Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia

Reviewer's note: This is my 3rd entry into the Fate/Grand Order spin-off works, but 17th in the Fate franchise overall.

✔Positive Aspects✔

◧ Animation: even though this series was created by Clover Works, it certainly follows the design standards set by the previous studios - it is based on a combination of colors of moderate to low saturation/medium to high illumination, with an ancient rural environment and vast, breathtaking landscapes that are a tad muted in comparison and against which the characters are beautifully "popping out".

◧ Character development: it took the series about ... 13 episodes before it started building the characters up. After that, it starts to successfully disentangle the deuteragonists' and the former-antagonists/current allies' seemingly conflicting motivations and intentions behind specific actions. Admittedly, the series could have done a far better job in filling in the former-antagonists/current allies' background histories, especially given the fact that they're incredibly impressive and powerful as individual characters. Also, I love the idea of many different characters, from various civilizations, coming together for a common purpose.

On a side note, I was not persuaded by Ritsuka Fujimaru's (the male protagonist) skillset and his supposed leadership prowess, and as such, I found unwarranted most of the credit that was given to him.

◧ Plot: even though the general premise of the Fate franchise is retained, magicians searching for the omnipotent magical artifact called "Holy Grail", is reimagined in a remarkably fresh manner. Specifically, one magician and his servant are traveling through time into the late-Neolithic period, 4.672 years to be exact, in order to prevent the end of humanity right then and there.

◧ Soundtrack: generally, a pretty decent one that is based on a collection of songs mainly from new age, Japanese pop/pop-rock, and orchestral pop music (slow tempo for non-combat scenes, uplifting mid-tempo for combat scenes).


✘Negative Aspects✘

◧ Action sequences: even though Clover Works is clearly influenced by Ufotable's amazing choreographies just like Lay-Luce and Silver Link before it, specifically, in alternating between various camera perspectives (first-person, second-person, third-person) coupled with different camera 'heights', the utilization of quick zoom-ins/outs, and the Michael Bay-influenced, heavily distorted & slowed down sound effects at the beginning of and moments before the impact of high-energy attacks, the end result is simply not as crisp as that of Fate/Zero, let alone that of U.B.W.

I had a genuinely hard time following the movements and the damage dealt by the parties involved in combat, which is a major turn-off for any action fan.


Overall: Despite its underwhelming action sequences, the series seems to me to be one of the better titles of the Fate franchise.

Ritsuka deploys Harem Protagonist EX

So LA will get LA's own credentials into FGO so you know what LA knows before LA started watching Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia. So LA watched the first Fate Grand Order First Order OVA, then got into FGO (EN) after it was released but LA more or less skipped the story and played the game mostly F2P and even though LA skipped the story (that will uhhh affect this anime in a good way), what LA got out of the gameplay and it's ... characters is why LA got to still playing the game, HECK, LA started playing FGO on JP, that's how great FGO has gotten to LA.

So with that out of the way, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia is the 7th Singularity of the Main 1st Arc of the game and it's one of the fan favourite Singularities thusly why this even got an anime. Yes, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia being the SEVENTH story might think it's only "for the fans" and yes it could, but with how isolated this Singularity is while only having a few rare plot points/scenes are linked to the latter and previous Singularities, but it doens't affect the main plot arc of this anime.

Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia is focused on Ritsuka Fujimaru voiced by Nobunaga Shimazaki along with Mash Kyrielight voiced by Rie Takahashi going into the Babylonia Singularity and in finding the Holy Grail (What the previous 6 Singularities also did) to fix the singularity in question. This time in Babylonia, Ritsuka and Mash comes across Gilgamesh voiced by Tomokazu Seki as he commands the city of Uruk and the Absolute Demonic Front and the last stand of humanity. But upon meeting Gil, Gil ALREADY has the Holy Grail, however there is greater threats looming other than magical beasts, a Goddess Alliance and one of Gil's past shadows arises and the singularity is still hasn't been fixed.

Ok, there's lots to get through so let's start with characters. For the most part, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia brings in some character we pseudo-knows but "different", like Gilgamesh and Ishtar voiced by Kana Ueda with Gilgamesh not being the world's annoying bully, but instead Gilgamesh is now or to be more precise, before Fate/Zero is the commanding yet overworked king, where Ishtar a Mesopotamian goddess using Rin Tohsaka's body but personality-wise...is Rin Tohsaka. If people have watched First Order then Ritsuka and Mash are pretty much the same, BUT if anything Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia gives us ALOT of development to the both of them. With Ritsuka as the player surrogate but for a player surrogate, he has his own personality, he doesn't want to hurt anyone but ith the position he's in and the threats looming in, he HAD to fight even though he doesn't want to. Yeah for a player surrogate he is quite developed and yeah on the other side of things about Ritsuka and played ofr laughs is that he unintentionally caused a harem of servants in the process what with his personality and all. But to this, Ritsuka helps develop the servants one way or another like Mash and her dilemma of being a demi-servant with not much time left and Ritsuka comforting but her thus develops both of the simultaneously. Something the game would just gives us two choices that slightly changes the personality of Ritsuka, but here, we have the steadfast Master, sorta white knight but when push comes to shove, he will stand his ground, what with being the "last Master" left in humanity thus to save humanity he needs to sacrifice his pacifistic nature for humanity. Mash aforementioned got alot of development as what the singularity brings and wrings out affects Mash, for being a demi-servant with not much time, to humanity itself having not much time left what with both the Incineration of Humanity AND the threats against Uruk all happening at once, Mash can occasionally ties into the theme of Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia of losing and gaining hope for humanity.

On the minor character side of things, though there is ALOT of characters in this Singularity from Ushiwakamaru voiced by Saori Hayami, Leonidas I voiced by Shinchiro Miki, Quetzalcoatl voiced by Aya Endou, Ereshkigal, Ana voiced by Yuu Asakawa, Siduri voiced by Yumi Uchiyama, Benkei voiced by Tetsu Inada, Enkidu voiced by Miyuki Sawashiro, BUSTER MEMES Merlin voiced by Takahiro Sakurai and the aforementioned Ishtar and Gil all having a bit to play some more than others but if anything ALOT of these minor characters have their time in the limelight one AWESOME to heartbreaking ways to another. Due to how hectic Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia was with it's plot points and how it dealt with it in a small arc basis, for the most part, the majority of the cast along with Ritsuka and Mash are developed extremely well and played their parts well.

