Happy late New Years!

I've been great, thanks for asking. How about yourself?
I've read quite a lot this year, mostly books rather than any comics/manga. I'm really excited for 26 January, as that's when The Lunary Trilogy by Jerzy Żuławski is being published for the first time in English!
How about yourself? Any interesting readings you want to share, or upcoming publications?
I've been doing a lot of film catch up over the last few days. Missed a lot from 2020. I just posted a review for Last and First Men, tell me what you think: https://letterboxd.com/amelia_cho/film/last-and-first-men/

Merry Christmas! :)

I got to respond to your reply one of these days! Been pretty preoccupied this year though! Lmao.

Never played Red Dead Redemption, but the outdated shooting mechanics and clunky controls at times, leaves a lot to be desired. When I give it another go, we'll see if I get more into it.

Yeah. I heard Stardew Valley is great.

The Shining (1980) is way better. Stephen King famously hated it. There's a famous story, during the production of it, that Stanley Kubrick called Stephen King late one night asking if he believes in God, and King answered in the affirmative, and asked it back at him. Kubrick said "No, I don't think there is a God." Before hanging up. Take this with a grain of salt, as King has recalled this story over the years, with different responses on Kubrick's end, but it's an interesting story nonetheless.

I've studied and have read extensively on other topics like linguistic theory, religion, logic, history, etc. I take interest in a lot of subjects, then I pursue it with a passion. I just don't claim expertise in most of these, unlike neuroscience. What made you assume I studied literature?

That's fair. I'm almost 28, so not sure how I would have reacted if I were younger and not as deep in my studies. I'll always love the sciences as I said, and I might pursue a career at a later point, but as of right now, I have different goals in mind. To better discover myself, and what I truly want out of life.

That is pretty absurd. I agree. XD

Since the lockdown, I've also been online more which has had mixed results. Lots of headache-inducing arguments, where it devolves into me pointing out fallacious reasoning, and conduct. There has been some pleasant discussions thrown about throughout though.

I adored Doom Eternal, although it took me ages, because I'm not very good at FPS games, so I kept dying. I had SO much fun though, and felt like I got better with each death. I love Death Stranding. Wasn't a big fan of Red Dead Redemption II, didn't get vey far into it. I don't dislike it, or think it's bad. It just hasn't clicked with me (yet). Maybe if I play it longer and further into it, I'll get more into it. I don't know. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is AMAZING. I need to get more Switch games. Don't got a huge library right now. I'm broke right now though. This gaming hobby is expensive, more so than when I went to buy books, or go to film festivals. :/

Hope you're enjoying Stardew Valley. I've not played, but I've heard it's amazing!

That's fair, and The Dark Tower is hands down my favourite work by him. I think it's a masterpiece of meta-fictional narrative writing. One of my favourite fantasy series of all time. Even when I think something Stephen King has written is below standard, he's just a very skilled writer, that I enjoy reading those trashier publications all the same. How about yourself? Out of the ones you've read?

Neuroscience, already got my Masters, and have been enrolled in a Ph.D. program. I should be getting my doctorate by the time I'm 29. Devoted the majority of my adult life to studying it. Though, I'm no longer sure I wish to pursue a career in academia. I'll finish my studies, as I'll always love the sciences and I've come so far, but I've been shifting my interest on what I want to do in life for awhile now since I had kind of a crisis of identity. Realizing all I've done is study most of my life, and that I've missed out on experiencing life as much as I could. There's also the anxiety of wanting to start a family, before 35, which is the age where my options start running out. And pursuing a career in the sciences, is incredibly unfriendly for women who want to start families. But I won't get into all that, as I could go on and that'd be boring to learn about me. It'll be cool to put "scientist" on my resume though (joking XD).

You can't escape mathematics though, when you're studying in the sciences. No matter what field it is.

True. I started cooking a lot more, which I haven't had time for prior to the lockdown.

Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age - Definitive Edition, Persona 5 and Everybody's Golf are the 3 I'm playing right now. The last 3 games I finished were Devil May Cry 5, Doom Eternal and Final Fantasy VII Remake.

Stephen King is good. I've read all of his books up to the most recent one. I like Faulkner. It's good to explore.

Maths is fun, and it's unavoidable for me. Online classes and Skype calls to continue my studies are mandatory. So mathematical modeling and all of that is still part of my daily routine, it seems.

No worries, and I haven't been reading much of anything, just occasionally keeping up with stuff I already have been reading.

I recently picked up a new hobby, being gaming. How about yourself?

Frozenstein Jan 13, 2018 6:57 PM
That's fantastic!

I used to use Goodreads, not anymore. I wouldn't even be able to remember my username or password if I tried.

Horror manga? Anything by Junji Ito, Higanjima, Parasyte, Homunculus, Tokyo Ghoul along with Berserk, Blame! and Dorohedoro have horror elements. Alive is horror, so is I Am a Hero. The Skyhigh series. All I got off the top of my head.

It's not that late to me. Late implies there was a set date for when you should reply back. Slow reply is more like it, such as my reply now.

I'm great, thanks for asking. How about yourself? :)
