Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko

Not fully sure what to say about this show in truth so far. Not that it is a bad show, but wouldn't call it great either. Let me explain.

We're treated to another usual kind of Isekai kind of story. With how it opens and such. Random person comes out of their live, and ends up being summoned here for a particular reason. You know the usual. Though what I do like about this one, is that it seems more chill than normal. More calm and relaxing then would you say a Re: Zero kind. It's an Isekai you'd want to have happen to you in ... truth. So it's different in that regard.

The characters are pretty nice, they each have their roles, and duties, and so far again it's been pretty relaxed. So far that is, though I doubt they'll change too much. Unless something major happens. Everyone seems genuine, happy, or in a getting along camp without any sort of conflict. The MC in general whom as per usual when comes to Isekais in terms of coming from a usual bad background, or died and got summoned here, had a same sort of fate, or least fitted into that bracket, but more he was just an ordinary person. it's pretty standard.

The art style may reflect that, as it's bright, colourful, and doesn't seem like any dark kind of tones that would normally be there, to let you know that something might be up. It's pretty, and it's good. Much like the sound, it's nice and pleasant for this show. The animation too, it's good, even the creatures so far aren't poor looking at all, all fairly decent.

I wouldn't say this show will stand out amongst the rest, it's more chilling and uplifting kind of show. But wouldn't call it great either. If I could give it a 6.5 I would. Give it a shot I'd say, it's a fairly decent show.

As a manga reader, this adaptation was both nice to see and a bit disappointing. The manga is full of world building, lore, character growth, and some pretty good action that all get cut for the anime.
They had a clear goal in mind for what point to end the season. It's a logical one, and they keep the pace pretty consistent. However, to get to that point, the show skips so much that it feels like parts and entire characters are missing.

For example, the manga has a mini-arc and fight scene in the mines that's completely skipped. It's one of the only times the protagonist ... actually gets angry, which is also shown through his brutal attacks, and you learn more about him through the interaction. Skipping that fight makes him seem extremely bland and emotionless, and it's like if Dragon Ball skipped the first time Goku got angry and wrecked his opponent.

Thankfully, the anime does keep most of the important and slice-of-life aspects, such as his relationships with the ducal family and learning magic. It also keeps a calm pace throughout, as opposed to rushing like most Isekai, due to all the story skipped.

Long story short, it's a decent show if you want something more relaxed. If you want more, or are at all intrigued by the premise, consider giving the manga a read as well.

Ahhh so we finally see that adaptation of Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko and in all honesty its a bit... disappointing. I really wish they were given more budget cause animation/art is truly where this show trips up.
Story and Character: 6 Honestly it hasn't changed much from the manga, many of the characters are still pretty likable and the story overall is a very enjoyable smooth ride with the character's main goal to enjoy life as much as he can in his own way cause god gave him a 'trial' in his previous life which made it suck. Which sadly brings to one things I dislike ... about the story which is that they got rid of a lot of the MCs inner monologue which made him more of a likable goof than just a boring isekai protagonist.
Art: 5 First of all I want to say that I actually like how they adapted the slimes, their very pleasing to look at with their soft see through colors. What I don't really love is how undetailed and flat everything looks, their was a good amount of detailed shading in the mange which made these initially simple character designs look more pleasing but without that detailed shading a lot of the characters come off as very flat and less expressive. Even the magic looks so... unimpressive.
Sound: 8 Most of the sound design is fine but man is it weird that the kids inner voice is well the kids voice, I really thought it would be the older voice for those blackflashes and at least swap between them but no. Makes the blackflashes come off as kinda weird.
Enjoyment and Overall: 6 Honestly I didn't really love watching this other than for seeing the slimes in action. If anime is how you like consuming the medium than I would still recommend this anime to you. It will bring you through a light hearted story with a very likable cast of characters (including a MC with a very relatable and interesting backstory that allows for a lot of wholesome moments) and also has the fun twist of focusing on different slime species and what the main character does with them. But if you can I would highly recommend you check out the source material as I think it does a better job at just making the story more interesting, with better art, more detailed character moments, and overall better pacing as this is not an anime that benefits from having to meet that 24min mark, with most of the inbetween time focused on flat boring animation with dialogue.