And that worked because of the animation and voice work done on Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia. Let's start off with the animation done by CloverWorks. CloverWorks OUTDID themselves with the animation, right down the expressive characters animation, to the batshit insanely well done and polished battles. CloverWorks outright did amazingly well in on this front. With a little bit of trivia is that some of the ALOT of animators famous or not were pretty much "Promoted fanboys", where they were given some of the favourite moments of Babylonia to animate!, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia wasn't only for the fans, it might as well of been animated BY the fans. CloverWorks once again strikes again and outdid themselves in the animation department.

As for the voice cast, the voice cast were amazing as well, form Nobunaga Shimazaki as Ritsuka, Rie Takahashi as Mash, Kana Ueda as Ishtar, Tomokazu Seki as Gil, Yuu Asakawa as Ana, Takahiro Sakurai as Merlin, Yumi Uchiyama as Siduri and Saori Hayami as Ushiwakamaru LA might've given all of them MVP's as well as many others. LA REALLY can't say much cept praise this voice cast and LA can't even pinpoint LA's MVP, there's just so many good voice actors in Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia, it's THAT good.

Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia for long time Fate fans gives us differing perspectives on certain characters or characters in new roles, the biggest in contention is Gilgamesh himself as in Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia he's the commanding, inspiring and a somewhat caring King of Uruk trying to save humanity unlike his Fate stay night counterpart and Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia will develop him into the loving, commanding king he is and to the point of Tomokazu's laugh as Gil becomes infectious, if you'd hated Fate/Zero's Gil, then you'll love Caster Gil. The other prominent one would be Ana who is pretty much a younger Medusa so we get to see the side of her when never really got from Fate stay night.

With as much praise LA does give Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia there is ONLY one nitpick LA has to put on this anime and that is near the ending it does kinda rush it, but to this defence, LA can see why trying to put in a mobile game visual novel anime adaptation to a 21 episode anime, things are gonna be left out and the such and even then , the rushing kept mostly in line with the story (which I know thanks to other FGO Youtubers) so the rushing wasn't a HUGE detriment one way or another.

Now Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia does take some liberties in what some of the game's visual like pacing was given and sometimes even surpassed some scenes in this regard because of the limitations of the game itself, thus animating it and seeing it much more detailed and visually just made the experience MUCH better in this regard. On the other side, the other liberties Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia was given in it's anime form was that some scenes were either omitted for good reason thus padding out the mundane tasks of the game or changed in order to make the plot progression easier for the audience. So either way even though Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia changed or taken liberties with certain scenes, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia did it for the better experience and naturally made the plot progression easier.

Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia is a mobile game adaptation for the fans, by the fans and it bloody well shows with how great the quality from the animation, voice cast and the great plot of Babylonia itself. Yes the battles are some of the best highlights of Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia but another strength is that of it's characters and how well they developed not only the characters but the relationships between Ritsuka and his Servants helped immensely with this anime. Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia was an amazing experience for LA and LA WISHED LA didn't skip the story i the mobile game because of it, but nonetheless seeing Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia animated and what it gave out, Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia was pretty awesome and quite obviously might bring in new players because of this anime, thus Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia did it job and quite easily exceeded LA's experience tenfold.

For LA Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia opens the gate to FGO's other singularities to maybe be animated and with the Camelot singularity announcement to be animated to a movie, LA wouldn't mind an Epic of Remnant anime of Salem or Shinjuku or maybe a long form OVA of the Fate Extra CCC Event and the rumors of Fate strange fake, the possibilities are endless and Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia opened it and with the finale hinting at the Solomon Singularity...FGO has the potential and likely CAN do it if they wanted to.

Useless Goddess Ishtar, but Best Goddess Eresh.

My most favorite game (from my most favorite franchise) receiving an anime adaptation is a blessing. To top it all off, it's an adaptation of the chapter featuring one of my most favorite anime characters of all time. Even with these standards set before I started watching, they were all exceeded by the end of its run.

I'll admit, I started FGO before the English server came out, so I was playing in a server where I couldn't read the story. In return, however, I've been playing the game for more than 4 years now and it's a big part of my daily life. I've also ... started picking up the story on my own recently, all the way to the Lostbelts. For this Babylonia chapter though, the anime is my first time going through the story.

The reasons why I loved this show are all the same reasons why I love fate in general: the lore, the action, the noble phantasms and the OSTs. However, this time, we don't have servants fighting in a battle royale. Heroic spirits unite to save humanity. Power levels are off the charts. Co-ops create interesting character interactions. Also, seeing new sides to characters we already know led to a combination of nostalgia and awe. This is the best Gilgamesh yet in all of Fate's anime adaptations. Thanks to FGO's setting where our protagonist travels to different eras, we get to gain insights into different characters' lore that are not possible in the standard Holy Grail War set up. This time we get Gilgamesh as the wise King of Uruk in his own land, in contrast to his archer form that is summoned to the modern times that earned his disgust.

The story is what probably exceeded my expectations the most. The twists and turns of the story surprised me as I was expecting a fairly linear plot of defeating the bad guys and getting the grail. How different histories and mythologies interweave in the plot was amazing for me. As for the animation, it's consistently good most of the time and some key scenes are done beautifully. All of these elements accompanied by the epic OST brought me to tears several times.

Now I do also understand that the writing was weak at several points, and the pacing became rushed by the end. Additionally, Fujimaru as a self-insert game protagonist doesn't make much of an exciting lead. However, I guess the overall incredible amount of enjoyment I got from this anime, thanks to being immersed in Fate for a long time, is why I give it a 10.

Now I wait for the final singularity, Solomon!

Not gonna lie, I was a bit skeptical when it was announced that Cloverworks was going to handle this adaptation. Mostly because I was a bit disappointed with their adaptation of the Promised Neverland anime at that time and the studio being formerly a part of A-1 pictures did not feel like a good sign. Hence, I was mentally prepared to write off this anime as a not-so great adaptation and feel satisfaction in the fact that at least the source material was great and I managed to enjoy that.

But when Episode 0 dropped, I was proven wrong. It showed that the studio understood ... the source material really well as they did a fantastic job in showcasing the themes of the first arc of FGO within a single episode so well. It got my hopes up and Cloverworks didn't disappoint for the most part.

Now the best part for me in this anime is how characterization is handled. And for a Fate or Nasuverse entry, you know how that matters as characters are always the core of the story. Instead of focusing of face value entertainment like flashy fights, Cloverworks put a lot of effort in making the characters stand out with their personality and internal struggles in some cases like "Enkidu" and Ereshkigal. The way they handled Fujimaru deserves praise as he was a problematic character in the game itself and there was every chance to screw up. Luckily, he actually feels quite human (still boring if you expect him to be like a central main character driving everything, which he never was within a singularity.) and is far better written than Sieg from Fate/Apocrypha who was a Gary Stu that reeked of wish fulfillment power fantasy through self insert of the audience.

