CMB17, I felt that I needed to express to you the depth of my gratitude for mentioning Translucent in the Seinen and Josei club's manga relations thread. I am absolutely certain I would not have come across it otherwise. I read the first volume and love it to no end. That scene where Shiroyama asks Tadami to touch her says so much in so short of a time. If it keeps up, it would easily be the best school slice-of-life I have read. Not a mean feat, seeing that my current favorite is The Hating Girl. Not nearly as serious, but is somehow touching despite all the weirdness and idiocy. :)

yea thats true about ranma 1/2 - in the beginning there's a plot but then it turns very episodic for a long time. i noticed though that near the end the story seems to turn back into a plot thats more action packed. i havent read the end, but thats just what ive noticed by looking at it. i think in the future i'll pick up ranma again because i do really like it and the manga difference a lot from the show

my very first manga was ranma 1/2. a friend in high school was reading it and decided to try it. i loved it so much that i went to my local comic book store and bought vol. 2. i still to this day love ranma, but i stopped collecting it cause there's just too many volumes

that is true - dubbing has gotten better. still, i find some of the high pitched voices in dubbed really annoying and hard to listen to. i dunno, for me it's easier to listen to high pitched voices in subbed rather than dubbed ^_^
and wow - speed racer was your first ?! thats crazy. i remember watching speed racer on CN and at first not knowing it was anime, lol

oh ok - i started watching anime in the late 90's but only dubbed and stuff that come on TV. mostly sailor moon, dbz, etc. then a friend in school gave me fushigi yuugi subbed and when i watched it i fell in love with it and wanted to watch more subbed.
back then, VHS fansubs were really popular and that's what pretty much got me into being an otaku. but it wasnt until several year ago did i REALLY start watching a lot of stuff. because of this i feel kinda far behind since there are shows that i havent seen yet that others have [like trigun, lol]

I just happened to be parusing, and noticed you just started watching Bleach. Don't let the filler arcs get you down when you get there (although you have a LONG) way to go. I've currently got it on hold for the current batch of "filler" to finish up before I start watching again. The cannon stories are great. The fillers suck :P But I'm drawn in.... especially since my friend and I have a certain bet as to how it's all going to wind up... Ichigo x Rukia (his vote) or Renji x Rukia (my vote)... of course... you'll understand all of this when you catch up. Happy watching. ^_^

The election will be held on Sep 22. There are five candidates and Mr. Aso is taking the lead so far. But the outcome is still uncertain.

My concern is GONZO cannot be existing as "GONZO" when this anime is aired. GDH will be kicked out of the stock market in the next March. I heard they are now transferring their animators to some temporal company. In any case, I hope this turmoil doesn't affect the quality of the anime.

yea i have the whole emma manga series and i fell in love with it. i also saw the first season.... but i feel the manga's better - especially around vol.5 when a lot of drama surfaces.
i do wanna try shirley - has it come out yet? but i am more looking forward to the 3rd emma series - i forget the name but it's supposed to be a bunch of side stories that forcus on what all the characters are doing after the series ended