The outro is the only good this about this show. The story is quite boring, art is quite fair, but I do not enjoy, waiting for episodes to come out: as this is a show I could watch and forget in a heartbeat. Search for the outro of this show, that's all you need, I recommend just brushing past this show. Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko is quite awkward to watch, and makes me crease with every fibre of my being.

This anime is pretty much one big ego stroking exercise and there's pretty much no actual story or plot. Pretty much the entire show is just everyone gushing over this kid and how amazing he is and how he can do all these things they've never even seen before, he even has three gods watching out for him.

I rated it a 5 but only because it's easily bingeable. I wouldn't say it's boring per se but there really is no plot. People find kid, take kid to a city, people leave. That's literally the entire plot. Everything else is just messing about like 12 episodes ... of filler.

The protagonist has no real goal, is doing nothing to work towards that non-existent goal, has no real challenges to overcome, everyone loves him and is super kind to him and is friends with him. From that perspective I would understand people that think the anime is super boring.

To me it seems sort of like a fantastical fairytale trying to appeal to the super overworked office workers in Japan constantly on death marches to try to convince them if they're good little workers and try their hardest they'll be rewarded by the gods by getting isekai'd into a fantasy world with no worries where everything's perfect and they're amazing. Blegh.

Don't get me wrong I love me some completely overpowered protagonists. But at least have a freakin' story and goals and actual character development and challenges to overcome. Every character in this anime is forgettable. Know how many names of the characters I remember? None. Literally none. Not the protagonist, and not anyone else either. They're instantly forgettable. And it's not because the MC's an OP Gary Stu. Anos from Demon King Academy is too, but I really enjoyed that anime and actually remember the character - and that's just one example of animes with OP Gary Stu MC's.

To understand my rating, for me 5 is completely average. That means it's pretty meh but it's easily bingeable and has a decent enough enjoyment factor. A similar anime that isn't bingeable that I just feel absolutely exhausted trying to watch, that will get a much lower rating depending on the extent of combined factors in addition to that sad reality. In many cases I'll end up dropping them entirely if it's exhausting enough. 5 is pretty much mass produced garbage but easily consumable. You're not gonna like it all that much or even remember it or ever even think about it but it gets the job done.

Also I'll say this anime seems super predictable. I'd be really surprised if the MC doesn't end up with the cute little girl. Well, that is if it ever even gets another season. I wouldn't give it one if I were a production company, personally.

This anime is the same as other isekai anime, there are many stories like this, but what makes this isekai anime good is isekai anime which is slime and family-friendly so if you watch this anime with your family why not. and also safe enough to watch with young children. Unlike other isekai anime which is given the harem and ecchi genres, it is not bad to watch with the family because there is no blood here and this is like a slice of life.

The visuals and graphics of this anime are pretty good and the art is pretty good too. For Character and others, ... naturally, I don't have many people to talk about, so usually and I also enjoy it quite a bit because I'm an isekai lover, although I prefer that kind of action.

To be honest, this show is just your feel good show for the end of a stressfull day.

It's rather slow paced and doesn't contain much action. It's not bingeworthy but rather digested in small episodes.

MC is a guy who is rewarded with a nice second life where he can do whatever he feels like after probably working himself to death in his previous one. He gets to live as a child again and while he has strong powers in all categories, he spends most of his time alone in hte forest.

And he choses to collect slimes.


But since plot has to happen ... a group of adult adventures find him and take him to the city where he interacts with real people for the first time in years. There he gets interesting jobs, such as... opening a laundry business.

There is no depth here, just good vibes.


6/10 good as an antidepressant

Kami-tachi is a bit of a difficult show for me to review. Overall, I was impressed with the show and, during the early stages, was even convinced it'd be one of my favourites in the last year. So then, "why is it difficult to review"? Well... You know that feeling you get when you really like a story and it's turning out way, waaay better than you could have ever predicted or imagined, but then after becoming disillusioned, it starts to resemble what you initially expected & seemingly drops the ball for inexplicable reasons?
You know that unreasonable spite you feel towards it, no matter ... how self-aware you are that it's not the story's fault for any resentment you feel from the resulting emotions? Well yeah: Kami-tachi did this to me, so despite me being really happy that I got way more out of this show than I ever expected - especially after reading the source-material recently by coincidence - I'm still left this this bitterness & confusion over how exactly an 8/10 piddled down into a 5/10 in such a smooth and effortless manner.