Art and animation was pretty great with CGI being somewhat problematic in certain scenes but overall the visuals are good. The fights were well choreographed and fluid. One praiseworthy aspect of this is how the fighting style of characters reflect their personality in many cases like with Quetz. Not Ufotable level but probably the best Non-Ufotable Fate adaptation in terms of art and animation.

As for sound design, it wasn't as good as the visuals but still not bad at all. The soundtrack was pretty good and made many of the scenes look better, be it action or emotional. But some of the explosion sounds were kinda earrape but not like Apocrypha due to less frequency and how other sounds were added to make stuff feel less bad.

Now there were still some issues with this adaptation that held it back from making it really great such as Kodachi screwing up lore in one episode, few deleted/removed scenes and how First Hassan fighting Tiamat was a bit of a letdown.

But despite the flaws, the anime is a pretty solid 8/10 adaptation if you really appreciate the story of Fate/Grand Order. But as a standalone 5/10 at best. I am just relieved this is not a low quality cash grab using Fate name like Apocrypha and ended up doing some good stuff.

Fate Grand Order Babylonia prove that mobile gacha game can be adapted to an anime that only an anime viewers can follow, understand and love the series. You don't really need to know other fate franchise series to start Babylonia although it would be good to watch Fate Grand Order First Order to understand the world of FGO settings. Babylonia was voted by fans as one of the top stories to be animated. it was love by fans by and far and someone who play the game it is actually a very good stories since it is written by Nasu.

Babylonia focus on telling the ... Story of Epic of Gilgamesh. Where in this timeline after his journey seeking the herb of immorality, he became the mature and wise king, at times ruthless and yet approving of human natures. The Supreme Wise King "the one who saw everything". In this singularity his era was attacked by demonic beasts and demonic goddess. He shows his strength by governing as wise king to his people instead of a hero raging personified power which his archer form are introduced in fate stay night routes and fate zero. Yes those 2 are different.

Cloverworks did an amazing job adapting this and i wish this could be 24 episodes because it is worth to be the same length as Fate Zero. This is afterall the story of Epic of Gigamesh.

Anime's approach to fantasy is unique among other mediums. The Fate series itself is singularly unique among the fantasy genre in anime. I've reviewed previous Fate anime, so I do not feel it is necessary to go over the whole Fate oeuvre here. While I don't think the mythological or historical aspects of the characters in the series impressed me with how they treated them in the story, I have always enjoyed the action and some of the dramatic facets they put into it.

I have always had a strange relationship with the Fate series. It's like how I was with the Harry Potter series: ... I liked watching the movies, but they never made me want to grab the source material to see whatever minutiae I may have missed that the films didn't show. The mobile game Fate Grand Order is all the rage nowadays in that it's the game with the most amount of lewd fan art posted every week. Now, this could be me not wanting to touch a mobile game with a ten-foot pole because I have no interest in trying the source material. But this was my same reaction to the visual novel Fate Stay Night. Even though I don't play visual novels that much, I still can get around to it here and there. This whole spiel is to get you to know what mindset I'm in going into this show.

I can say with certainty that Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia, or for the sake of shortness Fate Babylonia, shows that you can adapt a mobile game that everyone can enjoy. Granted, I have not watched every mobile game anime adaptation. However, that's because the ones I have seen have been either terrible or dull to unwatchable. There is a multitude of reasons why this is the case. Either they do not adapt the source material well, which will piss off the game's fans and confuse the non-fans because of how warped the narrative is, or they try to come up with a generic story for the games that had a little story, to begin with.

The story of the previous Fate anime series has always been a little simplistic but positive. There was not much in terms of complexity or high-brow political intrigue you see in many fantasy fiction. While I wouldn't say Babylonia is too complicated with its story, I think that what is there is enough for it to be more distinct from Fate Zero or Fate Stay Night. It still has the same compelling character drama we have come to know in the past and the comedic nature to help balance the story's darker aspects to make it more of an enjoyable hero's journey.

While a few characters in the story have appeared in previous seasons, there are some new ones for us to get experience with fresh eyes. Honestly, it is a mixed bag. Our main hero Ritsuka is what I would call the prototypical bland protagonist you could find in any mediocre JRPG. He fits into that category of not being terrible or great; he's there to provide an essential guide to drive the plot along. Still, nothing about his personality made him memorable in any way. He does have a handful of good and even funny moments, but he sticks out like a sore thumb compared to the other characters. For instance, his servant Mash has all the personality you would need for a character to be exciting yet can still present herself as intangible to the main story. If all of these problems were alleviated, I think he would've been at least close to being as great as Shirou. Then again, it would be hard to do that feat.

While you could argue that she is Rin from the previous entries, Ishtar is my favorite. Not only from her physical design, mind you. Her hilarious tsundere personality that we've come to know from Rin and her interactions with the other characters gave the show some life whenever she was on-screen. Ana has her fair share of funny and cute moments; her role is strictly for comic relief or action sequences. Enkidu was probably the one with the most intriguing back story out of all of the characters. Yet I feel like it could've been explored further, but due to the typical process of adaptations, they had to cut some of it; I'm assuming it was for cutting downtime as is usually the case. This problem persists in most characters with fascinating backstories that we don't get to see further. I could see this alleviated with a 2nd season, as it is almost guaranteed this will be the case. Oh, Gilgamesh is a king now and is just as awesome as before.

It's always essential to critique the animation and art department in a Fate anime ever since ufotable took over production in Fate Zero and Fate Stay Night Unlimited Blade Works. Except with Fate Babylonia, ufotable is no longer fulfilling the role. Instead, we get CloverWorks, responsible for Seishun Buta Yarou wa Bunny Girl Senpai no Yume wo Minai, Yakusoku no Neverland, and Persona 5 the Animation. While they are pretty good in animation quality, ufotable still reigns supreme in that department. In comparison to the previous Fate series, Babylonia does not come close to that level of quality. However, I think CloverWorks did a pretty good job keeping the action looking slick as always; the character designs look great. The CGI, however, does look messy in parts, mainly in the last three episodes involving the final battle. It isn't the worst CGI I've seen in anime, but it should've been touched up more before airing on TV.

There is so much to like about Fate Babylonia despite some issues relating to the sub-par CGI, lack of character development, and the main protagonist is boring. I would love to say Ishtar and her luscious body made all of those cons illegitimate, but I can't be that shrewd even though I want to. It's always a fun ride whenever I watch a Fate anime adaptation, even if it isn't great. There will always be some things to talk about, both the bad and the good.

