Here is a short review from me on this beautiful series called Onegai Sensei.

I would like to start with the story. I say it is a 9. The story is about the romance a person with a disease that puts him into a near dead state for random period of time and an older women who is his teacher and an alien. Quite interesting, isn't it? Although I loved the story, one thing I felt about it was that it could have been a little more detailed. The story is slightly rushed, I would say. It could have been more intriguing is some parts were ... taken slower. But all said it is beautiful.

Art: Well the character designs and all other stuff in the anime are quite well drawn. Only complain here is the initial look of the protagonist. Though it is not that bad so, well I would give it a 7.

Sound: The soundtrack of the show is truly fitting to it. Sometimes the sound is what moves you more than the story. This kind of a sound track is very well suited for a romance in my opinion. Also, the voice actors perfectly match the character art as well as behavior. Hence, the sound, I give 8.

Character: The characters of this anime are all lovable but as I said earlier that the story was rushed and hence, the same is the case for the characters. Their development is obviously rushed. But the brighter side of the characters is that all of them are quite distinct and seem original so I guess the characters get a 7 too.

Enjoyment is a 8 for me. Personally I loved the series. Frankly completed it in a day. I have exams going on you know?

That is all I would like to say. Overall I say the anime is a 8 which is pretty good. The benefit is that it is complete. Nothing has been left out so you don't have to feel the pain of watching a cliff hanger. Obviously, the review is from a critical point of view but I say watch it. Lovely watch.

Honestly i watched the opening of Onegai teacher years before i decided to watch it and immediately passed judgement onto it. Back at the time, the idea of teacher x student seamed so obscene and i wasn't at all willing to watch something like that. along with that, their relationship seamed so boring and romantic.
Truth be told i was wrong about myself and the anime. ever since then Onegai teacher opened up a door full of interesting, funny, scandalous and riveting anime.
It focuses on a boy named Kei with a rare disease that he calls a "stand still" sort of like a coma, who develops ... an unacceptable crush on his new teacher Mizuho who is a half human, half alien.
The anime isn't really what you would expect from just watching the opening, and is quite funny, yet mature at the same time, showing that a comfortable marriage life is actually quite hard to obtain... especially if you rush into it.
There is a lot of humor with Mizuho, who seams to make every man fall for her and her obsession with pocky sticks and humor with Kei as well who despite being small and looking adorkable, seams to get girl attention as well, and has trouble keeping his loud, hilarious uncle in line.
the anime is cute, fun, somewhat ecchi, slice of life and somewhat shonen. it has something for almost everyone and is almost impossible not to enjoy.

How can any girl fall in love with you??? ..simple!! you have to Accidentally know her life's biggest secret and then you have to tell your biggest secret and you have to keep each other's secret don't tell it anyone that's all. That's not me telling you but this anime tells you that. Seriously if you do have any crush on your teacher before... after watching this anime i'm sure for at night you will thought about her.. you definitely will!!!. I watch many romance anime before but not this type of romance ..with your teacher in romantic way ..Its just awesome..i'm sure if ... you romance lover and seek different type of romance anime you might get new type here.

Story: 10/9
The story is start around a 15 year old kei one nigh he just sit on lake side and talk about some universe stuff and that time suddenly A UFO came and in this there is in one woman came out and he frustrated and fall down..when he wake up it's already morning ..than he go to school and suddenly find out that he has new homeroom teacher who is none other then that alien woman before and also he finds out that she is also his new neighbor...what's gong on he definitely not have any clue but after that what happens and how they fall in love and oops its not just 2 of them but also its love triangle.. whom he choose and how it end up its very interesting..so i give it a 9 to story.

Sound:
yup i give sound 9..because i like stating and ending songs very much.also when there is any romance scene the sound is perfectly match it ohhh i love it. And also some sad point the sound is pretty sad too.. i get emotional because of it!!.

