Interest StacksFeaturing little to no dialogue and/or characters and the experience is carried by the music and/or visual atmosphere. I remember going to the video store, browsing the shelves, and picking out a movie based on the box art alone. I'd look at the front, I'd look at the back, and more often than not I'd put it back on the shelf. Occasionally there'd be something like Ghost in the Shell or Ninja Scroll, and I knew I just had to rent it, or more accurately get my parents to rent it. Trying to compile a list of all anime and manga that has girls with guns in it A compilation of anime that began airing during the month of May. The OVA market dried up as straight to video releases became a thing of the past, which is unfortunate because a lot of interesting and unique anime were released in this format. The point of the list is to feature worthwhile OVAs that are more than just fanservice or shoddy extras for TV series. Sigh, due to the explicit content warning feature, I've excluded Mezzo Forte, but it would be on here otherwise. I should also probably make room for Yukikaze at some point. Now let me preface, the title is a bit reductionist, we shouldn't feel obligated to label what something is or isn't. Rather, the media below at the very least has an idea in it that is tangential to gender politics, whether simply representation or potentially more triggering such as gender violence. I will put potentially triggering titles last (except Bellandonna). Before the likes of Saint Seiya, Dragon Ball Z and Pokemon conquering the kids in the west, it was actually Akira that opened the door and made people realize that the cartoons coming from Japan weren't what you would expect from Disney or your TV channels. Trying to compile a list of all anime and manga that has girls with guns in it Animes that examines how the humans relates to each other from different points of view. Some are more focused on individuals and some explores bigger groups or societies. A mix of 80's & 90's ova series that I have seen. |