Grade: B+

Got around to finally watching and surprisingly completing it quickly, quite the bingeable show it was.
Now, anime-only might've been confused in the start with the whole "Grand Order", for that my best advice for you is to start the game - Fate/Grand Order, it's available on both Android and iOS

It was one big intense adventure from the start to finish, it was odd seeing it all animated but they did a good job with it though missing and somewhat changing some details but overall it remained true to the events in the game to my understanding.

It was fun seeing all the characters interact with actual ... voices accompanied by lovely OSTs. As for the battles, it was a treat to see all the fights not having to worry about team compositions, supports and whatnot. Just sat back and watched the mayhem ensue and speaking of which, this adaptation of Fate really showed how powerful Servants are. Plus the CGI for the show wasn't half bad. they did a well enough job considering how CGI usually rolls in anime.

About the story itself, going through it again made me realize why it isn't the best Singularity then it comes to that aspect. The stakes are higher and the battles are as flashy as ever but the first half of the Singularity - mostly the Goddess retrieval Arc you could say had a recurring element and somewhat luck or simply plot armour to it. However the final part was a thrill ride through and through with surprises every turn it took.

Finally, let's not forget the best thing about the show - Gilgamesh or more accurately Caster Gil. I don't like Gil's character from the previous adaptations but FGO Gil? Now he was a breath of fresh air. Seeing him align with the good side (though he isn't exactly evil to begin with) was a new and enjoyable side of him. Well you can make the argument those are two different versions but whatever the case, the Wise King of Uruk definitely outdoes the Tyrannical King of Uruk for me. Still it was fun seeing him boss people around, well he was a King. Definitely Best Boy material right there.

The journey doesn't end there, next up Fate/Grand Order - Endgame (Final Singularity)

With Fate, it kinda feels like gambling at times. With the horrifyingly long line of history the franchise has, the quality of the shows they churn out really varies. With Fate/Zero being its peak and the first Grand Order movie being the lowest, I really went in to this one expecting nothing but blandness. To my surprise, this one was actually sublime, awesome, and such a skyrocket improvement over the other FGO bits.

FGO Babylonia is said to be adapted from the most well-received part of the mobile game Fate Grand Order, a game i never played. It feels like a bane to enter the ... FGO series as a casual viewer, case and point, the first movie which was balls to the wall boring. This one assumes the watcher knows something about the game and throughout its runtime, i really did feel like it. While it may sound like I'm berating this series, watching Babylonia made me ignore that flaw due the spectacle that it just bled from start to finish.

Storywise, the whole Chaldea shit was kinda lost to me and frankly, i did not care for the isekai aspect at all as the mythology and lore was just so fun and engaging by itself. I may not be an expert in history per say, but most characters here were legends i have been familiar with. Seeing such larger than life figures in a single setting, these heroes and literary figures walking around and interacting with each other, it was like Christmas for bookworms and historians. The golden son of a bitch Gilgamesh showed a side never before seen in other Fate media and while he still has his 'zasshu' bits, I can not believe that he's actually one of the most captivating character here alongside the other mythological figures. His story here was so much based on the Epic of Gilgamesh and i really dig the dynamic he has with both the antagonists and protagonists. In the end, the story is a good vs evil tale unlike the morally ambiguous dark stories from Zero and Stay Night. This is a historical fanfiction that is way better than it should be. Hell, Fate is fanfiction manifested and Babylonia may just be a wet dream cornucopia from the mind of a drunk historian. Holy grails, anachronous figures from legends, girls hotter than the sahara desert, budget slaying fight scenes...this time with gods! Babylonia is Fate magnified.

Animation-wise, this was probably second to Ufotable's efforts. I mean... the talents on that studio was beyond my mortal understanding. Backgrounds, architectural designs, creature design, fanservice fashion... everything was just dazzling and grand. That is until the 3d models are shown which was definitely far better than Studio Deen's sex dragons but kinda clashed with the artstyle of the environment. Beyond that, animation during fight scenes which were generously abundant, was spectacular and can stand toe to toe with the best of the best sakugas ever. Namely, Quetzal's battles with everyone, the Jaguarman skirmish, Ishtar's assault, the Gorgon siege, and the climax were hype as hell. Not even Fate/Zero has these much memorable fight scenes. While none might match the Saber vs Rider clash in Spring Song, the animators should be proud of the godlike masterclass they've created here.

Voice acting was great. I could just listen to Quetzal's voice for days, Gilgamesh's zasshu still rings true to his egoistic allure, and Ishtar is as dorky as she sounds adorable. Both openings songs really bring home the intensity of the events. What stands out greatly were the sound effects, which felt really heavy and crisp that probably enhances the magnitude of the battles ten or twenty fold.

Next comes the reason why Babylonia stands head and shoulder from the other FGO media: its cast of characters. The main duo who i felt bland in the first movie are much more active this time around. Fujimaru in particular, i felt that he really deserves to be called a master when the climax came along. Mash still is wallflower. The two however pale in comparison to the gods and legends they get to hang around with. We have Merlin from the arthurian legend, Taiga sensei as a jumpsuit mascot with terrifyingly competent combat skills, the hottest luchadora ever, a loli scythethrower, a more mature Gilgamesh and his 'boy-friend' Enkidu, and not one, but TWO Rin Tohsakas. Can't get any better than that? Wrong! We have King Leonidas from 300, the old man from the mountain, tiamat, two japanese figures i dont know whose fashion sense was dubious at best, and not one, not two, but a shit ton of Nyarlathoteps! I might be overstepping on spoiler territory but the sheer audacity of having these much awesomeness in a single series was a bit too much. Their interactions within the story was just great in my opinion though they really did go wild on the lore changes.

With all that shebang, i did find myself some criticism from the show which was mostly due to the unfortunate unfamiliarity with the game. There are concepts regarding the Chaldean segments that felt off personally. Likewise, while the show was paced well, there are bits where it felt too short, some were just put there without explanation, and the resolution of some subplots was underwhelming to say the least. The show does juggle a shit ton of characters and it was understandable that some characters would take the shorter end of the stick. I do not however complaints at all that i get to have two Rin Tohsakas and that stupidly sexy Aztec goddess. Mucho mucho indeed.