Character:
about the Character deign hands off..i give it 10.
fist of all i talk about MC kazami mam ..ohh my ..may be she is one the hot and sexyest teacher of anime world in my dictionary. she has three different type of looks!!yup three .. first one is her school out fit where she wearing a classes and it gives her sexy hot and teacher look .. 2nd one is when she is at her home .. you definitely wanna see her at her home she looks like different person ..and 3rd one is her alien outfit looks it is gave her very modern and bold looks ..so her character design is something else i don't no what it is but you definitely fall for her one the look.
And now talk about other MCs they do have some attractive design .. and yes all females are look very cute. MC kei also have good voice and character design its hard that MC is wear a glasses but its look good on him.

Art:
about the art is definitely very good ..a space ship.. the town all looks very beautiful.also the mountain and MC's home and his friends home all looks are good. The beach senses are really romantics. I"m sure you will like the art. i give it 10.

Enjoyment:
about the Enjoyment i give this anime 10 out of 10.
because it has everything that a good romance ..drama anime wanna have!!!.to be honest i started this anime at 8 p.m and completed it at 1 .am !!!!!
yes its shocking for me too.. but i really really enjoy it and i wanna tell it to someone too..but no one at home listen to me ..so i tell you people here ..it has lots of enjoyment... and yes i enjoy it to in my dreams ..sound unnecessary but yes i was enjoyed it.. so i hope my review was helpful to in choosing this anime is worth to watch or not.

Onegai☆Teacher is a beautiful anime about love and life. Its visuals are probably not the best but the story and concept will grasp your heart tightly if you are a big fan of Senseis.

I've lost too many times watching this show. Too many times. I kept losing it. Losing and losing. I kept losing that it just doesn't matter how many times I lost anymore.

The story is great until about half-way through the series where the drama slides in. Honestly it was both unpleasant and satisfactory at the same time. This is a romance after all. You wouldn't expect there to be no ... drama at all. After all the drama everything just pretty much felt like a "meh'" until the end.

The main reason why I gave this anime a 10/10 is not because of the story nor the art but the characters themselves. It is nearly impossible to find an anime where a student has a relationship with a teacher. Nearly impossible. In fact, I think that this is the only anime where it fully focuses on a teacher-student relationship hence its awesome.

As I said before, I've lost too many times watching this therefore it is 10/10. Don't @ me.

Well… This was an interesting storyline and yet it felt much like every other harem style love stories out there. It was a bit unimpressive if you break it down into the small composites. We have a rather bland guy in which all the girls love, falls for a girl who is not a normal women but other people get in the middle of their love and so the never-ending cock block commences. The whole show is a big school-life-awkward story. And its really funny that I have started reading the manga and it starts out a bit more exciting then the anime.

Kei is the ... most boring character I have to say. If he didn’t have the standstill, he wouldn’t have anything interesting about him. Let me describe him for you and lets see how many characters have the same description. He’s a weakling with glasses and a rather bland hairstyle. He’s kind hearted and seems like he likes everything to be normal. He lives in a town where he says nothing really ever changes and likes it.

Marie is the only character that I really like but yet he gets such little screen time that I have to frown about it. He is what most of the mishaps and comedy is supposed to be around in that he is basically the master control program for Mizuho’s ship but the very first episode, he ends up getting scrambled and so most of the time (When things actually do happen with Marie), Kei and Mizuho end up getting teleported in strange places or not getting teleported at all when they should have been. This happens rarely to the point of almost not happening.

The opening pretty much looks like it should have been the opening for a Dating Sim but as far as I know; this wasn’t based on a game. It really should be with how somewhat boring the whole show is made out to be. The ending is basically all still images and a very slow music. The music is rather uninspiring, feeling very dull much like the whole anime. It’s like they tried to make it like Air but fell flat.

The animation is bland and though its rather well done, the beauty doesn’t really change how bad it can be at times. I consider it much like a somewhat bland form of Key Animation artwork. Sometimes faces are a bit squashed or seem to be drawn rather fast making them feel unnatural even by anime standards and most characters are almost like copycat characters from other series. I have no clue why they felt the need to block out some things that really aren’t supposed to be blocked out like some of the Technological stuff.

The English voices are what you would expect for a half assed production. Some come out a bit too forceful, others not forceful enough, and many of them rather annoying. Hyosuke is way to energetic and always seeming like he’s trying to get attention all the time but in the end, he sounds like a complete idiot. All of the characters, he’s the most annoying.