Welp, let's break this down~


The show started off extremely strong - and I really mean that. By rephrasing the source content in an extremely-proficient manner, it managed to even out-do the manga by how it maximised the advantages of a medium with sound, colour, and flowing visuals at its disposal. The show started off so strong that, up until the 5th weekly release, every episode had me either shed some tears or just outright cry from how expertly and convincingly they delivered the backbone of our protagonist's hardships - including the caveat for the show's title. By this point, I was honestly giving the show an 8/10 and even defending its criticisms online (boy, did those memories age well...), thinking "this show was hand-moulded for adults like myself who have overwhelming sympathies for the regular & mundane stresses of a soft-hearted & well-adjusted (for better or 'worse') man's life". Wholeheartedly, I was singing praises for the entirety of the production through these episodes as they felt like not a single element had been overlooked nor neglected - be it the music, the sound effects, the simple gestures often overlooked in cheaper productions & the body language in even mundane scenes, the choreography, or even just 'ambient music' in the background. Of course, even if the production was making many subtle changes to the source material by this point, it didn't feel like there was cause-for-concern yet as it'd all worked out for an impressively-articulated story thus far--but ya know, there was a commonality between all the "artistic liberties" made thus far, and that was called 'Family Scenes', which brings us to the crux of both 'what this show did well' and, simultaneously, 'what this show really needn't have done at all'...

You see, the whole backstory of our MC, going by the 'source material'*** [NOTE FOR LATER], is that: here you have a guy who's pushed by society & those close to him (with the exception of his mum) to conform to a life that generally contradicts his nature as a person - often as a result of mistreatment from either the people around him that are meant to care for him, or from society itself misjudging him as a result of all the metaphorical "scars" that he's built up from the bombardment of [not-so-much "his"] life.
Honestly... this may as well be hand-crafted to trigger male-adults as it's pretty hard not to empathise with one aspect or another of his tumultuous journeying (and thus why I found myself with a wet eye or two by the end of every early episode). The thing to note here, though, is: 'his Redemption journey' and 'his character growth' aren't strictly related to just the 'Family Scenes' in the source material, but more the product of everything he's meant to experience. Due to this somewhat "oversight", though his Redemption Arc starts off strong, we aren't yet to know that it'll run into some troubles down the line.

Still though, by this point, the production and staff had really shown off exactly how "well" they understood the source material and how invested they were in telling what should have, by all rights, been just a 'mediocre isekai'. The music, scoring, and sound effects were, as I said earlier, on-point and fit the scenes and themes perfectly, right down to even the ambient music that was only meant to function as a sort of "glaze" for binding visuals and dialogue to the 'fantasy-paradise theme'; the scenes that weren't meant to have much going on in them even had subtle embellishments like facial movements to indicate 'body-language', along with a certain-amount of attention even paid to sprucing up exposition or mundane dialogue; heck, I could even tell that a decent amount of work had gone into the pacing of the Story-Boarding as there were a lot of subtractions and additions from the source-material that didn't feel arbitrary in the slightest.

All of the aforementioned was certainly above-and-beyond what anyone could expect from what anyone was expecting--but, sadly, the part where I say "all good things must come to an end" unfortunately is occurring well-before the finale of this season...

What started as 'revisions of the source material for perfecting delivery' soon turned into something more likening to... "the departure of a muse"? Honestly, if I was told that their director and/or the majority of their scripting team was switched-out at around the mid-way point of the series, I'd buy it without question. Changes to the source material began to be detrimental to the story, the pacing of the show shifts from 'something akin to Redemption' into "Anime-Wholesomeness Incarnate", and the Story-Boarding very-obviously takes out much of the in-dispersed "Pallet-Cleansers" that the inherent story used to balance all of the themes in order to keep things fresh.