Fate Demonic Front Babylonia is a clear improvement over the other FGO installments helped probably due to its classy production, awesome cast of characters, and a much better plot and stakes never before seen in this scale. Fate remains a series that i can't just stop prodding around in apparently but this one deserves the highest praise even when i do find myself ignorant of some concepts introduced. This is high up with some of the best the Fate series has to offer, with Zero and Heavens Feel trilogy just edging it a bit. While casual watchers may feel lost at times, there are just so many things done right that its flaws just fizzes out in its glorious presentation and grand ambition.

Watch this immediately after the first movie just to cleanse out that bland flavor. This one packs in the spice. Binging it for the best experience.

First of all, I've never written one of these before so bear with me. Keeping this as spoiler-free as possible but if I fuck up something - whoops! Sorry about that. It's a 3+-year old story that you can legally read for free anyway.

Second: As people might be aware this was an adaptation of the 7th story arc of Fate/Grand Order Part 1 plotline. As such this review will focus on the anime's worth as both an attempt to convey the source material and as a stand-alone series overall.

With that out of the way as far as overall plot goes this is fairly simple. The ... show spends some time trying to provide explainations to the casual viewer, unfamiliar with the source material to make it understandable enough and it does a passable job at this. As far as the original beats of the game goes it's not uncommon for anime-onlies to not feel immersed and put off, considering they've skipped straight into the climax of Part 1 but that's not really a fault in the show itself so much as the producers choosing to jump straight into this - since at it's core this anime is fanservice for the players who voted this chapter as the one they most wanted to see animated.

As far as characters goes Babylonia does a mostly good job giving development to it's fairly big cast in a way that does justice to their portrayal in the original. Whether it be Merlin's charming playfulness or apparent lack of proper human emotions, Ana's stoic and reserved distrust, which slowly melts away as the show progresses, Ushiwaka's freedom and at the same time ferocity, Leonidas' hilarity and heroism, etc. Some characters ended up being given even greater attention than the game. Though the opposite is also true

The star of this anime is without a doubt Gilgamesh. Seeing him in from the late parts of his life as the Wise King of Uruk is an amaizng experience. One that people will definitely miss out on if they haven't seen the older Fate works so they can properly compare and contrast his behaviour there and here.

That said, there are definitely flaws in the execution as well. Due to time constraints of the very peculiar 21 episode count of the series a lot of character establishing moments or just nice scenes in general got omitted from the anime. As this happens in pretty much all adaptations be it manga, LN or otherwise, it comes as no surprise and is not gamebreaking in any way (even if it's very unfortunate), however in my personal opinion two of the scenes omitted have great importance to the overall themes and their lack in the adaptation is a definite loss. The first one was supposed to be in the first episode even - a foreboding dream between the series' main anatagonist and one of the main characters - Mash. The other is a spoiler so i'll spare you that much. Overall they could have done a way better job

As far as the main characters go - Ritsuka cannot be called a character at this point of the original game as there he was just a self insert for the player. The anime tries to give him some personality via original scenes or giving him some minor lines of other characters and generally makes him better than just a walking nothing but overall he's still just an average, regular kid. Still, he doesn't actually detriment the series in any spectacular form since he is at the end of the day simply an observer, who happened into this by chance. The spotlight is given to the other characters of the chapter and not him so if even if you find him insufferable, if you like the rest you'll still come out enjoying this anime.

As for Mash - she pretty much takes a back seat in here. Her main development in Part 1 comes from the 6th chapter Camelot and the 8th and final epilogue Solomon - both of which are getting adapatiosn. Depending on your taste you'll find her bland or cute in this but not really detrimental once again in my personal opinion.

As far as the soundtrack goes this anime is pretty much the best of both worlds. Gives you tons of remixes of the titular tracks of the game's music, while going with a brilliant and fresh new OST. I personally couldn't be happier with this decision. The latter two ending themes by Millet in the show's second cour are in my opinion some of, if not the best ending songs in any Fate anime so far.

As for the generall sfx, this is a divisive front. Some people love them, others despise them. Imo, don't listen to me on this and just decide for yourself.

Animation is terrific throughout. Lots of subtle nods were added to the characters even in casual conversation and actions scenes look truly phenomenal. As far as choreography goes this show probably has more memorable fight scenes than any Ufotable Fate adaptations so far, in my opinion, even if their use of CGI is inferior. Of course this might change with HF3 coming out a week from me writing this, but we'll see.


Overall this was definitely an enjoyable ride and worth your time for the productions values alone even if you can't get invested in the characters or story. If given more episodes, this could have been pretty much the best adaptation of any Fate material so far, but alas - it's flaws bring it down to "pretty good eitherway" instead.

The story of FGO is always so poor. I never enjoyed the stories while I was playing the game, and I still don't now. Sorry to the creator, but it's not interesting for me.

One thing that annoys me is that Fujimaru and Mashu both never feel like relative characters to me. I don't have a part of them in me. Fujimaru's dialogue (both in the anime and the game) in critical moments don't inspire me with that addictive hope for the conflict to be resolved. His statements are always a little bit too logical somewhere in the train of thoughts and not enough comes ... from what a human heart would say. Why does he and Mashu feel so irrelevant to me?

The production of this anime is fantastic. It is what you would want from an anime that reproduces your favorite manga. It lives up to your expectations.

The people of Japan did well in choosing Babylon as the story for anime adaption; Babylon and Camelot were the only two stories that interested me (nevertheless, the story is not good).

For those who never played the game, I don't know if you will understand FGO. But, Babylon might be one that is worth watching because it was the best story out of the six in FGO part one.

Fate Grand Order\Zettai Maju Sensen Babylonia

I loved the new Fate Grand Order and for many unexpected reasons!
First of all I thought this is gonna be another bad copy of the originals. However, it was way much better than I have expected. Well I have watched all the Fate Stay Night and Fate Zero series and it’s incompatible but still its something worth watching for sure!

What I like about this season is the characters were well made and the story overall is amazing. Even though the concept of servants has changed a little bit but still quite great anime.

As usual, fate series has the variety of characters and their roles which are related essentially to the story. I liked the character design and the weapons they used there it was not bad.
Gilgamesh king was amazing! Other characters were cool as well. I guess the effects were mixed will with this series unexpectedly successful.

Sound:
I think this anime has the best ever sound effects so far! The fighting seems are quite powerful due to that and it is suggested to watch with big speakers or headphones to enjoy the battles more!
Even the characters voice acting is quite amazing. I would say the music is fascinating and specially the ending song “the prover” which have been in the top charts in music industry in Japan for the last couple of months.
However, there is one down side to sounds effects which I did not really like; the monster screams. Yes, even though it should sound cool and horrifying but instead it was high pitch and annoying. I personally found it rather disturbing than anything else. Maybe that was the purpose is to disturb the audience with that IDK LOL.

