Aggressive Retsuko (ONA) 2nd Season

“What am I doing, really?”

The second season of Aggretsuko seeks to delve into this question. It’s a question I ask myself a lot, as I know many here do. After all, it’s a question even more relatable than the struggles of the workplace and having to work with people who make your job harder. While I’m not sure this second season succeeds at tackling either quite as well as the first did with the former, it’s still a charming and relatable season of one of 2018’s greatest shows.

One of the best things about both characters is how fleshed-out the characters feel, as it’s easier to ... connect with almost every character in this season, just like last time. The arc that Retsuko goes through is still great, and even easier to connect with than ever, with issues of learning to drive, dealing with overly meddling parents and peers who can’t take criticism, and having to deal with the prospect of marriage crammed down her throat. As good as it is, I think it comes at the cost of some of the other characters. The series has always been about Retsuko, but at times I feel some of the side characters got underrepresented. Retsuko’s older friends, Washimi and Gori, have about as much screen time as before, and are about as fun to hang out with as before. Her boss Ton’s presence still looms over both arcs of the season, but he’s no longer an antagonist to deal with, so his decreased presence makes perfect sense. Her best friends, Fenneko and Haida, do take a hit in terms of screen time, especially Fenneko who never has much relevance in any given episode outside of a few funny jokes. Other returning characters also have varying amounts of screen time, and one of the most pivotal characters of the first season’s second half is absent entirely. That said, it’s impressive how much we get to learn about most of these characters, even now, later into the franchise and with most of the side characters having less screen time.

There are a few new characters, most of which are entertaining, but there are only two I’ll bring up here: Anai and Tadano. Without spoiling, neither character is who they seem to be at first glance, with Anai serving as a somewhat disturbing antagonist of the first arc and the latter proving to be more interesting and layered over time in spite of how nonchalant he is. Both characters’ relationships with Retsuko feel a bit rushed, with Anai’s bad blood with Retsuko essentially dissipating after one big moment in the climax of episode 5, and Tadano’s conclusion with Retsuko feeling like it could have used more time, on top of feeling a bit rehashed from the first season. That said, the arcs starring these two characters are mostly solid, even though the former drops one tension-inducing plot point halfway into the arc, and the latter feels a bit rushed and almost a tad too high in scope. It also gets a bit more topical than the first season towards the end, adding to the heightened sense of scope.

Visually, this second season is about on par with the first, with a few new crazy facial expressions, some visually interesting sequences, and a fair amount of fun new character designs for Fanworks to play with. It’s about as simple and effective as before. Musically, there are barely any new tracks mixed in with the fun earworms of the previous season, as expected. One problem I have with the soundtrack is that while it doesn’t feel the need to kick off every episode with Retsuko screaming her head off, it decides it needs a few cheesy musical numbers, like in the penultimate episode. There’s also no new OP or ED, but those were the last thing on either season’s priorities anyway, so it seems we have to settle for new opening visuals and nothing else. At least the dub is still wonderful.

Ultimately, while I do have some misgivings with this second season, it’s still charming, funny, and relatable, like a good friend that knows how to level with everyone. I’m not entirely sure how much longer they can keep this series going without losing freshness, but I’m glad this second season was still a fun ride we could all use. Aggretsuko knows exactly what it’s doing, but what about us?

Aggretsuko stans, come get y'all juice.

After a year that began to seem like an eternity, Sanrio has blessed us with a new season of Aggretsuko (certainly blessing their own wallets in the process with the revived merchandise sales it'll result in). There was plenty at stake, as well as plenty to resolve that was left over from the first season.

I'm very happy to report that Sanrio has more than delivered. Much like the first season, Aggretsuko not only anthropomorphizes its animal characters - it humanizes them into characters the viewer comes to really care about, including a few characters they have been on the fence ... about in the first season. Not only are the old favorites back, but there are a few new faces in the picture to keep things interesting.

A lot more is placed this season on Retsuko's love life, mostly due to the involvement of her mother. But unlike the first season, Retsuko's love life doesn't seem like a brief derailment towards the end - it's a natural part of her life, being a 25-year-old woman. A few curious men enter her life and serve to overall progress her character.

Overall, Aggretsuko season 2 is almost everything I could've asked for, with a few twists involving new cast members and even new music styles. Anyone who watched the first season should be more then satisfied with its progression, and will hopefully join the rest of the community in supporting the series via official streaming and merchandise so we get a season 3.

Everybody's favorite red panda is back with more rage than ever.

This season, we got an introduction of a new character to the office, Anai, who freshly graduated from college and into the office. However, he seems to know more about his personal rights which adds a hilarious chemistry with the cast.

We also move a huge step forward in life, with this season focuses more on the concept of marriage plus relationships which can affect the dynamics with pretty much everyone in your surroundings.

We might have gotten less screen time in the office but we get to see more of Retsukp's personal life and her problems ... she has to face, from arranged marriage to obtaining a new license and more.

Overall, this season manages to retain the same atmosphere as the first and is still solid, however I just wished more of the old supporting cast had more screen time and this season feels a little bit too short, wish it got more time.