Here's some examples: one of the consequences of readjusting all the focal points to be on the "Kami-tachi ~Family Experience~" is that, our protagonist comes off almost-entirely as a 'reactive' person who's incapable of being proactive let-alone accomplishing anything on his own. See, even if the narrative phrases his past-life as an overall negative experience, it still uses it as a justification for why he's so "physically-capable" - something that was lost with the adaptation here. This omission doubles down on itself as a 'mistake' when most of episodes 6 through to 9 repeatedly shows an "awkward protagonist" who is shaped by the words of those around him without anything but exposition and awkward, deflective chuckles leaving his mouth. With all the 'cannon' action/adventure scenes relinquished from their significant roles of demonstrating both independent decision-making & consequences for such, it instead feels like a protagonist that's being led by the nose into wholesome environments rather than someone who's earned the life & connections they wanted--which normally would be a forgivable oversight in most stories if it wasn't for the fact that this entirely contradicts the essence of the core narrative, "to live your life the way you want to - being yourself, your best self". Even if this adaptation is more 'concise', it really suffers for it.

Another example: remember those *** I left earlier? Yeah, those were because the anime leaves out the entire latter-half of the MC's backstory, that which outlines a rather significant part of his relationship with his mum as well as how his life turned out the way it did in the long run--they entirely left out his dad. Even till this point, I'm wondering if I'm somehow just mistaken about the order of events in the source-material, because "suuureely they wouldn't just skip probably the most significant part of his life's tragedies"?

Like I said, just as how they omitted nearly-all of the 'combat-orientated' events and character-building of our MC, I got the impression that they swept the entirety of the source-material with a biased lens of "wholesomeness & family", as all of the material subtracted from the show all pertains to 'combat', 'emotions of aggression & healthily resolving such', & 'being an independent functioning member of a fantasy society who is capable of independent, proactive action'.
Vice versa, they pulled in later chapters that involved 'in-adverse socialising' and 'family'. Although I can see why they did this, the problem was that the original story never opted for this pathway because of how imbalanced it made the development of our MC--so even if I can "understand", I also "absolutely disagree" with the final concoction.

... Speaking of final results though, I might add: none of my critiques are really aided by the fact that the 'finale' of the season, the last 2 episodes, essentially feel like a single episode that's stretched over double the time. Especially regarding the final episode: the tone, humour, pacing & patterns of dialogue, even the fundamental story-boarding, it all feels completely unlike all 11 preceding entries. Heck, if I were to use one word to describe the final episode, it'd without-a-doubt be "ham-fisted" - be it the entire script, or just the sudden appearance of 'romantic humour' that hadn't been apparent anywhere else in the season. If I wasn't immersed in frustration during Ep 12, then I was cringing - there wasn't much between, unfortunately. Terrible way to conclude an-otherwise decent season...

All in all:
The changes that were made did lead to a tidy season that finalises our MC's Family Arc, but since it neglected so much of the "hand-in-hand" maturing-elements of our protagonist as well as a the alternating tonal themes that were meant to keep all of the narratives fresh & away from repetition, we instead got the metaphorical equivalent of a "circular sculpture that used to depict a detailed face, 'refined' merely to resemble a perfect sphere" - sure, things ended all nice-and-tidy, but boy did we lose a lot in the process...

By Isekai standards, this show is decent and it's still worth a watch, especially if you're not familiar with the source material--but certainly, even if I remember this show fondly, I'm still going to be upset in imagining exactly how great of an Isekai Masterpiece this could have been.

Tl;dr It's not bad but it's not good either. If you go into it blind to what it is than you'll probably mildly enjoy it than forget it but if you were expecting something more than just read the manga because this is a clear case of the manga is MUCH better.



