There is more than one similarity within these two series. The biggest one is the life of the two main charachters. In the morning Yoshimori (Kekkaishi) and Rikuo (Nurarihyon no Mago) they going to school having a normal life with their friends, classic Slice of Life anime, but when the Sun goes down they both become a different persons they both chosen ones - so to say, and they are not sure at the beginning are they fit to inherit they grandfathers place! They both protect humans although Rikuo is 1/4 demon! The fighting, comedy and tension is mutual in both anime's. So there is  read more

While Bleach and naruto achieved massive popularity outside Japan, Kekkaishi seems very underrated outside Japan. Consistently in the top 10 in terms of viewership in Japan, kekkaishi shares the same shounen genre as its other more popular counterparts. while it does not boast legions of characters or long names for techniques, it takes the simple and often overlooked technique, the kekkai and expands it, giving it a fresher twist.

Both MC's fight to protect the grounds from demons that appear during the night. Both stories involve 2 Main male characters and 1 female MC, who build stronger relationships as the storyline unfolds. Both series deal with spirits and youkai and the exorcism of them before they in danger the human race. Both series have great balance of Comedy, Action, Adventure, Supernatural, and Fantasy elements.

Both feature adolescent males with a guilt-complex, who are dense, hot-blooded, and intensely protective of a more intelligent girl who feel obligated to share in responsibility of guarding the surrounding area of demonic invaders. Though considering Inuyasha's popularity, Kekkaishi offers a better plot, less repetition, and a more varied cast of re-occuring characters.

The drawing style isnt that different, and it also takes a non-serious approach for the protagonist to accomplish their jobs. In both cases, it also involves non-stop fighting between the lead female and males and also has a no brainer loud mouth as one of the main characters and other crazy, wacky supporting aspects.

both about a male lead who can see youkais and fighting them to help their friends and protecting them! both animes have similar ideas and both of them have interesting stories! IF U LOVED KEKKAISHI YOU WILL LOVE USHIO & TORA FOR SURE

-A character that wants to become stronger to protect others and is comedic (Rin and Yoshimori) paired with a serious, studious character that keeps the other in check (Yukio and Tokine) -Fighting demons or ayakashi -Yoshimori (Kekkaishi) and Rin (Ao no Exorcist) are given a power at first that they deny, and have immense, natural talent -The same sense of adventure and reckless strength

In both of these series we have a special group assembled to fight off creatures that threaten the safety of a designated area. In Mushibugyou, the setting is 17th century Edo (Tokyo) and the creatures are oversize insect creatures, with the group being the Insect Magistrate. The members of this group are mostly fighters of some sort or another, using swords and sometimes onmyouji arts or bombs. In Kekkaishi, the setting is modern Japan (I forget which city/area in particular), and the creatures are ayakashi (demons, youkai, mononoke, etc.) who seek out a certain school campus that was built on sacred land, with the group  read more

Both anime have something to do with supernatural beings, they both eliminate demons and ghost both main characters are incarnation of the greatest evil, well one is, the other is the son of the greatest evil. Their life style is also similar, both act casual in the morning, chat to friends, school work, etc. But when night comes they both become a totally different person

For Kekkaishi and Uchouten Kazoku, both comes with a taste of fantasy. Kekkaishi does present more action but both series gives off that feeling of fantasy background. They also both take place in the modern age as opposed to historical times. The main male protagonist has some family backgrounds along with his ancestors. The series' mystical creatures are present that plays various roles in their perspective stories. Also, expect lighthearted comedy and catchy dialogues.

Both have the MC join in their family / group's tradition of guarding their local spot from foreign invaders and growing over time to better combat them. Siege warfare with Buddhist influences.

Both series have creatures who come from another dimension that terrorizes the human race. Both series have a group of individuals who come to defend the people from these monsters. Both Main characters are very gifted and powerful however they are laid back and lazy, only fighting when it is necessary. Both Narratives have Action, school, supernatrual, comedy, and Fantasy genre components.

Both shows are fighting shounen set in a small living area (konohamaru and karasumori) and involve friendly competition. There's a larger underlying threat that will probably at some point be dealt with but it's more focused on the people living there and comedy than it is on high stake battles. (as of boruto ep 6 and kekkaishi ep 27)

Completely different story lines and genres but, both have to characters from different families that cannot fall in love/be friends because, of a family fued.

+ Fighting with supernatural creatures (in Kekkaishi - demons, in Rakshasa Street - evil spirits). + Young heroes (in Kekkaishi - people from "kekkaishi" line with supernatural abilities, in Rakshasa Street - spirit hosts with ancient companions). + Some special bond between two main leads (in both friendship between a boy and a girl, but they both don't admit it).

Altho its much shorter anime Kyoukai no Kanata has the upper hand in superb animation style and much less eerie atmosphere than Kekkaishi it is also much more moe and comedy focused show but also has that contrast of dark events happening compared to Kekkaishi both MC's are badass in their own way and have somebody who they really care for or somebody who really cares for them! And both anime are about Otherworldly beings, Youkai and Supernatural abilities!

well.....kekkaishi hunts ghost or spirits and if the spirits reach to their school they'll turn into a monster. While TATICS has spirits too..but they call their monsters "oni" it's similar to kekkaishi because they carry staffs and uses magics too!! that's all...

tons of actions scenes, crazy monsters which pop up, and complex political situations. also, love interest between 2 main characters, much more well done in kekkaishi though

Both are magical action where random bad guys/creatures turns up, gets defeated and then moves on. also, both have elements of romance between the 2 main protagonists.

Very similar humour, main character, who cannot concentrate on fight, but who have amazing amount of strength, hand techniques and much more...

The main characters in these two shows are 14 years old and go to middle school. Both main characters want to protect a girl they like and they have supernatural powers.

Both about a kid that inherits his relatives past ghost hunting ability's and powers. Kekkaishi is more so about hunting and exercising demons where as Natsume Yuujinchou is about returning the demon's names and allowing them to pass on.

Both anime are about schoolboys having to deal with supernatural beings. Both are set more or less in our own time, in our own world.

They both involve supernatural beings and the main characther(Allen/Yoshimori) are trying to protect something and getting stronger for a girl. There are some differences, like in d.gray-man they fight akumas and in kekkaishi they exterminate spirits, also d.gray-man has a more complex story and more episodes. Both of the series are from my point of view excelent and are worth watching.

The two main character are heir to a feudal Japan clan, and have a heritage of a special abillity,in Kekkaishi the main is a...Kekkaishi(barrier master),in Recca he is a Enjutsushi(Flame user). And they battle for the fate or honor of clan. The main charcters brothers is first a enemy to them.

Both involve creative superpowers and consequently the best battles ever. Since the nature of the hero's powers in both series basically precludes any chance of just using raw power to win a fight, their winning plans always come out of left field and are always a surprise.
report Recommended by Torisunanohokori
Both series involve kids delving in onmyou arts(eastern magic). Whilst Kekkaishi are more about onmyou-type barriers known as kekkai, Tokyo Ravens focus on shikigamis which are pretty much helpers to onmyoujis(casters). If you're into shonen-type anime(adventure, action) mixed with supernatural elements, make sure to check out both!

Fullmetal Alchemist and Kekkaishi are the same in several ways, the only thing that differs them, are the settings, the looks and the theme. Furthermore than that, there are similar characters, battle's and plots going on.