All in all, this is a rather bland show with bland story and bland music that makes this not stand out among the other shows.

What I noticed upon watching this anime was its unique graphics and storyline. As a fan of relatively oldschooled animes I wanted to give this a try... as it seemed promising with both storyline and character developments... I will be writing a spoilerless review of the anime Onegai Teacher...

Kusanagi Kei is a young boy different from other boys. While his real age is 18, he looks like a 15 year old physically due to a disease he has... The disease is similar to that of a coma... The disease is refered to Kei himself as standstills as this is a disease yet to be known ... by other doctors in the world.. and he once entered a standstill for a total amount of 3 years, making his body enter a half dead state, not breathing with only faint signs of life along with him.. However, still being alive. He hides the fact of his disease for school and friends. Believed to be a 15 year old, he lives his life making friends and maintaining his normal lifestyle up until a day with a fateful encounter to him... Gazing at the stars, he happens to notice a spaceship landing in the water.. a beautiful girl on the other side of the lake before him, She takes his breath away.. however, she doesn't seem completely human... The next day he finds himself in a strange position finding out that this girl from last night, joins as his new homeroom teacher.. As the storyline progresses the two have to face up to multiple obstacles, and romantic feelings starts to spark deep within the two of them, However unknowingly... Onegai Teacher is an anime with suspense, drama, romance and yes... it does have the scifi element, however I'm not particularly a fan of the scifi genre.. so in order for me to like Onegai teacher whom in reality is built on scifi elements.. that would make the anime relatively good, or the scifi not to exaggerated as it can be in many other animes.

The anime gives its characters good developments with personalities aswell with sideplots, however I'm not gonna go into details as doing so would be a spoiler in itself... The story was one that didn't make me cry, but upon reading comments.. lots of people did upon watching it...

I really recommend this anime to people who like romance as a main genre, and the scifi is likeable even to non scifi fans, give it a try.

Onegai Teacher focuses on the story of an 18 year old boy named Kusanagi Kei. Kei however doesn't quite fit with his classmates at school, he's much more mature and that makes him stand out. The reason for this is because his classmates are 15 and as we find out a bit later in the series, Kei sufferes from a condition called "standstill". He falls into coma whenever he's under sever stress. While in coma, he ages in mind but not in body.

It's quite easy to figure out then, that Kei had a 3 year "standstill" and now he's attending class with people 3 ... years younger than him. It's an interesting start to the story which will only get weirder, or shall I say, more interesting later on. It just so happens that one day a flying saucer comes down to his home city and hovers above the surface of a near-by lake. Kusanagi rushes to the scene and upon closer inspection realises that the spacecraft is of alien origin. It is then that he meets the alien life form, which... looks exacly like a human being. And it's a female. We then find out that the alien in question is some sort of an observer sent to monitor the life on earth and turns out to be Kei's new teacher the very next day.

That's when the real story starts. Some viewers complained about the lack of originality, i.e an alien that looks exacly like a human, I mean yeah, they could have given her different ears or something but personally I think the character fits very well with the series. Besides, the story is the main strength of this anime since it cleverly focuses on issues such as romance, friendship and growing up. The last part is actually the most important one in the whole story, you can see the transition of the characters, from an immature bunch to a somewhat more responsible and sensible group of people. It's amazing considering the fact that this anime series has ONLY 12 episodes.

The characters themselves are interesting and suprisingly, most of them have amazing breadth and depth. From a towering blond-haired goliath to a small, calm girl with a knowledge beyond her years. You'll definitively find a character you'll identify yourself with, and for those of you who enjoy a bit of comedy there's plenty of comic relief provided by various characters like Marie or the hilariously nerdy teacher, Masami Yamada. All in all, the cast is a mix of characters with their own problems which they all come to solve in the end. A nice bonus here is that the story doesn't exclusively focus on the male lead but does also give other characters "side-stories" so to speak and that keeps the anime fresh and interesting right until the very end.

The art is a bit sketchy but that can be expected from a 10 year old anime series, it doesn't spoil the fun and the overall enjoyment however, and that's always a good thing. Likewise, the sound is not the HD stuff you're expected to hear these days but it's alright and it doesn't really bother me. The opening is nice and the same can be said about the ending, nothing tedious.