Overall, a solid 9/10.

Hopefully we get too see Retsuko again next year for a season 3 if we get one.

Aggressive Retsuko or simply Aggretsuko, comes again to shine in this season of animes with his new second season. Continuing to address the life of our beloved lil'Red Panda in addition to addressing serious issues like Harassment at Work, Employed mother's life, arranged marriage services and the importance of marriage these days, especially in Japanese society.

The second season began with the first challenge that our protagonist should overcome, his mother. A mother who is 100% preoccupied with her daughter, from factors of living alone, such as "Are you eating well?" "Are ... you cleaning the house?" To her relationships, where she wants her daughter to have a marriage arranged for get married soon

Relationships is the key word of this season, be it the relationships in the workplace as well as the loving relationships, we see very well in this in the three counterparts: Anai, Retsuko's temperamental beginner, the relationship in danger of Mrs. Gori's with Washimi and Tadano , the new boyfriend of Retsuko.

The first part of the anime revolves around the arrival of Anai in the company of the protagonist, who after some "Suggestions" of Retsuko, Anai get in a state of Fury, discounting with those who caught his attention, in a socially weird way. but it was in this first part that we had a deeper view of the Hippopotamus Mrs. Kaba, where she was the only one who managed to "tame" the vengeful spirit of Anai, where the same being the opposite of Retsuko, using electronic rap music as a valve of escape.

In this part we understand more about the difficulty of creating a family in modern times, whether in Japan or in the world, both through Mrs. Kaba and Supervisor Ton. beyond the question of understanding how the minds of our fellow workers work, to approach them and try to help them, of course in a polite way.

The second part has a point of ignition the fact that Retsuko, after being pressured by his mother (of course, wanting too), take the driver's license, knowing in the process the lazy Tadano. In the advance of the episodes we see that she ends up feeling attracted to him, but soon her world collapses when she that not that who does not seem to be, from a lazy unemployed to a Company President of super-famous Start-up.

Tadano in History was "The Rider on White Horse" to Retsuko, she saw that she wanted to stay with him forever, not because of her money but rather to really like him. The point of rupture was when everyone discovered their relationship, where Tadano himself makes a comment about not wanting to get married, because it did not make sense to him, the complete opposite to her.

Here we are introduced to the importance of marriage, something shown in five ways: By Retsuko's mother, a lady who is already entering the third age where for her daughter has to get married fast to start his wife life (I almost heard a "I WANT GRANDCHILDREN "); By Mrs. Kaba, a mother who works by day but when she comes home, takes care of her children and husband, acting as an example of a family-driven wife, by the Washimi, a divorced woman who believes that after marrying the person who love, love is slowly going away; For Gori, a woman of forty who is still looking for her soul mate; And even Supervisor Ton, who uses marriage and family as a way to continue following "Tedious" life according to his words.

Summing up: Retsuko ends up forming her own vision of what marriage would be, the vision she so dearly wanted to marry the person she loves so much, not to run away from a bad job or the approval of others, but to have something to follow your life, giving you your motivation to keep moving forward.

Regarding this season, let's say it was really fun to watch, not just for comedy or fun moments, but for Retsuko's daily life, wondering how she'll react the next day, or how she's going to get around the situation. It was very cool for them to implement other types of music besides Heavy Metal, especially for key moments such as Retsuko and Tadano Duet or Anai's Escape Valve.

Something that was missing in my opinion was more of Retsuko's mother's scenes during the final episodes, perhaps an apology coming from her (mother) or even an advice about the situation that was forming with the relationship with Tadano. Not to mention a more present participation of the friend of childhood of the protagonist, that only had three moments in the history, where two form characteristics of the personage and the third one is a comic relief.

But something that shines always is the sermon of Supervisor Ton, and with this he managed to overcome the sermon of the first season, not for being more radical as first, but pulled to a more sentimental side, causing Retsuko to wake up from his fantasy that would never be done that way.

In conclusion, the second season did not fall into the curse of being a continuation, she managed to make me more excited to watch the following episodes, even missing out on a bigger performance of Fenneko and Haida, the story delivered a fun, exciting ending and leaving open for a possible third season.

Wow, this show is one of my top favorites from this year. I wasn't expecting much from this sequel but it definitely was worth it.
I relate a lot to Retsuko's actions and thoughts, even though I'm much younger than her. I feel like we all have the same issues she has. Life is difficult sometimes but it's great to laugh it off.

Now, I really enjoyed the ending. I didn't expect that. It was incredibly mature of her to understand that her significant other has certain goals and views, different of hers, thus breaking up in a ... healthy way. Not many real-life people can do this. It was sad, but I loved how she takes it as a good experience and laughs about it. Whew, she deserves THE WHOLE WORLD.

I'm hoping there will be a third season! Not so sure, but fingers crossed.

Anyway, the review. Might be a small drop of spoiler in here, but just on the overall action.

The story continues well from the first season, not as much hardcore rock music popping up now though. Three capital vices are strongly affecting the series — sloth, envy and pride. Mainly the first one.
The story actually works out great in showing how not getting sht done, getting sht done and pushing waaay to hard to ... get sht done can affect you. It all needs to be balanced around the midpoint of getting sht done. And not to mention, that — only you need to decide on what will work for you! Not your mom and dad.

