These classic series aired on Nickelodeon back in the 80s and 90s.

Before the network began focusing on creating its own in-house animation in the 90s, it relied heavily on foreign programming. In addition to Japanese content, Nickelodeon also purchased airing rights to a number of European shows, such as the fondly-remembered Spanish series "The World of David the Gnome" and the French-produced "Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea". The network's interest in purchasing foreign animation eventually fizzled out after the "Nicktoons" brand's rise in popularity.

They might think they're cartoons, but they are actually anime! Perfect for showing your parents that you like the same things they do.

Anime aired in Spain's TV channels (public or private), listed with the Spanish title. Might be missing some or be messy: I wanted to add the most important but also the less obvious. Excluding most sequels & movies.

IMPORTANT: Check part 2, 3, 4 and 5 + OVA.

[Please let me know of any errors]

Hello everyone, I will try to list here a long list of anime that have been broadcast on French television, being as faithful as possible.

The 80s represent the very first generation of successful Japanese cartoons to land on televisions of the time.
This wave is mainly marked by the youth program "Récré A2" broadcast from July 3, 1978 until June 29, 1988 on the Antenne 2 channel.

There are also some films and series that date from before 1978 in this list but they did not have a huge impact in France, the year 1978 especially marks the arrival of Grendizer [UFO Robo Grendizer] who was a real pop-cultural tidal wave for years, which we still see its influence today. It will of course be accompanied by equally cult anime throughout the 80s and 90s.

(Sorry for some missing anime, usually it's because they're not on MAL)

(And also I'm doing this whole thread by translating it on google translate, sorry in advance for the bad turns of phrase)

They are not all obviously, I put the ones that I think are the most interesting, known for those who want to add anime to their list.
I focus more on Latin Spanish but if I know someone from Spain I add it

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

No estan todos obviamente, puse los que creo son los más interesantes, conocidos para quien quiera agregar animes a su lista.
Me enfoco más en el español latino pero si conozco alguno de España lo agrego

Those are animes which I saw somehow when I was kid, I mean I could only catch a glimpse of it and not necessarily watch some episodes, but I just remember they where aired when I was like from 5 up to 13 years old. Till today, nostalgia somehow hits me when I think about it.
Contains only first series without its sequels.

These anime have dubbing in albanian, and have been at one point in time on the kids channel where they are transmitted. (No other channel currently airs them.)
We all know and love some of these anime and they have a big dose of nostalgia in both the feelings that they gave us as kids and also the voices of the people that dubbed these shows. A very appreciated hard work from their side.
Also a list with good animes.
This list may be incomplete.

Suggestions welcome.

Also should contain Bible Black but including hentai in the stack would remove its visibility unfortunately.

Part Three of the retro sensation that is gripping the nation! For better or worse these are the anime worth your time from days gone by.

Part One: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/30488
Part Two: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/30490
Part Four: https://myanimelist.net/stacks/30811

Note: Moderators had taken down the stacks before, since it was not wholly information based. I will post this as a note as to why such series are essential in order to defend them all as a blanket statement.

Most of the series featured have some sort of significance in terms of first best or darkest for their era which can be categorized by decennium or part of a decennium (early, middle, late). These are mixed around in order in order to give those who subscribed to list a challenge. While I could give an individual breakdown, I think some research is better left up to those who have subscribed to the stacks, since this allows for additional cultural insight into what was popular in Japan at the time, which is sometimes disconnected from the United States, as well as the rest of North America and Europe in many ways. For example, the Crayon Shin-Chan that aired in the United States and Canada is different to the one that aired in Europe, is different to the one that aired in Japan. By recommending to seek out Japanese versions of series, it grows understanding. I am not the first one to have thought of this. In the United States, there used to be a channel called ImaginAsian TV which had the same purpose of informing people about Japanese popular culture through anime. The San Francisco and San Diego PBS stations did the same thing and NHK World Japan carries this on through series like Little Charo and previously Maiko-san Chi no Makanai-san.

I think it is agreed upon that retro is a niche, but with handicaps on subject matter like availability.