To sum things up, a great anime with a strong plot that everyone should give a try. Whether you're a fan of romance or not, I guarantee you that the plot in this anime will draw you in and keep you hooked on to the very end.

Most people will look at this series and probably just pass it over.
However it is one of the most satisfying romance titles that I have ever watched.
Each episode cover a distinct and important part of the story.
When you are done, it leave you wanting more.

Yet after awhile of thought you will probably come to the same conclusion I did, that the ending was well done and feel complete.

Unlike many romance series in particular, this one is not all "happy-go-lucky" and carries many connotes of real relationships.

I would say, "If you are thinking of passing this up, don't. Give it a fair chance."

It is an amazing anime and romance to watch. It draws you into the story and it makes you understand the characters. I enjoyed this anime greatly for the reason that it always has an interesting twist, it is all love story and focused solely on that and nothing else, and how funny it get even when the chips are down i would seriously recommend to anybody who likes romance animes to watch this one.

This has to be my most favorite romantic anime yet its extremely nerve racking and keeps you on edge throughout the whole show , yes the opening theme is quite something as well

A must Watch if you like romantic Anime the slightest

Onegai teacher is the older version of To love Ru or any other animes which includes bishoujo aliens that at the very first 2-3 episodes you can see a development between their relationship between the male protagonist. I only remembered after watching a few episodes that the first time I watched this was years ago, way back 2003-2007 and all I can remember was the snack named Pochy which was the favorite of Mizuho and also her family. Back then the animes available in the TV was Slam Dunk and Voltes V and this introduced me to the world of romance in anime.

Story, the episodes ... fit together neatly into a continuous story, making me finish this as soon possible within that day. The story was unique, and I find myself laughing while watching this so I can say I enjoyed it's genres romance, comedy and Sci-fi. I really hoped they added ecchi at it's genre so it would be more captivating. The ending in it's OVA didn't satisfy me a lot because of it's open ending that it only showed the rumor about kusanagi, kei going out with Mizuho, her mother and her little sister, so if there's gonna be a second season it would be better.

Art, because this was aired in the year 2002, it will be the best at that time, same at used as slam dunk. In this times, I wouldn't say it's art were fitting for the story, a remake would make it remarkable and captivating.The character designs was appealing and it matched the character's personality, especially Mizuho.Today, seeing this kind of art used in anime these days, it's like I'm watching some old school hentai hahahaha, but I really liked it.

Sounds, the Voice actors were fit to the characters they portrayed, Those BGM's fits to the story and atmosphere but of course these days you wouldn't notice it because it's a little bit old. The Open and Ending Songs didn't catch me and I didn't like it that much.

About the characters, I noticed that every anime with this kind of story has the same characteristics of the protagonist. All of them are weak, always depending on the girls, and also being troubled by those girls. As for the girls/ alien bishoujo's, they're always aggressive, sometimes clumsy, but they're always cute and understanding, (I hope they really do exist in these world... ). And thanks to mizuho's characteristics and her liking to Pochy (Pocky in the real world) that I remembered about this anime that I have loved so much back then.

Enjoyment? Of course I enjoyed it so much, the only thing I don't like about these kind of anime was the protagonist being an idiot when it comes to Love to their bishoujo aliens. I'm sure I would re-watch it, because the more you watch it, the more you get into that anime. You would understand more out of it than you did when you first watched it. As I said, I have forgotten about it, even the story, but there's only one thing that I didn't forget, Mizuho and her Pochy, she was my first love in the world of anime.

Even though it's a little bit old, it's still good, it made my heart pound. If you're gonna watch alien type of anime with a beautiful girl as a protagonist, I recommend you to watch this, then To love ru series and Haiyore Nyaruko-san.

This show is exilent if you are, looking for laughs, want to see a lively couple try to make it, wanting to see someone running from their friends all the time just to them were they ran to, or just are bored and need something to do. This show catches you even before the opening comes on the first episode. It is fun and lively. You get to see them try to hind their relationship from their friends everyday, and everytime they think they're alone their friends show up. It is great and you love the main charaters. All you want is for them to ... be happy, and maybe not having to hide anymore. I think the characters make this show.

