Kimi no Iru Machi

Haruto Kirishima lived a calm life out in the countryside, away from the fast-paced life of the city. Then Yuzuki Eba appeared in his life out of nowhere, having come from Tokyo to briefly live with her family. Their time together left him enamored with the memories of that short period before she just as abruptly disappeared from his life, and left him full of questions.

Kimi no Iru Machi begins some time later, after Haruto moves to Tokyo to live with his sister, in order to pursue a career as a cook. In reality though he wishes to be with Yuzuki. Things don't start good though. When he arrives he is mistaken for a burglar and attacked by his sister's neighbour Mishima Asuka. After the misunderstanding is cleared his feelings begin to waver though. Is Eba, who keeps avoiding him for seemingly no reason, the one for him or is it Asuka?

Eba another one, because you should never give up. Haruto is a lucky guy, maybe not the best character you have ever seen but, as we ... said, love is only understandable by who is in love.

Mixed Feelings

Definity a love/hate mentality with this one. Pretty pretty mixed feelings. Altough i did somewhat like this and could maybe, very unlikely recommend this, this has to be a mixed feelings to not recommend.

First thing off my head is the love triangle or love square that is done ok, meh. I did not like the fact that we as watchers already knew what was going to happen. It's common is these types of romance/ semi harem, but the way the anime spends a lot of time with these other characters is crazy. We spend Alot of time with these characters and to then just ... have a weak ending with each one is weirdly lazy bobo writing. Some don't even get a concrete finish. Fact is, i think one heroine is such a better written character than fmc and mc combined.

Mc is such an alpha lol. Bro is really the anti-villian. The destroyer, the SLAYER, What an disgustingly good character. The rizz/fizz this dude has is limitless thug. BUT he is still an villian lol. Something people are going to be put off by is around episode 6-9, and you will either be with him or go against him. Its like a telltale game, stand with him or against him. Lie to yourself or accept the truth.
And these episodes were really hard lol, even for me. I wanted to just drop it, but curiosity got the better of me. (At this point i was lying to myself, to make myself feel better.)

Fmc is not likable at all, you will hate her, despise her. What a goddam Vermin. A rat, snake. Not your fault, she is just written bad. Exploiting the Mc like a Vampire, Sucking off all his blood and when she has had enough, goes off to such someone else off, literarily.
Her choices are predetermined, like the ending, smh.
She just HAS to do that, and later do that. And we just have to get unnecessary drama
She is also stupid, Baka stupid. Orihime stupid.

They have flaws and are well-rounded, some are triangle formed, some look like a cube. (Some characters are written bad). Some just disappear from the story entirely.
Art is whatever really, dont think you will have a keen eye here, palette is systematic, and is nice.

HOWEVER. Ill have to say this... At least they are realistic. Which is a good ground to get on, after so much romcom/harem bullsh.
They act human, and humans make mistakes. Could not tell you the same about the episodes and storyline.

I personally would not tell a friend to see this one, i wouldnt tell a boyfriend to see this one. But i think some will enjoy this because it is very realistic.
Ending sucked tho. LOL IT SUCKED. I HATE THE ENDING

Holy shit what an absolute piece of crap with no redeeming qualities. This anime answers the question of "what if you take a character driven story and turn it into a plot driven one?"

The biggest issue with the show was the whack-ass pacing - in fact, I suspect that the source material was far superior because I can see the concept of a story. The story hinges on the viewer wanting the two leads to get together, however, the director fails to consider the fundamental issue that the viewer needs to actually care about the leads and throws away the foundational buildup to focus ... on the drama.

In the prologue/background information arc, the show has barely any positive interactions between the two, with what they do show is the ML treating the FL like an inconvenience. The little positive interaction we see between the two comes from the FL trying to set up the ML with his lifelong crush(which ends up being extremely irrelevant to the plot), and it's completely comes out of left field when she decides that no, she actually wants to date him instead of setting him up with his lifelong crush. This is especially infuriating given how slow the pace these episodes are and how barely relevant to the plot that he liked someone else before her is.

It doesn't get any better when we get out of the prologue section, and we are actually in the main story. We start with a romance that has barely been developed, and two characters that have had barely any on (or off) screen development. Thus, we have no context for the drama that immediately happens, and absolutely none of it makes sense. All of the conflict and conflict resolution feels incredibly random and contrived. There is also absolutely no progress made on the romance in this entire arc, in fact, it manages to wipe out any progress by doing a full reset to zero at this point.

There is then a timeskip. And the series manages to go from bad to worse. At this point, the series basically needs to speedrun the entire romance sequence, and does so by promoting a background character to a deus-ex-machina and doing railroaded schemes to get the two together.

I do think that this series got screwed by having 12 episodes, and would have majorly benefited from 12 more, but it could have been a lot better if the director did absolutely anything to salvage the series. It's actually pretty astounding how bad the show is. The art is generic. The music is unremarkable. It doesn't do the characters right. It doesn't do the drama right. It doesn't do the romance right.
