Ibitsu (Manga) add (All reviews)

I've consumed a lot of horror media in my life, and there are a lot of ways to tell a story meant to shock or frighten, however with all horror comes a single element that must be done right: surprise. With this story, it's moments that deviated from common horror tropes where the parts that shined the strongest, but sadly they feel far and in-between. Moments that start out as gruesome get used over and over again and lose their cringe factor, and it felt like nothing unique was done with the premise. Of course, there are moments that I did enjoy in this story. Endings for the main story and some of the other bonus stories included were fairly decent, and my fear of a generic ending were put to rest. I don't think this is a great manga, but I think it's author has the protentional to make something great. The art was pretty decent, and the moments that pushed away from horror tropes were pretty good, I think the author could make something fairly great if they put their creativity to it's fullest protentional.
