Bloodivores

Bloodiverse is the representation of the 'random bullshit go' meme. Every event happening in the anime has no explanation and you be prepared to follow this rule: expect the unexpected all the time. Nothing is explained, nothing is foreshadowed, stuffs just happen because why not. There is no established rule for the world, no worldbuilding, and literally any shit can happen: from someone becoming a werewolf to someone becoming a blade by touching a naked red statue found inside tremors monsters.

Also the contrast tone of the series trying to force a 'drama' tone while ridiculous stuff are happening on screen is hilarious... Don't know if ... this effect was intended but some characters behaviour are just hilarious while the tone and music makes it feel like we are supposed to be feeling sad...

Bloodivores is a decent POS based on a Chinese manhua with superb art and animation.

While many people are quick to judge on calling this anime one of the worst creations and adaptations simply because of its source material (somewhat racial undertone, no?) and relatively unknown producer, I found the anime enjoyable at times.

Let's be frank, Bloodivores is a full-fledged, whole season anime production that is a Chinese-Japanese collaboration of many more projects, hopefully, to come. Outside of Art, Sound and Animation, the anime doesn't live up to any expectations and falls far short, of I think, even the suits at Haoliners. It really has a ... terrible story, with little to no character development that has led me to give this a 4 on the enjoyment scale and a 6 overall.

After the first episode, I did a bit of research on the source material to see how well it compares to the anime and based on several chapters, the manhua's story is at fault for the terrible story in the animation. There is no cohesion nor character build-up or back-story and anime actually tried to provide that with original content and pace. The story itself in both versions, while pretty much the same, is not original or bring something new that hasn't been seen before.

The one aspect of the manhua and the anime which has remained consistent is the Art. Surprisingly, it is equal if not better to the current art styles of the anime and manga industry. One would think because it is a manhua, the artist would put a Chinese spin similar to well-known manhua like Bowling King, but the artist took a different direction.

Due to the art style which caters favourably to both the Chinese and Japanese market, I believe Haoliners took on the project while Tencent (one of the largest Chinese investment companies that has a foot in everything from video games like League of Legends to social media and IM) marketed it to both the Chinese and Japanese anime industries.

Given the current state of the Japanese anime industry where studios are literally scrambling to find the next big thing, running out of original ideas and trying to avoid producing sequels and adapting bad manga (because some manga artists refuse to sell-out), we will be seeing more Chinese and Japanese collaborative works in the same vein as Bloodivores that will hopefully have better stories and characters. Bloodivores, I think is test-bed to better works from the Chinese anime industry and I really hope to see more.

P.S. I know they can produce quality anime as we've seen in their films, but we desperately need seasonal anime that can live up to those standards.

This anime breaks so many of the conventions it's genuinely irritating to watch.

**SPOILERS INC**

They set up a series of rules and scenarios and then break their own rules and in those scenarios, there was an initial story and universe put in place that were then completely disregarded as the writers/artists decided to just plough on ahead with what they think would be cool to do, this seems like it was basically improvised on the spot as they were animating it.

Mi Liu says his power only works when he's looking at a point and that he can't go too far because the distance has to be ... something he would normally survive- Yet this doesn't stop Mi Liu from flying backwards, halfway through a warehouse in the second/third episode and also flying through the city around episode 9/10.

The monsters are unscathed by Shin Lee's blades in the warehouse and his blades are broken, yet later on he's able to cut them apart just fine with one swing- it's never alluded that his hemomancy improves his swords and is assumed they're ordinary swords since he ate one of them as a prerequisite to awaken his hemomancy.

In episode 10, a berserk Shin Lee impales what is presumably the tail of a monster dwelling within a building to the ground with some 20+ swords. Yet later in episode 11 all of these swords are gone as Mi Liu picks up the tail and aims it at Shin Lee.

We are led to believe in the first episode when the BST shoots and kills a berserk Bloodivore that there is no way but to kill one when they go berserk, yet later on we see that Mi Liu, by knocking them out, is able to break their berserk state (so why don't the BST use stun guns?)
Not only that, we also see that after the blood transfusion from Mi Liu which is somehow done via mouth (I guess they neglected to mention anything to do with digestion and that Bloodivores are also vampires able to suck blood directly into their bloodstream) that Anji breaks her own berserk state by feeding until she passes out, this makes sense but then why is it that Mi Liu didn't die at this point and why is it that Anji is so badly hurt, that she dies, after she not only received a blood transfusion but then also fed?