Please teacher is one hell of a ride. This is a short anime with 12 evenly paced episodes with one OVA. The story is rather light and nice. The art style is good considering it came around 2003. Great character design and sounds. Though its a very good anime I preferred that the story should had gone further. There are many comic moments which will make you chuckle and many romantic moments sure to leave a impact on your mind. After 8 episodes the story takes more of a sad take which will make you shed a tear. The message in the show is really ... good, it tells you to move and never stop in life, there are some good and some bad times but one needs to go on without coming to a "stand still". The only bad thing about the anime is that it came to an end pretty soon, I wish it had more episodes. But the end is nice and convincing. I am glad there is an OVA after episode 12 which is a nice addition and really funny to watch. Its based on a somewhat controversial topics with some ecchi(but not that much) moments so its not recommended for younger viewers. Overall for 12 episodes and great story, it is a much watch anime.

This gets a 9 from me simply because the romance goes beyond the will they / won't they, which already puts it ahead of 95% of romance anime. The characters are drawn well, and the voice acting is enjoyable in the sub.

The MC has no character and is drawn like a wet noodle, but his relationship with the romantic interest is engaging and the background story is interesting. The supporting cast really goes a long way to elevate this series.

The love story is teacher/student and it really didn't need to be, since the story doesn't really leverage this taboo.

If you like this, you need to ... watch Ano Natsu de Matteru.

One would think that this is your typical run of the mill love triangle anime, but it's not. The development of the characters and their true-to-life problems are one of the things that sets this anime apart. Between the comic relief of Mizuho fiddling with her personal computer and the bickering that occurs between her and Kei, you can really see how the two exhibit real life problems that couples often have. Although the two get together due to the unusual circumstances, they actually have a lot of chemistry and the relationship feels like it could be ... real. This is what makes this anime so good! It feels real (besides the fact that Mizuho is an alien). It even feels real when Kei is hanging out with his buddies.

However, the plot suffers from relying on all-to-familiar circumstances and cliches which get old as the series drags on. The creators also had to make Kei’s female friends adequate love rivals, as if the marrying-a-space-alien thing didn't already top it off. The side characters, even though they are also given time to develop in the story, get super boring when they randomly pop in to interfere with whats going on between Kei and Mizuho. Its also annoying when the characters, which are given such development, have to jump through hoops and barrels to get to where they're going with the plot. This is unusual for TV anime, as usually it's the characters that ruin it and not the plot. At least there is some originality in the problems that occur as the plot progresses, which leaves the characters just as annoyed as you will be.

For the animation side of it, its very well done. It has nice cinematic scenes for its time, detailed backgrounds that are beautiful, and the character animation is up to standards with what you would expect for a TV anime. The music is nothing special and easily forgettable at times.

What makes "Onegai Teacher!" interesting and enjoyable to watch is the diversity and development of the characters, not the plot. Its worth checking out if your into this kind of anime.

First impressions, so just some back story on this onegai teacher was one of the first rom-con anime I watched when I was starting to get into anime so I think it's about time to review this.

Story,7/10

The story begins with are main character Kai who is living in this small town in the country side in with his uncle in order to help keep an eye on a illness he has,
One day while at the lake he comes across a ufo and sees a pretty women come out of it.
The Next day he meets his new teacher miss ... Kazami who becomes quite popular with the students, after finding out there next door neighbors he helps for move and one things leads to another he finds out that she an Alien and they have to pretend there in a relationship to hide the fact she an alien while also hiding that fact that there now married from the rest of the town.

So when getting into this anime I was pretty surprised with its some what
kinky set up with the romance between a student who is 18 and the teacher who is a human/alien hybrid who was sent from a galactic organization to watch humanity.

The main focus of onegai teacher is the daily life struggles between the two Main characters as they try to hide there relationship from others and the fact that one of them is technically an alien.

One of the things I liked about this part is that the main characters get to know each other I little more and develop a very close bond with one another.
Which is quite interesting to watch because before they where complete strangers,
And I mean by interesting is that in a sense it's kind of realistic,
Not in the whole him getting into a relationship with his teacher or one of them is from a different planet because I don't believe that happens to often or not at all.

