Nozoki Ana reminds me a lot of that ol' movie Sex, Lies, and Videotape.

You mentioned you enjoyed Aria. Another anime I can recommend is Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou. It’s not very long and it’s somewhat of a teaser for the manga. After watching it I was compelled to read the Manga, which was a first for me. You can read the Manga first if you are so inclined

Krimson,

Like so many other anime, I still haven't watched the adaptation of Elfen Lied. One of my favorite scenes in the manga is when she says something like "Oh no! I'm going to turn stupid!" The series is both touching and dehumanizing. At many points, we start wondering who the monsters really are--that maybe it is the humans who are the most terrible creatures on the planet. >,<

I think I downloaded a couple of Mint installers, the 32-bit and 64-bit editions of the same rolling release, on my mother's netbook late last year, but I forgot about them. I could/should have burnt those to discs before my new hard drive's demise. I was also planning on trying was Lubuntu. Oh, well. Plans have to be reassessed after unforeseen events transpire. ^,^'

Was actually rather resistant to Windows 95 near the end of the DOS era. I was in college and I saw the GUI as a coding motivation sapper and in a way I was right. My more creative block and sister block mates had stopped creating non-mandatory programs and were instead busy getting fascinated by the point-and-click drag-and-drop system. It was kind of heartbreaking. Out of necessity, I had to work with win98 and became less resistant with the advent of winXP (which was Microsoft's best if you think about it). Vista was a turtle. Win7 is an improvement, but still having that "Would you like fries with that, sir/ma'am?" with every order counterpart can be quite annoying. ~,~'

Xubuntu 12.04 LTS desktop only has 3-year support so I was contemplating switching back to Ubuntu since the desktop edition also now has 5-year support like the server edition.

True, I can add various desktop environments, but that would then defeat the "disk space frugality" of either lubuntu or xubuntu. Hohohoho! ^o^

I did read in a few forums that some ?ubuntu long time followers jumping to Mint due to their not liking Unity.

It's only a little over a month since I bought my new machine and the hard drive is already on the verge of crashing! It was making disturbing puttering sounds last night and during my most recent attempt to boot, it got stuck after the password verification screen. I don't know if I can backup my data, but that would involve buying another hard drive which would mean getting another loan from Mom. Sigh. ~,~'

Meanwhile, I have installed Xubuntu 12.04 64-bit regular edition on my old external 30 gig. Now I know that a fresh install takes 10 gig (in contrast to the 6 gig that Xubuntu 10.04 64-bit alt occupied). I'm having

Despite the good news that I'm already recovering from my almost month-long illness, I'm likely not going to be visiting MAL regularly for a while. No manga and anime implies no updates for my lists. I should be taking time to tidy the house (not just my room) anyway. Hopefully, this depressing restriction will also push my website project ahead.

Krimson,

Aren't both Ibitsu manga on the scary side? I tend to shy away from those because I sometimes read manga in the dark. Hahahaha! >,<

I don't know why I was apprehensive about upgrading to Xubuntu 12.04 early this year due to its having Unity (err, correct me if I'm wrong there because if I am then my entire assertion falls apart), but the GUI doesn't feel that much different from Xubuntu 10.04. There's a slight disorientation for a few days since the bottom panel has been replaced by a Mac OS like thingy and the usual widgets have been relocated to the top panel.

Krimson,

Thanks for the news! I have mixed feelings about that. For example, Nana to Kaoru got an adaptation, but have been stuck at just one episode. Also, I hope Nozoki Ana doesn't deteriorate into a hentai as it does have enough nudity and "action". >,<

Have you heard of the manga Velvet Kiss? As with the movie Rounders (starring Matt Damon) and Ultimate Gambler Kaiji, the common lesson learned is to never vouch for a friend's loan. Hahahaha! ^o^

Krimson,

Sundome is interesting in that on the surface it looks like just another gag manga with a liberal dose of fan service, but the it's actually deep and insightful.

I'll choose sad logical endings over forced happy endings any time. I'm kinda annoyed how Disney productions mutilated some of the classics, but are hypocritically very mindful of their own copyrights.

Krimson,

It's been a while so I might be repeating myself. ~,~' With regards to Nozoki Ana, I am reading it on a volume-per-volume basis so you will always be ahead of me. Haha! Some related manga that comes to mind are Sundome and Onani Master Kurosawa. For easy inspirational reading there's the ongoing Piano no Mori and the already done Nodame Cantabile. If you like cats, there's Nineteen, Twenty-One.

Chobits was one of the first manga I ever completed (in the early 2000s or late '90s). A few months later, it also became one of the first tv series I finished (along with Hellsing) when my sibling borrowed the sets of VCDs from a dormmate. (I almost typed doormouse.) I think I also completed the manga of Ranma 1/2 and Love Hina within the same year or two.

To expand my horizons, I will be trying to read most (if not all) of the manga that my MAL friends have already completed. This is a long term project and it would help a lot if my website pet project becomes even slightly functional. MAL just doesn't have the features that I imagine could organize my plans and track certain details (like skips, for example).

My desktop computer stopped functioning two days after our household lost internet access around the beginning of last month. Our WIFI antenna had broken, but service technicians could not visit to fix it for weeks because our country was afflicted by several storms in succession.

Some days ago, I decided to get a loan from Mom and bought a new mobo, cpu, and memory. Had already been saving for a new hard drive and had just been waiting for prices to drop a bit more, but I had to buy that plus casing when I did. Newer machines don't support IDE anymore so I wouldn't have been able to use my older hard drive.

It's only today that I traced which e-mail account I had used for this site. Personal replies will be forthcoming in the coming days ... I hope. ^,^'
