the episode was revolved around Desumi and that member, and the member's writing in this specific episode actually made him feel like a well-rounded character, it was the most entertaining in the series for me. However, you know something is wrong when a show fleshed out characters so poorly that it took 7 episodes to properly introduce one of the protagonist's direct allies and, even after, you still don't remember his name.

Unless you really like watching generic romance animes or are as patient as me and give shows a lot of leeway if you like the concept, I wouldn't recommend this show, but I still have very mixed feelings because its flaw is unoriginality and blandness, not that it's bad.

You know what? It really had me on the first half.

I love leg kicking romance, y'know? The giggly kind that gets me rolling in my bed. This was just that for about six episodes where these two were evolving in a cute, albeit, very immature anime-fyed relationship. Yes, forbidden love, one of my favourite romance tropes when done right, but I could say that about anything.

I'll say, this felt like a well-realized, first-time double autism romance, instead of a naive couple. I liked it, and It would be fine if it stayed that, but evolved, and made sense, yet, this one doesn't do ... that. The story eventually becomes pure forced conflicts that don't evolve the relationship, which I deeply hated.

Instead of both characters having the reigns of it, the world starts trying to put a foot on it. I'd hope this would make both the characters take good choices based on these things which they experience for the first time, but everything fixes itself repeatedly.

This is a 12-episode story, and it decides to turn into a serial for the latter half, until choosing to do the “before finale, forced separation”. About the worst trope (for me) that's almost always in every romantic / slice of life anime.

I hate the last episodes, boring as hell, cliché in a bad way, annoying in a worse way. It was fun while the good lasted, and a stinker while the bad endured.

4/10. Half a fine anime. That's all there's here.