Overall this is the single most irritating anime I've ever watched. The universe isn't consistent, the rules don't matter. This is exactly what you'd expect from a shonen gag anime, it's nothing but mediocre fight scenes which recycle the same animation over and over with frankly annoying sound bytes, there are actually moments in this anime when there is nothing happening whilst characters look stagnantly at each other and nothing is animated.

I expected this to be a great anime but i was so wrong about it.ep 01 was interesting first 10 minutes but after that it all went the wrong way.I finished the anime because i had nothing else to do and honestly i seen worse but i seen way way better anime then this.I usually give 7 or more to anime that i liked and for me to give it a score of 5,that is something that doesn't happen very often

_Plot_ : Everything is covered in mystery and instead of revealing some of them with almost every episode we get new ones and plot just ... became worse and worse,don't get me wrong its not terrible show but its not something i would recommend either

_Characters_ : there is almost no development here,MC is cold blooded most of the time and when he shows his caring side its still lacking proper emotions for us to connect with him,His friend/gf (they are still working on it) Anji is worthless,she finally do something in final 2 episodes but even then its not much and first 10 episodes she is just in the way.We also have an assassin,OP criminal as antagonist,their 2 friends who aren't even needed in the story since they pretty much don't help with the plot or anything.

_Art_ : nothing special,mediocre at best

I hope that if there will be S2 they will work on it and make it better then this one and honestly unless S2 comes out this show is not something that needs to be watched,ofc everyone has the right to their opinion and some might even love this anime but for me and many others its mediocre,the choice is yours but i would wait for S2,if that doesn't happend then just move on to the next anime

This anime is basically Tokyo Ghoul x Deadman Wonderland and I was quite disappointed...

Story:5/10

The story was quite whack, a spin off of different anime's such as the ones I listed above, It was confusing, from the first episode... I still don't understand it I'm completely baffled. Predictable plot, useless characters, no character depth. This is why I don't like watching anime's that are only 12/13 episodes if there will be no sequel because they are Rubbish!!!

Art:3/10

For once I got something to say about the art. It was terrible, some of the characters looked okay but some of the angles looked like my 4 year ... old sister's doodling. It was horrible...

Sound:5/10
I liked the opening, that's all I can say about sound.

Guys... I'm not even going to waste your time on this one, don't watch this anime it wasted my time and it will waste yours.

STORY: Years ago, there was an outbreak that caused people to be converted into vampires and attack the city due to the medicine's side effects that claims to be a cure. Now they are monitored by the Bureau of Special Threat Management (special unit). Since the main characters got arrested and received a death sentence… they were transported to a sanctuary where they are to remain segregated and in exile from the world.  Meanwhile, they face an unexpected twist of turn of events where it looks like it is for every person for themselves -- Escaping this place alive (Sounds like the hunger games/Battle royal). ... In the anime, there are two police officers investigating this matter. They also have a target on their backs since someone doesn't want them to know the fates of the prisoners. Hemomancers are basically their special abilities (i.e.: super speed, or having swords coming out of your back like a porcupine). 
 
CHARACTERS:  
Mi Liu: Child of hope, has issues with his Dad, born human, but became a bloodivore (thanks to his parents). His Dad is the Director of BST and his Mom was a scientist. He is kind, clever and has feelings for Anji. 
Anji Zo: Friend and confidant of Mi Liu. She also has feelings for him. And she is very caring and looking out for others. 
Chen Fong: Was bullied at a young age, but he is kind. Turns out he has feelings for Anji. 
Win Chao: Friend of the group, defended Chen Fong at a young age when they first met, distanced himself from his friends when they were inside the prison. 
 
OVERALL: It's a very interesting anime to watch. Turns out the anime is based on an online Chinese comic book called Time Prisoners by Bai Xiao. There's not a lot of explanation when it comes to bloodivores and hemomancers, however; if you guys enjoy the action fighting scenes with mystery, vampires and survival… then this is the one for you.
