Eizouken ni wa Te wo Dasu na!
add

Both Windy Tales and Eikouzen take advantage of a unique aesthetic, and in some ways the feeling of the two shows are very similar, though who knows if Windy Tales served as inspiration or not. Eikouzen in particular seems to have some kind of fondness or nostalgia for the sentimentality and atmosphere of certain anime in the mid-2000s and Windy Tales is situated firmly in that time period. Anyone who is enjoying Eikouzen will probably find Windy Tales also enjoyable for its aesthetic.

Techno Police 21C
add

Both are relatively short 80s productions featuring run-away robot tanks. Fans of the concept might get a kick out of how differently these two end up being, just based on the budget, designs and animation.

...then you might like
Penguin Highway
add

Both anime are coming of age tales in which an older mysterious women is the impetus for a journey of discovery as well as the limits of maturity. Penguin Highway is more whimsical and while not necessarily a family film is packaged like one.

Tsuujou Kougeki ga Zentai Kougeki de Ni-kai Kougeki no Okaasan wa Suki desu ka?
add

Both anime feature ridiculous scenarios as an excuse for a family (mother and child in the case of Okaasan) to become closer. Fans of the Okaasan Online might appreciate the more frenetic, and cynical, approach that Bouei Kazoku takes. And both are parodic.

If you liked
Hitohira
add
...then you might like
Hinako Note
add

Both anime feature quiet main characters, who have almost no self-confidence, learn to open up through friendship and theater. Fans of Hinako Note might enjoy a similar story with a more dramatic bent, which Hitohira provides.

If you liked
Koutetsushin Jeeg

...then you might like
SSSS.Gridman
add

Two modern 'sequels' that aren't supposed to be sequels of older franchises. Anyone who enjoys the foggy, dreamlike atmosphere of Gridman might find something similar in Jeeg, where the fog is a little thicker. Expect kaiju fights and oldschool hotblooded action.

If you liked
The Third: Aoi Hitomi no Shoujo
add
...then you might like
Eden's Bowy
add

Eden's Boy and The Third both tell sci-fi adventure stories from multiple perspectives, involve powerful organizations and have comedy and drama interwoven into the narrative. Also, both are unconventional in their own way. A fan of The Third would appreciate the similarities between the two, but also might enjoy the more haphazard nature of Eden's Boy.

If you liked
Joshikousei: Girl's High
add
...then you might like
Hyakko
add

Both anime are ostensibly early 'cute girl' school comedies but most of the humor revolves around the girls not acting very cute (but of course they still are). Joshikousei uses more crude, sexual humor and gags, but fans of one will certainly enjoy the other as they stand apart from the kinds of anime in the 'cute girl' 'genre' that came out after K-ON.

Senki Zesshou Symphogear

...then you might like
Venus Project: Climax
add

I can say with conviction that any fan of Symphogear would get at least some enjoyment from Venus Project, as rough and short as it is. From the power and passion of song, comes pseudo-mechanical combat. There is a similarity in aesthetic and feeling as well.

Musekinin Kanchou Tylor
add
...then you might like
Tenchi Muyou! GXP
add

Comedic space-operas in which the main character's unluckiness/idiocy are their main tool in fighting against threats. A fan of one would be able to enjoy the other very easily due to the almost mystical and fateful nature of the MC's 'negative' leadership qualities.

If you liked
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
add
...then you might like
Endro~!
add

The cast is in a (unbeknownst to them) teacher/student relationship with their 'adversaries.' The setup is similar enough that sometimes some of the same humor comes through, although fans of Milky Holmes might not think Endro has the same off-kilter sense about itself. Fans of one will most likely enjoy the other.

Akanesasu Shoujo
add

Anyone interested in parallel world hijinks will like both of these shows. Both deal with hopping from one reality to the next, in an attempt to forget something traumatic. Both are about growing up and dealing with loss, but there are obviously some slight differences in how these things are resolved, and how they unfold. Abenobashi is more comedic.

Both anime feature all-girl military/mecha squads who have to stop meteors from falling to Earth. Anyone who likes the concept will get something out of either of these.

If you liked

Macross 7
add

The power of music (rock) to fight against an alien threat. Anyone who enjoyed the over the top, yet still engaging, story of Macross 7, should enjoy Kachou Ouji as it is like a subdued/domestic companion to it.

If you liked
Animation Seisaku Shinkou Kuromi-chan
add
...then you might like
Shirobako
add

Both anime are about making anime at a fictional studio, told through the perspective of a female production assistant. Animation Runner is way more lighthearted and eccentric than Shirobako is, however both anime deal with a lot of the same problems and scenes (encouraging lazy animators at their homes, production issues, etc.). A fan of one will undoubtedly be a fan of the other, even if it is just because of the similar subject matter and setting. Animation Runner is older, and perhaps it is possible that it inspired Shirobako in some way.

Hisone to Maso-tan
add

Both are stories about the JSDF. Both anime try to be about interpersonal (and personal) struggles within a military setting. Rescue Wings is the better show undoubtedly, but both provide a unique experience. Anyone who liked HisoMaso will probably like Rescue Wings because of the similar setting and focus on characters.

Both will satisfy anyone's taste for meta-jokes. The power of otaku's love of anime can do incredible things, and for those who actually have a unironic love of anime may find common ground with these characters (and the creators).

GS Mikami
add

Yuugen Kaisha is so similar thematically to GS Mikami that some might question the former's originality. Both feature beautiful red-headed women exorcising spirits for their for-profit companies. Mikami is more successful in this regard, as she is wealthy, whereas Kisaragi's company seems to always be in debt. Yuugen Kaisha has a somewhat more serious tone, but both are comedies.

Both have a 'community vs. the enemy' feel to them. Though Fafner is definitely more developed in that regard in that almost everyone on the island is involved. Though in Zegapain the community is literally the last hope.
