Digimon Tamers

Devil Survivor 2 The Animation

Believe it or not, Devil Survivor 2 and Digimon Tamers are probably the closest anime in terms of similar themes you'll find.

In both of the shows, creatures are appearing out of no where in Japan and causing havoc. In DS2, the ones who take care of these are the summoners, while in DT they are the tamers. In DS2 they use a variation of demons from folklore, stories and the such, while in Digimon Tamer it gets to the point where the enemies are based on folklore and legends as well. In DS2, you can almost consider the demons to be 'digital' as well as how they were effected by a virus in the system where in DT, it also occurs in and digimon is short for digitial monsters. There are plenty more similarities.

The main difference between the two is the target audience. DT is aimed towards the younger and children while DS2 is more along the lines of teenagers.

If you liked
Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu
...then you might like
Sasami-san@Ganbaranai

Both female characters pretty much have the ability of gods to manipulate the world to their liking and even unwilling-fully. However, in Sasami-san case, she is aware of her ability while Haruhi is not of hers.

Also, both have the Hare Hare Yukai dance. :)

If you liked
Joshi Kousei
...then you might like
Seitokai Yakuindomo

You could say Joshi Kousei is what Seitokai Yakuindomo was before the school became gender co-ed.

Both containing plenty of crude and sexual jokes/humor/etc.

If you liked
Druaga no Tou: The Aegis of Uruk
...then you might like
Sword Art Online

The original base goal of the anime are both the same, to reach the top of the tower. However, SAO setting is a fantasy based virtual game, while Druaga is a fantasy setting based on a game.

Though it may be spoiler-ish, the second half of SAO and the second season of Druaga are also the same, to find/save someone.

There are also minor scenes that may remind you of the other anime like the boss being CG'd or even the tentacle scenes... lol...

If you liked
Kyoukaisenjou no Horizon
...then you might like
Sword Art Online

Both series are based off of light novels. Though the main similarities is how they were adapted into their anime. Both barely bother to explain to you the minor details and you'll find yourself confused throughout both series unless you have prior knowledge of them from the light novels or any other source, although SAO does explain 'some' of its terminology. But regardless of understanding, both series are still enjoyable even with the lack of understanding. The overall genre of the two are fairly the same as well, as in action, adventure, fantasy, romance.

If you liked
Yakuza Girl
...then you might like
Itokoi Chidori

Both female mains are somewhat serious but have thier 'cute' moments.
Both female mains are required to protect a certain someone, that someone being the person they love.
Both manga are fairly short and a quick read.

While Itokoi Chidori is more heavy in the sex scenes, Yakuza Girl is more heavy in gore and violence. Both are plenty heavy in ecchi/nudity.