ART:

Though I don’t prefer the mixture of 3D with the Anime style series. But Fate Grand Order did that mixture more professionally than other cheap studio anime that if watched before. Thus, the 3D art is not great but still way much better than other versions. I would say it was well made and worked well with the anime story.

I WANT MORE FATE! (⌒▽⌒)

When watching fantasy animes, there are times when I find myself being immersed in them. Feeling like I am also a part of their world where magic and heroes exist. Some animes can do this. Some cannot. What I would say though, is that Fate/Grand Order: Zettai Majuu Sensen Babylonia succeeds triumphantly.

In this anime, we follow the journey of Fujimaru Ritsuka and his servant Mash Kyrielight on their journey to recover the grail in the Babylonia singularity. Yet, even with this simplification, terms such as grail and singularity are difficult to understand for audiences who have not watched other Fate adaptations. What is the ... backstory of our MC Fujimaru? Like other Fate animes, this one is no exception to being confusing and having many unanswered questions. There are countless times where I would need to scroll through the comments searching for explanations on what was going on (thankfully people do explain things in comments). However, this does not stop it from being able to create exceptional moments that we share with the characters. Moments where you will feel as if you are apart of the world created due to the powerful monologue speeches made. Moments where you will feel your tingles in your spine and your eyes glued to the screen from the climactic moments in the anime. These instances allow you to feel apart of the world that is created in this anime which also makes the flaws of the story less punishing.

As for the characters, it was quite a large cast which made it quite difficult to remember what happened to certain characters, especially the minor ones. Nevertheless, each character did have their moment or two where they were especially emphasised. Personally, I felt that there are two characters that I specifically feel should be touched upon. These are Gilgamesh and Fujimaru as I felt that they contrasted to the generic characters in anime.

Fujimaru Ritsuka may seem quite generic at first as a fantasy protagonist. Having the “we must save everyone” syndrome and being the typical good guy, he first struck me as being quite boring. However, when analysing him more carefully, it made me realise that there were some variations that we see in him compared to much other fantasy anime. The most obvious being that he was not the overpowered main character that you see in animes such as Blue Exorcist or the recently aired Cautious Hero. In fact, he was essentially quite useless in battle and relied heavily on the support of other characters in battle. Yet, he still manages to have his moments in the anime where he outshines the other characters. Some may argue that this is a flaw because it’s just pure plot armour which is quite true. But I still enjoyed him as a character due to him being juxtaposed to the many MC that we find in other fantasy anime.

Another character I felt worth mentioning is Gilgamesh. In contrast to his Fate/Zero personality as being quite egocentric, the version in FGO Babylonia is much more likeable. Yes, he does maintain some of his arrogance, but we also get a glimpse of his kindness and his caring side which we do not see in Fate/Zero. This is different from many other arrogant characters in anime who are simply just cocky and a villain by nature like Gilgamesh was in Fate/Zero. It is also interesting that there are relatively few scenes where we see the Gilgamesh in FGO Babylonia in battle despite him supposedly being quite powerful. Instead, we mostly see him sitting on his throne giving out orders to his subjects. However, when he did battle, it always seemed as if he gave it all. This contrasts greatly to the normal narcissistic characters who like to play around and barely giving it their all. With this being said, the anime was able to attain a uniqueness due to it having characters with personalities that were slightly different from normal.

To wrap it all up, FGO Babylonia gave us a taste of masterful art and music. Like the other Fate series, this one also delivers on spectacular art that draws you into their world. The background scenery is often detailed and vibrant while the fight scenes were animated to be very impactful. Together with the good art, there are also many good soundtracks that can be heard throughout the anime. This is to be expected though as it is the case with most if not all fate anime. However, the CGIs in some cases were not as smooth as I expected to be which makes it not perfect.

Overall, FGO Babylonia manages to deliver what a fantasy anime should aim to do, which I personally think as drawing you into their world. It includes many different aspects that would allow people who are into fantasy animes to likely enjoy it. If you are able to look past the flaws that I mentioned and are into fantasy animes, then this anime should definitely be given a try.

FGO was something that I went in with absolutely zero expectations. While I was familiar with the Fate franchise having watched Fate/Zero and Unlimited Blade Works, I still had very little expectations from this anime. Having neither the hype nor the rage of the players of the source game, I went into it with a completely open mind. And I can safely say that I don’t regret watching this.

Firstly, I think it is necessary to address the confusion surrounding the watch order. One of the unfortunate things with the Fate series has been how confusing it can appear to the uninitiated. This makes it ... difficult for people to get into the Fate series. I find this utterly tragic because in many ways Fate represents the apotheosis of what anime as a medium can offer. Having watched this show without any familiarity with the game, I didn’t feel lost. The story was quite easy to follow and I rarely felt that I was not comprehending the plot. Although, I made the mistake of watching this without first having watched FGO: First Order and in hindsight, I think I should’ve watched it first. I would urge people to watch First Order before starting this one.

One thing that people might wonder is how exactly does this differ from Fate/Zero and Fate/Stay night? While FGO definitely retains the “core” aspects of FSN like Servants and Grail, the battle royale format of FSN is, however, lacking. While we are shown in the flashbacks of some character that Grail war was indeed a thing, this show takes place in a world where that is merely a footnote and not the main plot. FGO takes those core components and goes in a much different direction. The premise is one of the strengths of this anime, set in a sort of a “doomed timeline”. We follow our protagonist duo as they try to save the world by solving the 7 singularities unleashed by the mage king in multiple different timelines. We have Mash Kyrielight, an artificially created Demi-servant and Ritsuka Fujimaru, an ordinary young man thrown into this mess by some twist of fate (no pun intended). The time travel premise itself is very interesting but when combined with a Fate “twist”, it morphs into something really unique. Working with multiple timelines does allow tremendous world building potential.