So why is the manga better? for the same reason that this anime is just disappointingly average. The first 2 episodes fallow the story flow but kind of gloss over some pretty big pieces of the set up to the series. And as the episodes progress you might notice, there is a strange lack ... of character depth to Ryoma. He just seems like a generic cheat archtype. Nothing about the skills that he has is really explained in the anime as it is in the series and much of the humor and jokes stemming from Ryoma's memories of earth are completely gone leaving the series with a distinct lack of humor. More over, Ryoma's behavior from episode 1 is on par with his behavior in episode 11, the brief exposition about his child body affecting his adult mind is completely moot because of this, with no significant changes to be seen where as in the manga we clearly get scenes where we see Ryoma clearly losing control of his emotions on more than 1 occasion BEFORE the exposition about the mind/body conflict. None of the characters really get any flushing out like they do in the manga. You don't get to see Reinhart go merchant mode over Ryoma's creations, you don't get to see Elise act like a doting mother(who probably wants to just straight up adopt Ryoma into the family), you don't get to see Eliaria as the excitable and precocious child that she is, all of the characters just lack the part that makes them stand out and memorable. Other parts of the show are outright changed like the Latrine Pit plot lacking in exposition of the problem and the large amount of character building with the side characters during the plot point. Like how, in the manga, Ryoma meets the adventurers in groups over the course of the day with exposition(and comedy) about Asagi, then with the beastgirls and their connection to Mia(and her garbage house), then Ryoma and Raypin nerding out over monster research. The Iron Mine plot is also drastically different both in its initial presentation and the goblin swarm. Same with the Laundromat building plot.

That's why this show is just average; because if you're familiar with the content already it feels like bare minimum plot retention as it tries to sprint through the season as a time slot filler. The anime blazes through roughly 30 chapters of the manga, each chapter being nearly 40 pages, in about 8 episodes and the majority of the content of those chapters is completely lost. The art style isn't bad with the exception of the occasional goofy face but it tries really hard to stand on the merits of bright colors rather than expressive and memorable characters. The audio is decent but also doesn't really stand out in a memorable way. And while the OP is just not good, the ED at least tries to be more memorable but the tone of the rock style track clashes horribly with the rest of the music present in the show and because the ED is kind of a highlight of the beastgirls(who lack the exposition they get in the manga) you're left kind of wandering why make them the focus of the outro other than just saying "Hey! Otaku like beastgirls!"(Which isn't necessarily wrong, but kind of obnoxious in its forced presentation).

If this show was 24 episodes long, it probably could have been taken slower and more of the necessary character development and plot could have been added, but its only a 1 season series and you can really feel it in the anime. Moves through the story too fast, discards too much that is suppose to endear the characters to you and changes the plot so that everything feels like it was all trivial to deal with just to fit inside of 12 episodes. I'd give it a lower score but really it doesn't deserve a 4 or lower based on my own expectation from what I've already read. It's not bad but it's just not good. I know what its missing and even if I was ignorant to it from episode 1 it doesn't do anything that makes me want to talk about it. Just finish it so I can move on to the next one and go back to reading the manga.

The usual repeated reincarnated boy gets OP MC of course lacks the originality, special powers across the magic area, and piggybacking off other successful slime animes.

As much as this tries to be different, hints of a few animes rolled into one of course are going to sit in many eyes, but they try and be creative, with varying slime types, and how they evolve much like another anime, where they were created for a certain purpose, think it was in another world with my smartphone

The anime overall also tries not to play on his strength all the way through and works with his brains ... on developing skills, opening businesses, and not just purely using his brute strength as an 11-year-old to solve everything We get demonstrations of his skills and knowledge, but a story is built underneath.

We see the usual corruption and how the local duke solves it, we see friendships built even if due to his strength, a hint of romance with the duke's daughter seeming more interested than a clueless MC, and we see a lot of people trying to help, and some profiting a'la bookworm invention style.

It's a nice little story, the characters aren't the greatest, but is a pleasant enough story to keep you going along, fast enough in pace, but not too fast to struggle to understand

This is a nice anime to watch when you feel like kicking back and relaxing, it has a very chill vibe, and just all around wholesome. I absolutely love the main characters attitude towards his powers, and I enjoy his interactions with the other characters.

However!

I feel that some scenes happen too fast and it can be quite jarring, I understand I have a bias in this though, because I pretty much created my own tempo by reading the manga.

I also feel like the anime hasn't done the art in the manga justice, although it's understandable, I feel like it's a missed opportunity. I feel that ... somehow, the slimes feel less cute in the anime than i find in the manga, it's just my personal taste but the animated version definitely doesn't appeal to me.