But realistic in the sense that these are people that have kind of been forced into a situation and just slowly they start clicking with each other.

Me personally I feel that it's more realistic and natural than two people just meet and they wanting to start relationship right off bat.

I also liked the fact it took the whole taboo relationship thing seriously as well because this could have easily turned into another fan service show with sexual tension,
Which would have gone boring very fast.

Another thing I like about the story is that for once the Main character gets to go all the way to home base home run yah take One for the team. But this takes place in the ova episode so yah look forward to that,
Also it was nice it see that his relationship had progressed to the next level so pat on the back for that.

The other focus is pretty much thing you see in most rom-coms.
School life things and drama that can get a little mallow dramatic at times.
But I think it had it heart in the right place,
And it made a very nice background plot.


Now my biggest complaint I would have to say about onegai teacher,
is that by today's standards it has a very dated presentation and it is pretty much watched for historical purposes.
Which isn't bad per say but it dose make it loose it's punch.

I also think they could off have a few more episodes to help flesh out there relationship more and some of the other characters dramas.

It's also a lot more mature than most rom-com things.
Also if your looking for fan service this show is tame by today's standards.

Characters, 6/10

The main character is pretty average.
It's just that timid guy that's trying to get his life back in order after a major sickness.
but he has some psychological problems that give him a I bit of depth to his character.
I thought the whole thing with his sister killing herself in front of him and him unable to deal with it was I think quite interesting.
Although I wished we had more flash back or foreshadowing about his sister so I you could care more.

The other main character was alright as well still pretty average but her alien background was some what interesting but they really don't explore it that much.


The side characters were pretty one note. But on the plus side there is some character drama that helps flesh put the characters and makes then more relatable. There is also a bit of character development between the main character as he try's to get over his problems.


Art,6/10

The art work was pretty average. It wasn't bad nor good.
But it did an ok job with it,
It just looks very dated.

It has this style that reminds me of older hentai like from the late 1990s to early 2000s
Because if I found this on some random porn site or something along those lines.
by the premise and the art style alone I would have most likely thought while going into it this could be hentai show.

It has very dated character designs,
But I really do like the look of miss Kazami and the main character uncle.


Sounds, 6/10

The opening was pretty fun to listen to.
Other than that there really is nothing else.

Enjoyment, 7/10

So over all I found onegai teacher to be a pretty entertaining over all.

I liked the romance and that it kind of took it seriously.
I also found it comedy funny at times.
I still like it to this day and I still watch for nostalgia purposes. So I like it but for very basis reasons.

Overall. 7/10
If are looking a rom-con that takes it self seriously and some fan service then you will probably like onegai teacher. But if you have seen a lot of rom-con then this will probably do nothing much for you.

Please Teacher is a story of how a sexy alien humanoid teacher decides to fall in love with a boy with the personality about as loveable as the lint you find in the back of your dryer. In fact, watching your clothes dryer tumble around and around could be more enjoyable than watching this.

Hiding their relationship from those around them, our main characters Kei and Mizuho dance around each other's emotions while simultaneously dancing around a flaky script and so many moments of filler. It's a marathon to get through. The novelty of the show's scenario took a couple of episodes to wear off ... but once it did I sat there waiting for the next big 'wow' moment, or the next big development to unfold. But the twists and turns are unsatisfying and the supporting cast are usually cast aside for more Kei screen time, who has the appeal of a root canal.

Mizuho isn't much more exciting. Her main personality trait appears to be having Pocky in her mouth, longing for Kei because... um... he's the main character, and falling into the personality trope more typical of a 14-year-old jealous girlfriend. Riveting viewing. They're a painful couple to watch. Nothing they do, say or think is realistic. It's enough to make you pull your hair out.

There's usually a point in a bad anime where, if you're a couple of drinks deep, it can redeem itself through a so-bad-it's-good moment. Perhaps it's a funny scenario, a laughable piece of dialogue or a fanservice moment that's so over the top you can't help but cackle. Too bad there's none of that here. You'll watch our main character make atrocious decisions, lie to himself, deprive himself of what he really wants and you'll enjoy every minute of it, damn it.