The plot of FGO can be divided into two main segments. First, our protagonist duo has to do has to break the three goddess alliance and either gain the cooperation of or defeat the goddesses. A lot is revealed about the world and the characters through the characters interacting with one another. It often gets a bit tedious but I found it mostly interesting. The second segment deals with the aftermath of the dismantling of the three goddess alliance. The show picks up pace here and we get one explosive fight scene after another. Truly, the very best moments of the show are in this second segment. One criticism that I’d have would be the fact that each time the main antagonist was thought to have been defeated, it ends up transforming into something much much stronger. While it could be argued that it really helped drive home the power difference (after all, you must be pretty strong to survive the noble phantasms of multiple deities and legendary heroes). It just became predictable due to how repetitive it had become. If the intention was to keep me on edge, it did the exact opposite and no amount of flashy fight scenes are going to compensate for that. Another thing that I found a bit difficult to understand was the sudden appearance of certain characters in the final battle, while a few lines of explanations were given I think that wasn’t sufficient for an anime only like myself. While this show never cut any corners when it came to exposition dumps, I felt that it was lacking when it was most needed. The world-building is definitely good by anime standards but it had room for much improvement. I feel like toning down the amount of fanservice would’ve better synced with the rather serious tone that this anime takes. But thankfully, the fanservice never reached obnoxious levels. There was commendable attention to detail like the use of stone tablets and era-appropriate architecture. Although the historical accuracy ends there. Some weapons like catapults shouldn’t have existed in 2600 BC and this is barring the fantasy weapons that some characters use. I still would have preferred a bit more realism and less fanservice but I feel like most anime fans will not share my view about the issues I have raised.

I would say that characters are the main strength of this anime. One the advantages that Fate series has by incorporating historical figures is that character development comes prepackaged with their meticulous individual stories. But the Fate tweaks often change the characters significantly and at the expense of their actual mythical selves. Often times, this comes at the expense of coherence with their pasts as introduced in their individual myths. But perhaps coherence is something that we are willing to sacrifice for the sake of turning heroes into alluring waifus. Although I can safely inform that the writers have managed to competently craft characters that are interesting and well developed, rarely manifesting this flaw. While we have a colorful cast of characters ranging from oneechan goddesses to immortal incubus with their own (mostly) tragic pasts, the mediocre characters were the main protagonist duo. While seeing Mash’s mental struggle was interesting, I just felt like her responses to events lacked much needed individuality. The reason for this was explained in episode 0 but I still felt like her growth could’ve been much better. The protagonist Ritsuka Fujimaru is absolutely unremarkable. Apparently, he is meant to be an insert for the players in the game but in the anime he just resembles a typical anime protagonist without any distinctive traits and a superhuman obsession with goodness. Thankfully, sufficient time is given to the more interesting characters and they and their interactions make the show enjoyable.

The artwork and animation was great. It was quite pleasing to the eye and the fight scenes just brought out the best of the talented stuff that created this show. It is something that we all have come to love and expect from Cloverworks in 2021. It is quite clear from the excellent fight scenes that no budget was spared in the making of this anime. This should is worth watching just for the fight scenes due to how well done they are. Although, I still think the crowd CGI could’ve been better and I am confident that it was not a budgetary constraint as FGO rakes in millions in profit. It just felt lazy but I am willing to overlook it as bad CGI is something of a trend in anime.

My favorite part about this anime would be the soundtrack. The music that accompanied each scene made it truly great and it shifted with the emotional tone of the anime from hype at times to melancholy
at other. The opening was great and it did establish the general tone of the anime. The endings were my favorite due to how introspective and revealing they were about the individual characters. I found the endings truly reflective of the tragic lives of the particular characters present in them.

FGO was something that pleasantly surprised me, having dropped Apocrypha after having watched few episodes I was expecting something similar but I am glad this show proved me wrong. The criticisms that I have are probably because I am an anime only. I am sure the players of the game would not raise the same issues and I am confident unless you are too critical, they won’t bother you much. It is a truly good show and while it could’ve been much better, it definitely anything but disappointing. I think if you are one of those people who enjoy anime with great music, excellent fight scenes and fantastic characters, then this show is definitely for you.

This is a review written by someone who has played the game this is based on.

Fate is a confusing franchise with tons of lore, and some Fate shows require the viewer to know certain things shown in other Fates to understand what is going on. If a viewer has played the game, they simply know what is happening. If one has seen the other Fate/Grand Order anime, they will have a basic understanding of how the universe works, but will not have context to how they got to this point in the story, for Fate Babylon is a later part of the overall story and ... there is nothing currently in-between here and the first Grand Order OVA. The show itself provides small bits of context to what exactly is going on, but if one hasn't played the game, they will not know everything they need to know. But it does give enough to understand what is currently happening. One pit of context is that the show ends with a cliffhanger, because it was in the game as well. It cuts off right at the part of the game that leads to the next chapter in the story. That is currently on its way.

The animation is on par with some of the best fate has to offer. I would go out of my way to say some of the action scenes were better then some of the Ufotable Fate fights. Incredible action scenes throughout most of the anime. And with some of the strongest characters shown on screen for Fate so far, we get to see fights on a scale never seen before in the franchise. The only negative for the animation is that it has use of CGI characters. For people that are annoyed by the presence of CG in an anime, this will annoy you. I found the CG to be well animated for the most part, so it didn't bother me too much.

The sound track is that of the game, plus a few scores for the opening and ending credits. The game music is good and is well used. The opening is solid, and the ending themes are great. I would put the last 2 ending themes to be some of the best I've heard in anime. "Prover" captures the feel of the Gilgamesh's character in thus world so well, as well as help the viewer feel how grand the show is. "Tell Me" is also an emotional ending to this show as well for the one time is was used.

Most characters are done extremely well. As a game player, simply seeing the character on screen animated and being themselves was enough to entertain me. Plenty of character was given to most of the cast. The main characters, Fujimura and Mash, had nice moments, but were not often put in the spot light. This is because the game shows everyone through the main character's perspectives, so he is usually on the side line not doing anything. But he was given more character then the main character of Fate/Extra: Last Encore. The servants are where this show shines. In the start, characters that didn't have very big roles were given moments of incredible action and drama. Major impact even for the minor servants. We were given moments of comedy, then shown why it is we should care for them as characters in this show with their personality and stories. Gilgamesh is actually likable. He's shown as the antagonist of previous Fates, therefore we dislike him. Here we see a whole new side of his character that truly shows why he is one of the best characters in Fate. I will argue that in the last few episodes, some characters were not given very grand moments for the climax of the show. but that is a small nitpick from the rest of what was good in this show.

I feel this show is better for those that payed the game. Those that watch the fate anime will have trouble keeping up at times, but there is enough for them to enjoy. Those unfamiliar with fate will be confused and good action and a few comedic moments may be all they get for not being familiar with Fate.

This series isn't a bad adaptation at all but the last episode (20) was
pretty disappointing, this anime actually should have ended 1 month ago but they have two breaks in the production, and for what? For this? Come on! The only attractive that Fate GO has is Historical Waifus dressing like strippers and the Noble Phantasms from the servants, but Babylonia arc it's different because it tries to tell a epic story and not only be a boring ass quest to get something, characters and the concept of a ancient Babylonia where there is a war between gods and heroic spirits sounds ... simple but entertaining enough, more if you include characters like Gilgamesh, Enkindu and that excuse of Rin.