The animation’s great for the series, music’s sweet and the plot makes you keep going with one episode after another (thank heavens that there are only 10 episodes (or not (sadface))).

Should you watch — yes!

Getting back on cardinals and getting sht done — Retsuko is so unassertive. Pushed by her boss, her colleagues and even her parents. The final episode made me actually sad for Retsy. You actually hit the jackpot but everyone just pushed you all over the place.
And logically, why would you want to listen to all those guys anyway?
Ton clearly is stuck in his “complete” life (wife, kids, work, golf and booze sometimes).
Gori and Washimi have complications with their “second halves” so getting advice from them on BFF terms is silly.
Haida is just interested in you, but hey, you don’t know that because solo he can’t make a move (so we pass on that).
And mom is just wedding crazy, it should’ve catch on pretty early.
Actually, now that I think of it, only Anai, was ok.
And alas, people pushed poor Retsy into a bad move.

Love and Life doesn’t work this way, Retsy. Like in “Shawshanks” geology – it takes pressure and time.

So the moral’s this — don’t be unassertive, don’t be greedy, don’t fall into your ego and don’t be lazy. The life is your oyster, be smart about it!

P.S: I had to write this and get it off my chest. That's a sign of a good series! Right? Sure it is!

Okay this second season is quite a different aspect of her life. This season I’d say focuses more on love than any other season so far. Retsuko is absent minded living in her world full of love and dreams and she can’t focus on anything. She’s blinded by good looks and fame rather than anything else. This for me happened to be a way better season than S1. The storyline is well thought out and really the truth and it dwells into realistic adult life. Art and sound I can’t comment much but really good. We all love Retsy and her metal karaoke bomb. Character ... development took a turn in this serious for the better. It’s amazing. You really know everyone can’t be perfect. An ideal that’s COMPLETELY PERFECT DOESNT EXIST. enjoyment overall is 9.3 calculated with maths of the average.

SUMMARY: Watch it if you see the first season.
The second season is usually hated by people, they said is a copy paste of the first season but i really enjoy it, and i think this season bring us one the best character of the whole show, TADAGOD, i really think he bring the most healthiest interactions with retsuko, also Gori, Washimi and Inai are cool. Probably is not the best season but is really enjoyable.

La segunda temporada suele ser odiada por la gente, dicen que es un copia y pega de la primera temporada pero yo la disfruté bastante, creo ... que esta temporada nos trae uno de los mejores personajes de todo el show, TADAGOD, realmente creo que es de los que se relaciona más sanamente con retsuko, también los personajes de Gori, Washimi e Inai están bien. No será la mejor temporada pero es muy disfrutable.

Second Season of this show was really good too, as the first season was.

It might seem like a chick flick, but I feel like anyone can watch and enjoy so long as you have an open mind, it goes through all aspects of life, growing up, working, career, relationship with friends and parents, and of course the mystery of love itself.

Despite it looking like a very cute anime, which it is, I believe it teaches a lot about life itself, and can be enjoyed by All. I enjoyed season 2 more than season 1 but both were very good. I am glad i ... came across this anime ( season 1 ) by chance, and i am glad I did. Despite it looking like a girly anime, I was surprised I enjoyed both seasons. I am finishing up season 3 as well, and enjoying that one as well :)

When I think of Aggretsuko I think of this season, the third and the last season...

The reason? In this season we are introduced to Tadano Which I feel is without a doubt one of the best 5 aggretsuko characters
He's charismatic, I love him and he makes it easy to sympathize with him.

In turn, the plot of this season becomes more bearable by introducing new characters, a "bad" character and Retsuko's mother

To finish, I would like to point out that I really enjoyed this season, I have felt identified with Tadano, with Retsuko and her problems and I have even felt Haida's pain....I just can't not ... be fond of an anime that produces those feelings in me, it almost never happens and when it does... it's magical

I love this season for everything I have said before and even more, I hope I can rewatch it at some point with that special little person that we all have in our lives

ESP: cuando pienso en Aggretsuko pienso en esta temporada, en la tercera y en la ultima

Porque? Porque a esta temporada se nos introduce a TadaGOD el cual siento que entra facilmente en mi top 5 personajes favoritos del anime, es carismatico, lo amo y hace que sea mas facil simpatizar con el y sus sentimientos

La trama en esta temporada es bastante mas entretenida, introduciendo nuevos personajes como la mama de Retsuko la cual amo porque realmente se siente como una madre (no como otros animes)

Para terminar me gustaria remarcar lo que disfrute mas de la temporada, me he sentido identificada en parte con TadaGOD, me he sentido identificada con Retsuko y sus problemas amorosos como con sus problemas de vida en general y me senti identificada con el dolor de Haida... Tan solo no puedo no tenerle cariño a un anime que me produce estos sentimientos

Amo esta temporada y espero algun dia poder disfrutarla con esa personita especial que todos tenemos en algun momento ❤️
