Let's get one thing straight, I am a huge fan of the game this manga is based on, so I went into this manga with high expectations. After finishing it I have a couple things I want to say about it.
Story: (6/10) (When compared to the game)
This rating is not reflective of the material it's based on, the game is amazingly written and I think that it's one of the (if not THE) strongest story in the series. Even though I played this game about 6 or 7 years ago, it's still my all time favorite Kingdom Hearts game. This manga had a couple bumps
...
when it came to it's story telling however, there are comedic beats that feel a little out of place that I don't remember being in the game (although since this was probably marketed towards a younger audience, I can understand why) and a lot of the way that things are paced out are much too fast. I spent the entire manga preparing myself for the final fight at the end, and they ended the final fight with a SINGLE panel. Considering how long the fight is in the game it's just.. well it's a bit disappointing is all I guess qmq. My favorite section of the game to play, the one right after the final boss fight, was also incredibly (and sadly) very quick. I can kind of understand this, but I guess it does make me sad that I didn't get to re-experience those fights again. But, again these thoughts are all based on me having played the game it comes from.
Overall.. I'd say that there are a couple oddities here and there for the story due to it's strange comedic beats and pacing that is much to quick for anybody who loves a good keyblade fight. I would never recommend reading the manga over playing the game through an emulator (and we aren't even gonna talk about how they SLAYED the poor game in that ps4 or ps3 collection where they REMOVED ALL GAMEPLAY) of some kind.
Art (8/10) I was put off a bit at first by how the art was portrayed, since it had a more cute-like quality that I don't feel like the game had, but it kind of grew on me! The art was actually very nice for this manga! There were plenty of moments where a character made a comically out of character face (at least based on what I remember) but in the end I think the take-away is that it looks pretty nice. Some characters (like Xion) ended up having a lot more personality then the game they came from because of how expressive faces were!! That's a big plus in my book.
Character: (9/10) I was originally gonna give a 10/10 for characters since I think they actually did a very good job recreating the seasalt trios tale, but I gotta take it down just one notch because it felt like the rest of the organization got left behind as jokes, which is a little sad, but hey sometimes things gotta change to meet criteria and I can understand that!
Enjoyment: (8/10) It's my favorite kingdom hearts game, what can I say?
Overall: 9/10
TLDR; it's not a bad manga, but it is by no means a replacement for the actual game. I really do beg that you play the game before you read this manga, it's a fun treat once you've played the game, but it's not a replacement.

As somebody who absolutely loves Paru Itagaki and everything she writes, I was overall pretty stoked about this manga! I think that Itagaki had some interesting things she wanted to say with this manga, so let's get into it.
Story: 8/10
Sadly, this story was not as strong as Itagaki's other mangas, but I loved how bizarre and surreal it was. I think Paru's goal with this story was to show that not everything in relationships is all black and white. Some people need different things, and overall that's what makes relationships and love beautiful. I think this message got bogged down a bit with Paru attempting
...
to explain the MC's condition and how it worked, and I think this story may have been written on the fly. Regardless, for something as short as it is, BotaBota is a ride and is worth reading.
Art: 10/10
What can I say, I'm a bit bias. I love Itagaki's art style and I love how she draws people. You can tell she's a bit out of her comfort zone considering she had been writing Beastars for years before she wrote this. Paru tends to go for very stylized illustrations, and overall I think her art style is put to work well here. As always, the paneling and how everything flows together is spectacular. (This is one of Itagaki's strengths for sure.)
Character 8/10
This story follows a woman who has a condition that causes her nose to bleed life-threatening amounts when she touches something dirty. Itagaki goes into how this has affected her life and her mental state. I think she does this fairly well, although she's done psychological stories a lot better in the past. Not bad for sure, but it could've been done even stronger. I am not going to be too critical about this since this was a very short manga that didn't appear to be Itagaki's main focus at the time.
Enjoyment: 10/10
What can I say, it was a fun read!
Overall: 9/10 I think this story was fun and surreal, but a bit bogged down by blurry messaging. I can tell what Itagaki was going for, but it didn't tie up right in the end. Overall not a bad story and worth your time In my opinion. :)

I've consumed a lot of horror media in my life, and there are a lot of ways to tell a story meant to shock or frighten, however with all horror comes a single element that must be done right: surprise. With this story, it's moments that deviated from common horror tropes where the parts that shined the strongest, but sadly they feel far and in-between. Moments that start out as gruesome get used over and over again and lose their cringe factor, and it felt like nothing unique was done with the premise. Of course, there are moments that I did enjoy in this story.
...
Endings for the main story and some of the other bonus stories included were fairly decent, and my fear of a generic ending were put to rest. I don't think this is a great manga, but I think it's author has the protentional to make something great. The art was pretty decent, and the moments that pushed away from horror tropes were pretty good, I think the author could make something fairly great if they put their creativity to it's fullest protentional.
