Tatakae!! Iczer-1

Reluctance and grief of the heroes are the biggest themes. Nagisa is a female proto-Shinji.  

Babes fighting with supernatural powers. Lots of fan service and action. Most or all characters are hot chicks. 

It is a lot of fun to see just how much Rayearth II references Iczer-1 while the two shows are very much different. Toshiki Hirano directed both and did the character designs for Iczer. I think its no surprise to learn that Iczer-1 is Hikaru, but I won't tell you all the parallels, have fun finding them.  

Vapor Trail definitely took some inspiration from the Iczer-1 OVA. Both have yuri and there are similarities between the villains. 

Violent, gory, and deeply stylistic OVAs that are illustrated through beautiful animation. Decently potent emotion portrayed in a rather short runtime. A robust soundtrack adds to the experience in a major way. 

The Rayearth OVA is basically just a PG-13 recitation of Iczer-1, so you obviously don't get the steamy Yuri vibes and tentacle rape abound that you do with Iczer. Both were directed by the madcap Hirano Toshiki and both present a very similar narrative outline: Earth gets invaded by extrinsic forces leaving the target cities completely ravaged, causing a random, callow schoolgirl (or girls, in the case of Rayearth) to be inexplicably chosen, by an unearthly being(s), as the predestined savior(s) of the planet. Oh, and then they all get into giant fuckin' robots and thwack the shit out of each other. The end. 

These anime have similar gore scenes. Both have the same 80' vibe.  

Lesbian robot girls. 

A human girl allies with alien girls to fight more aliens. Yuri is involved. 

Main character (Shou) finds an orb that fused physically with his body turning him into a formidable soldier called 'Guyver'. There's a corporation that wants this Guyver unit and sends out biological monsters to get it. Shou has to protect himself from this group. Both series have a similar feeling to it with graphic sequences, violence and gore 

Spotlight on the ladies, space storie´s , 1980´s cheesy voiceovers , funny and at some parts really intense plots, but not over the top :) 

Both are heavily romance and lesbian themed Anime. Kannazuki and Iczer are also mecha and sci-fi anime.