Fate Babylonia doesn't give you any backstory about Gilgamesh and Enkindu relationship even considering how incredible that Sumerian Myth is and how many stories they could put from those two, but no, they where going to the easy way and waste time in irrelevant shit like those trash episodes of Ishtar and Fijimaru flirt or Fijimaru and every other female servant / goddess flirt, that come to the most boring and plane episode from this series, the episode 20, the final fight between Tiamat and King Hassan, not only messed up the fight but the King Hassan character too, I don't know what to say, I feel like Fate Apocrypha final was better, at least was emotional and had epic fights with an proper ending for some Servants even if the rest of the show was pretty shite ... Babylonia lost his time to shine even when the first half was amazing but a good story needs a good end.

I know not even Fate's creator takes seriously FGO but i respect FGO because isn't pretend to be something deep or some kind of spinoff from the original Fate Universe, Fate Grand Order has his own path and charisma at difference from other Fate series that call themselves spinoffs from Zero and Stay Night like Apocrypha and Lord El-Melloi II two series that take the name from the original series and destroy every piece of lore and canon they can.

Reflection: Almost every technical aspect from this series are pretty outstanding like the sound effects (my lord, eargasm) direction, animation, CGI... but it's a shame that the narrative aspects are pretty mediocre

Fate prequel, after seeing the whole main line I thought I was going to see blood and destruction. I was wrong, we have a naruto-style protagonist who annoys me a lot, he fights and that's it, but he doesn't prefer to talk. After the character design is very good, the new servants that are presented are good and I liked their personality. What I also didn't like was the ending that leaves it for another season and if I honestly can't stand the protagonist because he's too good. The plot is good because we see a character who is a crack when he was king ... and well I'll say no more so you see who he is. The animation is very good, but in a fight with the Mayan goddess the animation drops with that fight and then everything else remains at a very high level that's good. The soundtrack is good and the series is generally better than average, it is recommended but it was not what he was looking for. I wanted to see something more like the first season of fate.

Despues el diseño de personajes esta muy bueno, los nuevos servants que se presente estan buenos y me gustaron su personalidad. Lo que no me gusto tambien fue el final que lo deja para otra temporada y si sinceramente no aguanto al protagonista porque es demasiado bueno. La trama esta buena porque vemos un personaje que es un crack cuando era rey y bueno no digo mas asi ven quien es. La animacion esta muy buena, pero en una pelea con la diosa maya decae la animacion con esa pelea y despues todo lo demas se mantiene en un nivel muy alto eso esta bueno. La banda sonora esta buena y la serie por lo general es mejor que el promedio es recomendable pero no era lo que busca. Yo queria ver algo mas como la primera temporada de fate.

Fate/Grand Order - Absolute Demonic Front: Babylonia is the single most underrated anime I have ever seen.

It humanises Gilgamesh, one of the most ruthless villains in the main Fate/Stay Night series. In this show, you see an older and wiser Gilgamesh, after he has met and lost his best friend - Enkidu.

The Archer Class Gilgamesh summoned in UBW and the other main fate routes is actually based on the younger, more arrogant and more self-centred version of himself.

Donquixote Doflamingo will probably always stand on top as the best villain in Anime/Manga for me, but Caster Gil's portrayal in this show, as a leader and ... someone who genuinely cares for his people, moved me.

I cried when Kingu used his Noble Phantasm, and I still get emotional every time I hear Milets ' Tell Me' that plays during the scene.

In the end, Gil lost his one true friend, he lost the very thing he spent years trying to find that would make him immortal, he lost everything his life was for, his city, his people, he lost his friend again. And, after firing Melammu Dingir he lost all of his treasures and wealth. But still, he sat atop his building, no tears, he seemed unphased, was it because of his clairvoyance? No, that had shown him the destruction of the city, not the loss of everything he ever had. Gil viewed what happened as something that was good, and why was that? Because humanity had won, even if they were helped by the Gods. It was Ritsuka, Chaldeas and the people of Uruk who had emerged victorious, their struggle was not in vain.

The war was won, and no matter how much agony he himself could be going through, how could he be sad? He wasn't, he is the King of Heroes, a King whose ambition led his people, whose shoulder they could rely on, whose back they could look at and be proud of. Divine or not, god or not, the King of Heroes would fight for humanity because that is what he wanted to do.

I'm a really big fan of fate, i have played fgo first. I need to say that this anime did not disappoint me. They have cut a few dialogue which i found funny but the pace is perfect. I don't understand how people say that ritsuka is useless. I find it reasonable because he is only human between those powerful servants, and his character is never a powerful nor genius type of person. the animation is very smooth and the fighting scenes are extraordinary, and especially the music is super good. Ofc, gil is super hot. And in conclusion, I LOVE YOU ISHTARrrrrrr.

One of the best anime out there.

Generally great in all aspects and a definite must watch for fans of Gilgamesh as its essentially an anime about his backstory.

I would generally recommend some fate series like Fate Stay Night: Unlimited Blade Works or Fate : Zero before watching this if you do not play the game Fate: Grand Order in order to better understand the characters, especially Gilgamesh.

However, do watch FGO: First order and the Babylonia OVA before watching this.

Story
Amazing and captivating storyline that is well developed and thoroughly covers the land of Uruk and the Age of gods. All the main plot points came together nicely to provide a very complete and satisfying story that one can easily fall in love with.

Art
Kindda subjective but the art is good. Fight scenes are all exceptionally animated.

Sound
Music tracks are all good, especially the last 2 endings.

Character
This is the best part of the show. All the main characters, especially Gilgamesh was so well devloped. Even Kingu's character development was very on point. The tensions each character faced was very captivating. The entire show gave us a perfect glimpse into Gilgamesh and his empire, as well as introducing many other interesting supporting characters.

Overall
Easily one of the best Anime I have watched. From the setting to the individual characters to the main plot points, everything was on point from start to finish. While some parts were quite sad, all the main characters met a good and meaningful end that added value to the story.

Im a simple man. I see a character that looks like rin, i immediately like that.

But all seriousness, as someone that just started the fate series last month, this was pretty enjoyable. good amount of action for my taste, and the characters were all very interesting.

It might be because I dont know much of the concepts regarding the servants and the pseudo-servants, but it did take a while to understand that stuff. Im sure most of this is covered in the games, which I have not played but the whole concepts regarding summoning is very fascinating.
