Both Gundam Origin and LotGH deal with war and politics, and have a really similar vibe. Char and Reinhard are similar characters, as they are both tactical geniuses and have hidden agendas. Furthermore, the space battles in Gundam (episode 5) reminded me a lot of those in LotGH.

Both Thorfinn and Casval serve the murderers of their fathers, making a name for themselves as skilled merciless warriors on the battlefield in the hopes of an opportunity to take revenge upon their own leaders. Thorfinn lived humbly with under a caring father Thors, a Jomsviking war hero. We see his childhood as having fun, enjoying a naïve conception of fighting and war. They are forced to leave their life of peace and this impacts Thorfinn the most. Eventually, he joins Askeladd's band of Vikings to fight the Saxons, yet retaining his vengeful agenda. Casval, on the other hand was the son of a powerful political figure  read more

If you enjoyed Code Geass, and liked the fact that the mc is a op, genius strategist and a skilled mecha pilot then Mobile Suit Gundam Origins has everything you are looking for, many people recommend anything distantly relate able to Code Geass but if there was one anime that was truly similar it would be this one, enjoy.

Space opera and dark fantasy containing a teenager who gets involved in a war as a result of losing a loved one . He eventually developes an interesting talent for war and uses it for its vengeful purposes. It contains political conspiracy, childhood trauma, horrors of war and even some interesting military deployment . You have futuristic guns, spacecraft and mobile suits in Origin, while 3D maneuvers, chivalry and even the titans itself have same purposes in AoT.

Revenge. It drives Casval and Angelo to commit unforgivable acts against those who have killed their families. Ready to adandon all ties to their identities, Casval and Angelo adopt new identities to infiltrate themselves within the inner circle of those who would kill them if they knew their past. Although Casval's revenge is only realized in the sequel, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin is the story that gives meaning to Casval's revenge. Of the two series, 91 Days is definitely the darker tale of revenge and benefits from being a pure drama.

Space Battleship Yamato 2199 is a stunningly beautiful remake of a classic sci-fi anime from the 70s, we see the beloved crew of the Yamato and the dramatic ship-to-ship battles in modern animation. It adds new details too for more world building such as a more expansive history of the characters from the original, new crew members not seen in the original and more alien races in the Iscandar arc than just the Gamilas and others. While the manga of Mobile Suit Gundam The Origin is a remake of a classic sci-fi anime from the 70s, as of now, the OVA adapts the several-volume-spanning flash-back arc  read more

Both of these anime series show how brilliant blonde commanders rose to power, taking place before the military sci-fi epics we're more familiar with. Both Char and Reinhard were separated from their family members early on and care very much for their respective sisters, Sayla and Annerose. For a greater cause in society (the aristocracy, statehood, the environment etc.) and their personal grievances, Char and Reinhard are determined to change their nations from the inside. Although they serve different roles and have different abilities on the grand battlefield of space (Char more of a pilot than a tactician like Reinhard), they have very similar experiences and abilities  read more
