This reply took this long because I actually wanted to finish Island anime before replying, but have yet to do such a thing.
Also I don't recall most details from the VN, so some stuff you are saying, yeah... I read this long ago too, so reading again, but recall even less now.
I mean, it was a cute scene, the marriage at the end of Rinne Midsummer, but this is after Winter, you have enough to puzzle together she is his daughter, so YEAH...
"I mean Setsuna is still stuck in his loop. Even in the true route he still lost his memories again. This will eventually lead to the same result. The Never Island will turn into ruins, Karin will die and Setsuna will want to go back from the start of Never Island to kill himself to save the girl and the island."
WAIT wait, I thought with the true ending of the VN he was able to get out of the loop! Are you sure?
I mean, the whole thing of him accepting this older Rinné and wanting to help her, I tended to believe the loop would end with that.
"Setsuna only made the connection to his own origin. The Setsuna that was the spy of Avalon, the one working in secret with the church and the older brother of Rinnè Ohara was him"
Nah, I don't believe that is right at all, there are different Setsunas, that was always clear to me.
You do realize you are saying Setsuna is the older brother of Rinnè right?
I might read what you said again if I remember after I finish Island anime, cuz right now, really not in the loop of things, but still wanted to reply.
yee im planning to finish the plat im just too close at this point and i have a vacation now
i don`t care for regular Peachy too much, but CPU Peachy is badass, has the best theme in the series i`ve heard yet, and although im usually not a fan of huge juggs at all her tits are amazing :P, and well i like overpowered girl, so many things about her i like, saved the game for me
hope i`ll even see anything else than God Eater-chan once i see her XD
well i mean i did like the part with using chips on orphaned children to make CPUs with the risk of them turning into ugly monster fish, its pretty fucked up, and i liked the whole thing with Peachy, but other than that its just boring XD
yeah i figured VII would be good, hell i`ve been waiting to play it ever since i started the series just to play the God Eater girl XP, its just i gotta actually plat Victory first to get there... well i guess there isn`t too much left, on final new game+ route to True Ending i`ve done the other two, in chapter 6-8 -ish
"That is what Momoka thinks to happen. She misses but clearly information from Sarah Garlando and Rinné O`hara. Rinné O`hara in the time of Island found out that a chronoquake is about to happen between Island and Never Island.
From Sarah Garlando we know that a chronoquake will put the entire earth back into the past while resetting everything and every person. The reason is that the temperature comes extremely close to 0 Kelvin, which would destroy all elements existing. From the quantum mechanic, a point where every elementary particle stops moving is only theoretically possible, because the interaction with each other keeps them in their place.
It will lead to an opposite reaction of oscillation (from the theory of Rinné O´hara, it will exceed the speed of light) which leads the time of the earth going backward.
Rinné changed the protection of the Cold Sleep Chamber to have an anti-oscillation that would cancel them out with perfect interference. That protects Setsuna from the effects of the time reset."
Wait, is this really what happened then? None of the explanations or posts I consulted talked about it, and what you said would make more sense than a new cycle where everyone is reborn but somehow Setsuna keeps flowing against. The problem I mostly had with Island is how much it hides the truth of what is happening, felt it was a bit vague, a great example would be what really happened on that other Island, in Rinne summer route, in the end, nothing of that sort did happen, but the writer wanted you to go back and forth, and while I was riding the wave and thinking this shit is getting GOOD, end result is I was left confused afterward, and without energy to try to piece everything together, and a good part of the VN was me feeling like this, and I ended up pissed off, halfway Midsummer, taking a break of more than a year from the VN.
Thankfully I came back and put the effort to re-read stuff in the VN and do some googling, which ends with me really enjoying the Rinné ending, way more than that happy BS of Rinne x Setsuna, because he was marrying and having a family with his real daughter!!
The only opinions I saw from true end vs Rinne midsummer end was that the true ending was disappointing and lacking a good conclusion, so I was very surprised to finish it, call that 100% bullshit.
I know a bit about the subject of when approaching the absolute zero, my degree covers subjects that touch on that, or at least, give you some hints that had me eventually search a bit, and then reach my own conclusion.
Again, recall reading the word chronoquake from the VN, but you are the first I saw exploring that line of thought, but it seems very valid.
Wait, can we pinpoint Setsuna's origins, why do you say 17y old from Never Island?
I would rather think he came from the past, and regardless of where he starts, how does the loop start is still a mystery to me, a plothole.
If he comes from Summer, he needs to meet Rinné for the events of Summer happening, so he would have never traveled through time via cold sleep, to save a Rinne that never died because she never existed.
And if he starts on NI, what was his motivation, the someone he wanted to save from the beginning of NI, and more so, he has a lot more knowledge about tech from the summer era, than Rinné ever had, thus that has me concluding he could only have been born there.
Your theory does make a lot of sense, feels more credible and infinite reincarnation with similar status quo 20 000 years appart.
I mean, Rinné built it after she sends Sestuna to Summer, that was at least my understanding from the VN, I m only at ep2 of the anime.
"but with the exception that in the turning point from Island to Never Island there is an chronoquake, that resets the time to the one from Never Island."
I think there was something like that, but it resets time?
I do not understand what you are saying, in my head, the cycle keeps continuing, everything is reincarnating, except Setsuna, time for him supposedly keeps moving forward, while he is outside the cold sleep machine, this was what I understood from the VN, but it is a bit conflicting because sooner or later he would have aged quite a lot... I just acknowledged it as a plot hole, since the story as a time travel story is far from perfect, but IMO deserves its own spot due to the originality and the twist with Rinné and Rinne.
Well, I m still seeing the anime myself, I started to play the VN when it was released, but only recently finished, and I had to re-read a lot and watch people explaining on the web to get the full picture well enough, but I heard that the anime did a decent job of conveying the general picture, but I guess it was still hard to understand for a good chunk of the viewers.
My biggest problem with 2nd game is the stark contrast between the first and second game. I mean you have a very comedy-driven plot in the first game with a bunch of weirdos there. Then all of a sudden they not just ignore the whole first game but in the beginning of second game the tone of the storytelling is become rather serious and somewhat dark. I can accept that... what I can't accept is those goddamn cipher events... there are way too many in the mk2 or the way too many endings with those ridiculous requirements. From my point of view it is a mess not because it's a bad story but rather a not-too-well-made game. My feelings are quite similar about VIIR. The story is really good but as a game... well, I think the best word what I feel is frustration.
Neptune is an interesting character. In VII she admitted that she had been not honest like Nepgear. I think that carefree attitude of her is somewhat fake. Just think about it... the traits in their goddess form is an amplified version of human version. Purple Heart is everything but not Neptune. It's rather strange... for example Plutie is a latent sadist in her human form but Neptune... she is like a completely different person. You can find evidence like when Nepgear couldn't do that thing in the Heart Dimension (because she is too honest and kindhearted) but her sister can do it for sure.
Uzume is on par with Nepgear... she is a "hopeless" dreamer with a big heart. Her antics are also quite entertaining.
Well, I think Histoire is also capable of altering the reality with the help of the four goddess. In that sense she is also a goddess? XD
To be honest I didn't like her at all in the 2nd game (by the way that game was a mess). As stated (by her) she was too normal and boring. I kinda like the fact that atoning for this is became part of her character. In the subsequent games she started to feel more like a Neptunia protag. At core she is the same but they made her less serious and more geeky. My favorite from Neptunia is still Neptune (both version of her) but then my second choice would be Nepgear and third would be Noire. I also think Uzume is a great addition to the cast and I hope she will appear in the future games too as a protag.
I played a little more with VIIR and it still feels like an inferior version of VII. It's a shame...
