I included those anime which are realistic and relatable. You can relate to the characters and events in the anime with your own life.

Well, how should I explain this? All the weirdest things in the weirdest box, what do you expect lol
Whether things are weird or not depends on each person's point of view, when you see too many weird things, your mind will consider those things as normal and not as weird as the first time...

mindfuck but cool, u might get depression though

if u actually watch this, u fucking need therapy

NOT OFFICIAL this is the stereotype anime picks for anime elitist genre.

Anime elitist explores the genre of psychological horror with a li bit of advance mecha, techno combined leaving hints of philosophy and theology. (but honestly its just underrated anime with a mc being a sigma male)

for incels, femcels with unhinged female rage and gays and acclaimed hot people this is 4 u

These are shows that I personally think are well-rounded, psychological, anti-escapist anime with good literary and aesthetic value that non-anime fans should be happy to enjoy.

I've personally watched many of these shows multiple times with friends and family.

Usually these shows have a small and well-defined scope, rather than having a giant universe.

This list compiles a few series that are great recommendations for someone who wants to see a story play out from start to finish in very little time. In order to get on this list, you need to meet some criteria:

1.) Must be under 30 episodes. If there are movies, those will each count as one episode. Remakes, recaps, re-tellings, and alternate universe stories will not count toward the 30 episode limit.

2.) Must have a solid, definitive conclusion. The series can't have just stopped airing, it needs to have had a real ending. No cliffhangers, no incomplete adaptations, and no "read the manga" endings.

3.) Cannot have canonical movies, episodes, or seasons in development at time of writing. This invalidates FLCL and Madoka Magica.

Vaporwave is a music and visual aesthetic that emerged in the early 2010s and is characterized by its use of samples from 80s and 90s pop culture, creating a nostalgic and dreamlike atmosphere. While there is no specific genre of anime that is vaporwave, many anime series and films have been noted for using certain elements that have made them popular among vaporwave enthusiasts. Here is a list of essential vaporwave anime that you might enjoy:

The films contain at least some of the following elements that contribute to Vaporwave:

-Aesthetics and Neon
-Vintage CGI
-90s consumerism
-80s/90s business/corporate life and setting
-70s thru 90s Asian culture
-Liminal space and cinematography/ minimalism
-Light toned color palette (especially white, pink and cyan)
-Digital revolution and post-internet
-Funky/pop/electronic music/OST and subgenre of Chillwave
-Philosophical and sometimes depressing themes on existentialism
-Avant garde, mind-bending, surreal storyline/narration
-Subgenres of mallsoft, officesoft, futurefunk, virtual utopia, cyberpunk and more.

Heisei Internet Anxiety refers to a cultural phenomenon in Japan that emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, during the Heisei era (1989-2019), characterized by a sense of unease and disconnection brought on by the rise of the internet and digital technology.

As more and more people in Japan began to use the internet and mobile devices to communicate and consume media, concerns arose about the impact of this technology on social and personal relationships, as well as on mental health. In particular, the phenomenon of "hikikomori" (social withdrawal) became a topic of public concern, with some people attributing it to the isolating effects of internet use.

At the same time, the internet was becoming a source of anxiety and uncertainty for many people, as the rapid pace of technological change and the sheer volume of information available online made it difficult to keep up and maintain a sense of control over one's online presence. This led to a sense of disorientation and disconnection from both the physical world and from one's own identity.

H.I.A anime often delve into topics such as:

1) Social Isolation: Depicting characters who struggle with feelings of loneliness and disconnection in an increasingly digitized world.

2) Identity Crisis: Exploring the blurring boundaries between the physical and digital realms, and the challenges individuals face in defining their identities in the online sphere.

3) Virtual Reality: Examining the allure and dangers of virtual spaces, as well as the consequences of becoming too immersed in digital worlds.

4) Online Communities: Portraying the dark side of internet culture, including cyberbullying, harassment, and the spread of misinformation.

5) Existential Themes: Raising questions about the nature of reality, consciousness, and the human condition in an age dominated by technology.

Here are some essential H.I.A anime:

Inspired by bel’s list on letterboxd

https://letterboxd.com/ellefnning/list/for-when-you-want-to-feel-something/

A list filled with a wide variety of animes that’ll inflict emotions of some sort, whether it’s positive or negative (or perhaps even a mix of both). All the animes listed here are animes that has personally affected me, for better or for worse. I hope you can find something here that at least wouldn’t feel like another boring isekai and hopefully leaves some sort of lasting impact on your mind.

For simplicity’s sake, any animes with multiple entries I’ll only add the first entry and drop the most ideal watch order next to it.

This list will be constantly updating as I’m still watching more animes, so look out for more entries in the future!

Psychological animes. From dark animes that make you think, then more normal ones that are still psychological.
Still adding to the list!

anime with little to no oversexualization/hypersexualization of female characters. no harems regardless of horniness because it's still weird & misogynistic. i tried to avoid shows that simply have little to no girls at all. i'm tired of feeling grossed out by every anime/manga !!
