Good review for Higurashi 2020. I'm surprised the top reviews along with yours are those with only 4-6 episodes seen, that's complete bullshit. They barely touched the show.

Greatest tea party EVER, it was a chilling demonstration of how greed consumes man and the lengths they go to reach their self-serving goals, it teaches us that even people who are committed to the truth so much so that they build entire identities around, ultimately reject it if it doesn't fit their narrative, in that sense, humans are truly flawed and tragic creatures. Bern's red truth and Ange's reaction shook me to my core. The execution, the music, the way some scenes were described were all more than I could ask for, the fight at the end is just a nice bonus. In short, It's a masterpiece and I'm in awe. Episode 7 is really my favorite episode as of now.

I'm thinking Satoko might be Lambda, but who knows at this point what might happen.

Definitely, there are far too many misconceptions circulating about what the anime should've been and its narrative delivery not being too "new-friendly". You just can't truly appreciate Gou if you haven't seen its predecessors because that's where they delve deep into the mystery and give you time to come up with your own conclusions.

I was super excited when I saw episode 17, It has to be my favorite episode, but I won't spoil. Nekodamashi as a whole has been a great treat for all Higurashi fans who have been craving for more story.

I've been reading Umineko for the past 3 months, enjoying the VN and reading the manga at my own pace, digesting all that is being shown and mulling things over. I had Umineko in my backlog for a while, but higurashi coming back and hearing that it might connect with Umineko was too good an opportunity to pass up. I finished episode 7 a couple of days ago and I should get back to episode 8 very soon. Yep, the soundtracks are orgasmic, I love listening to them while doing other things.

I read your higurashi review and I really enjoyed it because it summed up my thoughts of the anime and what newcomers should be aware of when they approaching the series. It gets undue hate from people who are treating it as a reboot and they end up getting spoiled and confused and as a result they become disappointed. I'm personally loving it right now, especially these past few episodes because we're finally getting some fresh new material. I can't wait to see where the plot heads. Loved your umineko references too. Always a pleasure to come across another umineko fan. Anyway, I just thought I'd come and say hi.

Thank you for your review of the new Higurashi and giving the show some justice. However I do HIGHLY suggest adding a spoiler tag at the top before a mod edits it in after someone else reports it. I'll take your advice and try checking out the Umineko VN once I get it. Although I'm just starting to watch the series and eventually buying the VN when I have time after hearing about the new season, I do not see what is so bad about it by keeping an open mindset like you said. In fact, it's more SATISFYING to compare the differences that set it apart from just being a remake. The confusion from that hurting everyone's views isn't justified and I hope these next GOU episodes clear it up more! ^ .^
