Interest StacksThis is just my own take on the "Anime for Beginners" discourse. These are the shows that I've recommended to people who wanted to get into anime or just think they're "Those weird Asian cartoons", with great results! Explanations/Justifications for each one as well. <3 Even long time fans can use this as a recommendation guide for their watchlist! Morio Asaka is a Japanese storyboard artist and director. Coming of age is loosely defined as a story of teenagers/ children/ youths growing up and discovering what it means to be an adult/ the effects of change. It could also deal with themes of character maturity and are often heavily character driven. This animes have a character's name or nickname in their titles (no movies and no full romance on this list, for that there's another one). I know there are not a lot of animes/mangas with actual 'good' female characters. Even if the MC is a female, she is a damsel in distress and relies on the men around her. If the woman is powerful then she has no personality or there are just lolis everywhere and we are not lolis so we can't relate or they are just there for the male gaze. Animes that explore themes around books, bookworms, literature, classics, authors, bookstores, libraries, mangakas, words in general I tried to put together a list of sports (or sports-style) anime featuring women's and girls' sports that don't lean overly much into fanservice/ecchi stuff. Pickings were . . . Slim. |
