The story revolves around a girl named Yuuka, who encounters a being from the depths of the Earth named Chii-chan (a pun of chiteijin, the Japanese word for underground-dweller), and an alien named Ucchan (a pun of uchuujin or alien). The story follows their heartwarming and chaotic everyday lives together.
The story is fun and child-friendly. The story is deep enough for adults/teens to enjoy, but mainly for kids. If you watch it, you must watch the story knowing that it might not have all these deep plot lines. But in my opinion that's what makes it so unique, it's simple but still intriguing.
The art style is cartoony and cute. It isn't the most detailed art style in anime,
but this is a kid demographic anime. It's simplicity, and cheery colors are enough to put you in a better mood.
The voice acting is very fitting for the characters and has variety. The voices are cute and full of emotion.
The characters are oddly simple but have much detail. You will have to trust me on this one, but I mean it. I love the characters so much I got one plushie of Chi-chan and one of Joe-kun. They are quirky, funny, and cute. I loved seeing the characters interact with each other in this series.
Though, compared to other animes, the characters are a little shallow. But as I said, you got to take this show with a pinch of salt; it's aimed at a younger audience.
I really enjoyed this series, like I said I even bought merch. (I had never bought merch for an anime previously.) The characters all care for each other, and when trouble comes, they seem to go through it with determination. It was satisfying to complete; the first and last episodes were not awkward. Sometimes the show was a little bit childish and not exciting, but all animes will have those episodes that don't shine as well as others.
This anime is a great one if you are having a bad day and want to watch an anime that is less serious to make you feel better. If you are more into deep animes that pull your heartstrings, this one might not be for you.
Just another anime about a bunch of cute creatures living with a girl. You can skip the "SPOILER" paragraph, although it's only very minor spoiler.. anyway please enjoy.
The cute creatures this time are... basically what I just said. I can't explain any further than that, anyway they have their own reasons for being in the care of Yuuka-san. Yuuka-san is an ordinary girl who enjoys helping people out. In the first episode she helped someone in the first few minutes of appearing. You probably understand by now that she is a nice girl who would look after even creatures she wouldn't even think existed. Considering
what has happened so far you can assume that Yuuka-san and co. will hear out anyone in the need of help. It's more or less because of Yuuka-san personality, of course these cuties don't mind. So far one of the creatures, ................. (1). The other is from the depths of earth who can't go back down (I think it was all that candy he ate). In any case, they are happy with Yuuka-san and try to find their way back to their homes at their own pace.
The animation is similar to the other OLM anime, this way it's really cute and childish. I tell you this now, don't go into this anime if you think it's any better than the other cute OLM anime. It's not that interesting so don't say I didn't tell you so.
For this Anime, there was not one episode where I would feel bored watching. It captured my attention through all of it because of how cute the creatures were. That's not the only reason, the other reason was that the episodes were short, quick, and to the point with a detailed story. It was more like a magical girl type of theme where an instrument would be used by the main character and it would summon powers!
What could've been better was if the actual plot had at least a bigger reason... I understood that Chi-chan had to repay his debt (since Yuka-chan saved his life),
but I could tell he wasn't doing a really good job, so the storyline was a bit wonky.
