Hello everyone, I will try to list here a long list of anime that have been broadcast on French television, being as faithful as possible.

The 80s represent the very first generation of successful Japanese cartoons to land on televisions of the time.
This wave is mainly marked by the youth program "Récré A2" broadcast from July 3, 1978 until June 29, 1988 on the Antenne 2 channel.

There are also some films and series that date from before 1978 in this list but they did not have a huge impact in France, the year 1978 especially marks the arrival of Grendizer [UFO Robo Grendizer] who was a real pop-cultural tidal wave for years, which we still see its influence today. It will of course be accompanied by equally cult anime throughout the 80s and 90s.

(Sorry for some missing anime, usually it's because they're not on MAL)

(And also I'm doing this whole thread by translating it on google translate, sorry in advance for the bad turns of phrase)
Hakujaden
Movie, 1958, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast : May 30, 1962
first French name : "La Légende de madame Pai Niang"
Second french name (2004 redub) : "Le serpent blanc" (commonly used name today)

It is the very first Japanese animated feature film to be released in French cinemas.
Its release made very little noise because the film was shown in very few cinemas in the country, mainly in Paris I suppose.
Obake no Q-tarou
TV, 1965, 96 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast : From 1967 to 1968
French name : ???

Broadcast during the program "Japanese evenings" on the second channel of the ORTF, only one episode of this series was broadcast in the original version with subtitles

This is also the case for "Mirai Kara Shonen Super Jetter", but this anime is not available on the site.
Jungle Taitei: Susume Leo!
TV, 1966, 26 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast : December 20, 1972
French name : "Le Roi Léo"

Chronologically, there should be the series "Iruka to shōnen" ("Oum le dauphin") broadcast in 1971, but the anime is not present on the site.
It is however important because it is the very first Japanese cartoon to be broadcast on the territory (and not Jungle Taitei), the very first French cartoon to be broadcast in Japan as well as the very first, Franco- Japanese for a cartoon. A collaboration that will be far from being an exception in the 80s, many dual nationality productions will see the light of day, some of which will become cult.

To return to Jungle Taitei, known in France as "Le Roi Léo", it was broadcast from December 20, 1972 on the first French channel, ORTF.
Moreover, only the second series was broadcast at the time, it will be necessary to wait more than 18 years to see the first time the original series of 1965 in France, under the name "Le retour du roi Léo" on September 17, 1990.
Ribbon no Kishi
TV, 1967, 52 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: December 1974 on TF1
French name : "Prince Saphir" then after "Princesse Saphir"
Local opening (1st version under "Prince Saphir) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOQiRpf0u7E
Local opening (2nd version under "Princesse Saphir) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4CBGiLgTYgM
Cyborg 009
Movie, 1966, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast : During the 70's
French name : "Cyborg 009 : 009 contre 003"

Released in French theaters at the time, it has become very difficult to find any information on its distribution. The slightest French dub has become untraceable, it's a real lost media.
Cyborg 009: Kaijuu Sensou
Movie, 1967, 1 ep Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast : During the 70's
French name : "Cyborg 009 : ???"

Same as the previous film in the saga.
UFO Robo Grendizer
TV, 1975, 74 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: July 3, 1978 on Récré A2 (Antenne 2)
French name : "Goldorak"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wVZp158lDY or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOO3LgzXdYg or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jUdsa9mDbMQ idk there are way too many version

July 3, 1978 is a pivotal date because not only is it the broadcast of the very first episode of the mythical Goldorak but also the day of the first episode of Récré A2, the youth program broadcast every Wednesday afternoon having marked a whole generation, which saw the arrival of cult anime from the 70s and 80s.

The enthusiasm that Grendizer arouses at this time is completely disproportionate, he is the star of the playgrounds. All television channels and newspapers talk about it, it has become a real social issue.

But all this without the criticism of the most conservative among parents who see Japanese animation with a bad eye, considered violent and of poor quality, often qualified as perverting youth.
This contempt was present for a long time until the early 2010s for ordinary people in France, even if France has always been a huge consumer of anime and manga in the world and the otaku niche has always been present since the 90s.

It's Go Nagai's work best known to the general public, far ahead of Mazinger Z and Getter Robo. Moreover, UFO Robo Grendizer is the third series of the Mazinger saga (Mazinger Z (1972) --> Great Mazinger (1974) --> UFO Robo Grendizer), but the previous series were not broadcast at this time where we had very little success in France, where in Japan it is quite the opposite.
Candy Candy
TV, 1976, 115 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: September 13, 1978 on Récré A2 (Antenne 2)
French name : "Candy"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zNRVyoDuqrg

Important anime of the first wave, it especially marked the millions of young girls of the time. Still as cult today, if you asked a 50-year-old in 2022, there's a good chance she'd answer Candy.
He also demonstrated that Japanese animation is not just for boys, it's a medium that can affect everyone.
Mitsubachi Maya no Bouken
TV, 1975, 52 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: September 16, 1978 on TF1
French name : "Maya l'abeille"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l5igWxSPDaI
Chiisana Viking Vickie
TV, 1974, 78 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: July 9, 1979 on TF1
French name : "Vic le Viking"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0OfgAAeQkIc
Alps no Shoujo Heidi
TV, 1974, 52 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: December 22, 1979 on Récré A2 (Antenne 2)
French name : "Heidi"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FUb9Pg7KmEM

Often considered apart from the rest because many people simply did not know that it was a Japanese production. Indeed, these productions such as Heidi and later Tom Sawyer are part of Nippon Animation's "World Masterpiece Theater", a vast animation project that traces the great classics of children's literature from novels, most of them European. These animes were therefore mainly intended for a Western audience than an Eastern one, hence the sanitization of the typical style of animes to better correspond to a more global style that will please everyone.
Uchuu Kaizoku Captain Herlock
TV, 1978, 42 eps Me:- Author:-
Date of first French broadcast: January 7, 1980 on Récré A2 (Antenne 2)
French name : "Albator"
Local opening version : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dws6s7RPcQ0

The major work of Leiji Matsumoto is also a must in France. It's as popular as a Grendizer or a Candy.
The Altantis (or the Arcadia depending on the series or the country) has deeply marked the collective unconscious.
Captain Future
TV, 1978, 52 eps Me:- Author:-
