Synopsis

One morning, Nobita learns about the mysterious happenings on the Moon, where he tells his classmates that it was the Moon Rabbit, but nobody believes him. He tries to prove by imitating the rabbits by making ricecakes and hits his teacher in the process, where he gets punished. When Nobita tells Doraemon about this, who relucantly takes out "Divergent View Badge" gadget and creates an atmosphere on the Moon. Using the animal clay, they creates Moonbit and returns to their home. Later, Nobita's mother tells him to bring Susuki grass for Moon Viewing Ceremony, where he sees a boy and calls him, but the boy suddenly disappeares. The next day, a new student named Luca arrives, and Nobita gets surprised to see that it is the same boy he had seen yesterday.

Background

Nobita no Getsumen Tansaki is an original story centered around the Isetsu Club Member Badge gadget featured in volume 23 of the original Doraemon manga. It is the first Doraemon film to feature a solo female screenwriter.

My overall take: Does quite well at recapturing the vibe of classic Doraemon films.

In this movie, Doraemon helps Nobita create an alternate reality where rabbits live on the moon. If one were to boil this movie down to its individual core elements, I think they'd find very little that hasn't been done in previous Doraemon films. (Okay, having one of the movie-only characters pose as a transfer student and actually interact with Nobita's classmates outside of the main cast is new.) However, that actually works to its benefit, in my opinion. After so many of the post-reboot Doraemon movies have felt experimental in one way ...

Mixed Feelings
Doraemon, Doraemon!!! How low have you fallen. That is the saddest thing to address for me since Doraemon was my childhood and still my love, where I go to find peace and happiness.

The story is shallow as ever. The problems with movies after Fujiko's works run out is that they're so soulless. How amazing and phenomenal his world building was, always so imaginative and beyond my wildest dream, I always wanted to be a part of the never ending adventure that he drawn.
