Mini Dragon

If, like me, you adore Kobayashi-san, Tohru and Kanna's misadventures this is a must watch. They're very short stories, most of which are both adorable and funny. Other characters also appear.

Each episode tends to focus on a few set of characters from the show and a particular scenario.

These short stories serve as appetizers to watch while we wait for the sequel and I couldn't be more excited about the upcoming season.

The visuals are the same from the 1st season and that's a positive for me.

It gets a 7/10 from me because they're a bit too short xD

Mini Dragon consists of 13 "episodes" which are basically comedic super shorts lasting on average 90 seconds. Their purpose is solely to remind us that the second season of Dragon Maid is to be aired soon; nothing more, nothing less. There is no story at all to be honest, I don't think Mini Dragon can even be considered slice of life; *subslice* of life maybe?

The 2D art is just as good as the art of the main show, but there are ~15 seconds of rather poor CGI with each intro that forced me to cut 1 point from the art. The music is nice and ... cute, but the characters obviously have no time to show any "flesh". Overall it felt like a super fast (food) version of Dragon Maid, and I don't think that's a show meant to be viewed that way. So it's best to be regarded as a mere appetizer for season 2. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you love Dragon Maid to the point of muttering "Chu Chu Yeah" in your sleep, then these shorts become essential viewing. Each episode contains ninety seconds of cute SOL scenarios that recapture the warm and fuzzy tone of season one. Some of those scenarios include Kanna styling Kobayashi's hair, Fafnir meeting his MMORPG teammates in real life, and Tohru preparing the perfect bento for her loving master.

Do note that Ilulu is not present in these episodes, as it was released prior to season two and intended to be promotional material. This is perhaps disappointing to those who have grown enamored with the bite sized ... (in all places but one) Dragon, but do be assured she will appear in later bonus content material as a permanent member of the Kobayashi family.