Overall though, I think my minor issues with the anime just comes from reading the manga first, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

This is your generic isekai type anime, where the mc gets transported to another world. At first, I thought this was kind of unoriginal and going to be very similar to others like it and it turns out it is pretty similar, this anime was pleasant to watch and was quite an easy-going experience but I feel like nothing really happened and everyone was too surprise about things that don't seem that impressive to me, perhaps in their world it's all amazing and such but taming some birds and learning a couple of spells seems pretty normal and boring to me. I feel like this ... anime needs something gritty, maybe if they added that he was a complete pervert it could be entertaining but that might ruin the kid-friendly vibe seeing as he used to be a 39-year-old man and I can see how that would be wrong in many ways but if they could just something to change it, to make it stand out. Everyone is too nice and nothing bad ever really happened which made it quite slow-moving maybe in future episodes when they've grown up a little it will become more exciting but for now its just your average kid-friendly isekai.

Well mc was good. Enough to make me sticked to the anime till the end ! The rules of the world is loose and favours mc which is kinda make the story lame in comparison to adventure and fantasy genre but it's good in the department of slice of life genre ! Well i liked it though as the trauma of watching rezero and rising of the Sheild hero were being healed by this light hearted fantasy anime ! The romance between mc and FMC was a breeze as the story just gives hints to it that's all ! In the end the story just ... ignored it and pushed it for second season ( god knows when the second season gonna come ) intially at first I came here by watching the word slime as i though it will be similar to that time i got reincarnated as a slime anime but it is not and i am kinda glad as there are no sad moments like that one ( am not saying that that time i got reincarnated as a slime anime is a bad one just there were deaths in first season which was somehow uncomfortable for me at that moment) i guess giving spoilers of other anime in current anime doesn't count spoilers right !? If not then I apologize !

I came into this anime with low expectations for the normal isekai and op main character. I got that, the problem was that everything was dull and tranquil. I wanted to see at least one decent fight or one on one and that didn't happen. This show's art just kept getting worse. The main character went into a new world and basically tried to make it like his old boring life.

The biggest problem with this show is that the main character is basically supposed to hook up with his friend who is a girl. That alone wouldn't be a problem, but the main characters are ... 11 years old, and that just feels WRONG.

By the Grace of the Gods is just your average, wholesome Isekai. Do not come to this show expecting a brilliant fantasy story or something that will blow your mind like Re:Zero and the like. That being said, this show is quite chill and makes for a good thing to watch when you do not feel like getting invested in a great story.

The general plot is much of the same that we've seen in many other Isekais. An overworked, under-paid salaryman (Ryoma Takebayashi) dies of a ridiculous cause and is sent to ... live in another world, only as a young child rather than an adult. He lives by himself for three years in the forest until he meets a group of adventurers in the forest, inviting them into his house and treating their injuries. Eventually, they come back to take him into the town, and the story begins. As I've already mentioned, there's nothing new or special here. Just your average story of an overpowered main character working his way up with some "comedy" (if you can call it that) scenes.

Overall, the art style is good, but nothing stands out too much. It's generic, sure, but that's what makes it great. Environments and characters alike are both pretty, and there's no awful CGI that takes away from the experience. The same goes with the music; it has that generic fantasy feel and uses motifs that are also present in a million other pieces of media. The word "generic" could be used to describe much of this anime.

However, unlike similar shows that do nothing new, there is little to no character development present in By the Grace of the Gods. Ryoma goes from over-working to.....still over-working. Sure, he learns to embrace the fact that he's physically younger and starts mentally regressing himself to coincide with this, but other than he is completely flat; and the same applies to basically every other character. I guess it was my fault for expecting character development in a show like this.

By the Grace of the Gods (Kami-tachi ni Hirowareta Otoko) is a generic Isekai that weird people will say is their favorite anime and other people will hate with a burning passion. If you are looking for something that will get you invested in the story and make you feel great emotions, then this is one to skip. However, if you're just looking for something relaxing to watch in your spare time (maybe just putting it in the background while you do other things) or in periods of time where you don't feel like watching a serious show, then by all means watch this.

there is something very wrong with this anime, it took a few episodes to put my finger on it. It's rushed, you don't have to read the LN. or manga to notice. it sacrifices character development and world-building just to hit major plot points.

this isn't the first anime to go bad in this way but it's the most obvious again you don't need to read anything to pick up on it. it should be a (daily life isekai) and far slower