Having watched many romance animes, I feel I can accurately give you a feel for what you should expect from this anime. Kind of "veering of the tracks" of normal reviews, I'm going to kind of explain to you what this anime is about and what you're going to feel while watching this anime.

Well, to start off I really liked this anime. I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but most of the time while watching a 12 episode romance anime I seem to drift off about halfway through and drop that anime. However, I never had that problem with this anime.

When I ... first read the synopsis, I immediately brushed this anime aside. After seeing it mentioned countless times while looking for another romance anime, I decided to give it a try. And I'm glad I did. When you first read the synopsis, or at least when I read it, it gave you an inaccurate feel for this anime. When you first read the synopsis, most of you are going to think, "Oh. Kid finds naked alien. Alien forces him to marry her. Alien gradually develops feelings for Kid, when they finally kiss in the final episode." No, okay? Just no.

Onegai Teacher is a little more mature than some of the romance animes you'll find. Dealing with deep psychological pain as well as the emotional implications of a developing relationship, Onegai Teacher is a must watch for romance lovers all over.

While you can see how much praise I am giving Onegai Teacher, you may have noticed that my overall is a low 8. Considering how I usually rate an anime on how it makes me feel inside after I've finished it, an anime with a happy ending like Onegai Teacher will never get above an 8 with me. Onegai Teacher was very enjoyable and a fun roller coaster ride of happiness and fun, with the occasional sad glimpse into the past. If you're looking for an anime that will make you go, "What is the meaning of life?" after you're done watching it, this might not be for you. However, please, give Onegai Teacher a try.

Onegai Teacher is a very cute anime, with a surprising amount of depth. The premise is lame, but since it's just a set up for an incredibly emotional and heart warming journey, it's easily forgiven. Kei Kunasagi is a boy with a medical condition that causes him to "stand still", i.e. become comatose whenever he feels really depressed. There's an overarching theme of "moving forward" throughout the series which is very well done, and this is something Kei is constantly trying to achieve. Enter Mizuho Kazami, a light hearted, and caring but rather naive alien who just happens to be incredibly hot. She accidentally blows ... her cover as an interplanetary observer with Kei and in the course of trying to keep him silent ends up marrying him. Yes, I know what you're thinking, and no, don't stop reading, because despite how this all sounds, this anime turned out to be one of the best I've seen.

At it's core, Onegai teacher is a character driven narrative, and my goodness did they hit the ball out of the park. The main characters are compelling and relatable, and you can't help but empathize with them and really care what happens next. This is a very rare thing. The supporting cast are not ignored either. They are given their own well developed plots and are fleshed out nicely over the course of the series. You end up rooting for them almost as much as you root for Kei and Mizuho. Overall the stories are simple, but the emotions are layered and complex. The real genius of this anime is the focus on the relationship between Kei and Mizuho. It is simply a joy to watch these two grow as a couple, and as individuals, and for the most part, their relationship feels very very real.

I wanted to give this anime a higher rating, I really did .. but there is the one pesky issue plaguing the series; namely the whole student teacher thing. Now, this will bother some people more than others, and if you can focus on the relationship rather than the setup, then you're really going to enjoy the show. But such a glaringly awkward situation was hard to ignore for me, despite my best efforts, especially since Kei kept referring to Mizuho as "Sensei", even at times when he didn't have to ... and I'd rather not speculate why he might have done that. Also, by the end of the series, it almost seemed like the creators were encouraging these types of relationships. It was implied ... not stated ... but implied that another character was on the verge of entering such a relationship. This was completely unnecessary in my opinion, and took away from what was otherwise a very loveable show.

There is fan service, though not excessive and I thought it was rather tastefully done .. if that makes any sense. The animation is beautiful, the character designs are superb and realistic, and easily differentiable, and I loved the opening and closing songs. Overall, I highly recommend giving this series a chance, at only 12 episodes long, it won't take up much of your time, but I guarantee that you will remember it fondly for a long long while.

This is a VERY fun/interesting series.
Even though people might thinks it weird because its a love story between a student and a teacher. Buts trust me it really is a GREAT series. If you are those who into romance.