What's good? the art and animation are good, it's soft fluffy and warm. but some of the CG drags that down. ... the comedy is there but muted without the world-building and development.

so in short, a rushed mess and a critically damaged masterpiece. 5/10

This anime may not be amazing, the best, or anything special. The story may not be something that is outstanding and deep on many levels, but I found it to be a very enjoyable anime that you can finish in just a few days. Many people watch this anime and misunderstand/misinterpret it, criticizing it for something it never intended to be anyway. Of course you're gonna hate it if you come in with the wrong expectations. It's a very wholesome anime and I really like the emphasis on the toxic work culture in japan, or anywhere in the world for that matter. I think this ... anime is a good escape for people who are feeling down in their life. Do not watch this anime if you're looking for something more exciting, special or different. But if you're looking for a slice of life kind of relaxing Isekai, then this anime is for you. I think the main character is a very understandable person and seeing him get the happiness he deserves. I normally do not like anime like this, but the way the anime executed the portray this seemingly basic story is enjoyable, and I think that's more important than anything. It's not trying to be something it can't be, and does that decently well instead of trying to be a complicated anime that fails due to inconsistent plot. The only thing I might criticize is there are too many characters than there should be.

I want to preface this by saying i really enjoyed this anime, im used to watching more "serious anime" so having this relaxing slice of life anime was a nice change of pace. The story was easy to follow with very little real conflict, the characters were vibrant and entertaining and was overall a pretty enjoyable Anime, However...

... Spoilers Starting below

After finishing the series and enjoying it so much i decided id go take a look at the Manga and oh my god did they miss out so much stuff when making this into an Anime, ALL conflicting between Humans as well as some pretty interesting characters were completly axed from the Anime, some of the changes make sense due to not wanting to "Waste time" such as the Mines expedition arc taking place over several days instead of everything happening all at once. the Goblin Extermination also happened completly differently in the Manga and in my opinion far better, the biggest change however came from a group of young demihuman adventurers who were following the MC's group in the Mines and taking the monster corpses they left behind due to them being weak and needing to do this to make a living, after being confronted about it it turns out these Kids used to be the people who would Clean the Public Toilets until the Nobles did their Nobles thing making that story come full Circle.

Shortly after this encounter the MC meets these children again being confronted by some of the other adventurers calling them Thieves and encircling them however when the MC goes to clear up the situation the adventurers turn out to the thieves and attack the MC and the Kids, the MC loses control of this emotions and massacres them, this is the first time when the MC notices his emotional maturity seems to have changed since starting a new life.

I guess in closing id say the Anime is good and worth the watch however the Manga is much much better.

In short, I would describe this as "a feel good" type of anime. It has a very mellow sort of vibe to it. It's something good to put on to help you relax or to just put on as background noise. With that being said, it definitely is not an anime that I would consider memorable.

As far as plot goes, it is a slice-of-life, so I would say there is no definitive goal for the MC other than to have a better life than his last. I'm not sure if this is spoiler or not, but everything good that could happen to the MC, ... does! He's almost like the chosen one or the one destined for greatness. OP powers? Check! Obtaining wealth? Check! Meeting people who genuinely love you and want to help? Check! Starting a business that is successful from day one? Check! Getting the help and admiration of almost every villager? Check! The MC basically has no issues or challenges and excels at everything he tries. Which I guess is the point of the show since he does have the gods' favor. However, there is no guessing or anticipation really for the viewer since we know that he will do well with whatever new occurrence that may come his way. Do I think having success and positivity in an anime is a bad thing? Absolutely not! I think it's refreshing and can be awesome if done correctly. This anime was definitely refreshing and pretty much wholesome to watch.

My only strife with it was that the MC is basically a child with the mind and intelligence of an adult. And on top of that, the girl MC started to grow feelings for him and he for her, which I find a little disturbing. The only grey area was that one of the gods said that he was getting "infantile regression," meaning he was gaining the mind of a child again? Which doesn't erase his former memories though.

Overall, this anime was genuinely enjoyable. I did find myself wanting to watch the next episode and see what happens next. I also found myself gushing at all the politeness that was shared between everyone in every episode. It is definitely cliché with no surprises but it does make you feel good inside. Overall rating, a (6).
