Incest… One of the increasingly popular fetishes in the perverse industry, of Japanese entertainment; along with lolis and cat-girls. So if you’re a prudish individual then you’ve stumbled upon the wrong manga.

Kiss x Sis is an Ecchi, Romantic, Comedy that can be both fairly pleasurable and unpleasant to the average manga reader, since we’re dealing with an incestuous set-up. Just as the title implies, Kiss x Sis is about your average teenage boy (Keita) with 2 older twin step-sisters (Ako & Riko) that are infatuated with him and aren’t afraid to show it. This kind of incestuous romance has become very common in today’s ... manga, especially the H-kind, and sadly this one barely offers anything unique. The beginning of the story is just about Keita studying to pass the high school entrance exams, whilst getting into a lot of perverted situations with his sisters. Apart from that the first volume doesn’t offer much, albeit some romantic developments. The story does pick up at one point but this feeling is short lived and is replaced by their increasingly perverse High School antics, which is always trying to push the boundary between ecchi & hentai. It is at this point that the story degrades into just another generic harem; as the mangaka struggles to extend the life of this manga, with constant fan-pandering, that takes the story nowhere, except from one ecchi moment to the next.

Well for this manga to deal with twincest, obviously there must be twins and they come in the form of Ako and Riko. In the beginning there’s really nothing to differentiate between the two but as you progress you’ll quickly single out their mannerism. As for the male protagonist, Keita is just the type of person he is expected to be, a normal healthy teenage boy. This is good because his actions and reactions to his sister’s sexual advances are quite natural (in a sense), not that I condone of his actions. Well nothing much can be said about the rest of the characters because they are rather unimportant, until things shift to High School. Then they needlessly become important by turning this manga is into something it shouldn't be... a harem.

The artwork can easily be described in one word “plain”. The environments are non-existent and the characters have such a basic design, which makes telling some of them apart a tricky task. The only merit is that it is easy to tell what is happening in the panels and of course the ecchi is great for those who care for it. At least I can see some improvements as the manga goes on, but just not enough in my opnion.

Overall Kiss x Sis is a very enjoyable manga for anyone into perverted romances, mixed in with a lot of humourous sexual innuendos. Just as the title says, this manga involves plenty of kisses with sisters. And to all those who are turned off by the whole incest thing, then do not worry because they are not blood related… as if that excuse hasn’t been done before. Well in between all the perverted antics and the LOL moments, there’s still a mediocre yet nice story to enjoy, however with the mangaka constantly trying to push the boundary between ecchi & hentai… who knows what direction this could take Kiss x Sis in the later chapters.

I thought I loved the anime of kiss X sis. But apparently I was living on an alien planet because I had no idea of the manga, I just watched the anime and decided okay that's that.

I love the manga, cannot wait for more. The anime concludes around the 30th chapter and the manga is so far at 88th. That's almost triple the amount of Kiss X Sis development that I was missing and its a wild one. I love it. Perverted to no end, I can surely say Keita is a harem king so far.

So the anime/manga is about a boy who step sisters adore him way to much. Looking at the title at first glance made me think yuri since I am not a pervert I hate yuri. Later i gave it a look there are looks of misunderstandings about this manga one they are his step sisters and he likes them too. It is only about 23% to perverted and funny as hell. The only chapter i can't stand is the one where they raid his room that was sick.

At beginning of the manga, KissxSis is your typical formulaic ecchi: an average and relatable teenage boy, some pretty and kinky female characters and a quasi-twincest relationship, with a constant sexual tension and some flavoured school life.

By the 20th chapter, you'll start to sense some character development and the forming of bonds between the main characters as they delve into the story, at a really slow pace. For fifteen years Kiss x Sis pushed the boundaries of a variety of sexual taboos while being entirely self aware of how ridiculous its premise was, never caring to take itself seriously enough for you to question your moral compass. There are valid complaints that KxS leaned too far into the direction of comedy, rather than fully committing to the forms of degeneracy that it teases, but you’d be hard pressed to find many contemporary series that strike a better balance of ecchi entertainment than what is found here.

As can be observed from the title, the central taboo is the incestual angle of Keita and ... his two loving sibling-in-laws Ako and Riko. The series begins with Keita weakly protesting the sexual advances of his step-sisters, only to routinely cave at each and every opportunity. This progresses onto several other girls throughout the plot as he establishes a harem that increasingly craves the body of Keita, and he responds appropriately by becoming more and more assertive in responding to the advances of his admirers.

Typically, the sex appeal and likability of the admirers for the lucky protagonist are what make or break the appeal of a harem manga. But I posit that it is Keita who made this manga such a successful lewd romp. In Keita do you have a perpetually horny main character who instead of shying away from his admirers, embraced his libido and acted upon his urges at almost every opportunity. The man has no restraint whatsoever and can only be stopped by the divine intervention of Ditama Bow's penchant for ill timed interruptions. He almost completely embodies the will of the reader as he entertains every single member of his harem at various points of the story. While Riko and Ako early on do get the lion share of the attention, there is actually a point where their appearances become fairly sparse and other girls take the spotlight, which truly helps to keep the fanservice of this story fresh and creative.

This ironically leads to the biggest criticism of KxS however - for a series that succeeds so well at entertaining a wide net of perverted antics, Kiss x Sis never pushed its degeneracy far enough to fully climax reader satisfaction. Case and point - not once was there full nudity of the characters involved. While Keita, the main character, can completely see the exposed breasts and genitals of his harem the reader is always left using their imagination to fill in the blanks as their bodies are obscured. This creates a disconnect between the reader and their intended self insert hero as he's always the more privileged observer, which at the very least the ecchi reader asks for is to share their vision when to engage is never a reality.

Another, but far less important, criticism is the lack of a romantic commitment in this story. Kiss x Sis is better described as an ecchi comedy, with a hint of romance, than an ecchi romantic comedy. So if you are someone that gets personally attached to your waifus, ride or die for your waifus, are willing to catch a life sentence for your waifus, then you may want to brace yourself for the disappointment of your waifu not being placed on a pedestal above others and being “chosen”, as this manga is far more concerned about entertaining all parties than prioritizing any one. A lot of veteran Kiss x Sis readers were disappointed by this turn out, so try not to be one of us.

Needless to say, this isn’t in any way some thematically rich or high brow story. Much of the content is episodic and the tone vacillates between extremes of silliness and passionate degeneracy, with little to no in between. If that sounds like something you’d be into however, then this is a must read as there have been very few ecchi that blend lewdness and comedy together quite like Kiss x Sis. I will miss this manga and the niche that it filled for such a long period of time.

The manga starts decently, making the reader believe what the manga's story will be about the meaning of family and that even without blood people can be a family. But that's a trap, cause after the first 4-5 pages it will shows it's real goal: to making a shipping fanservice non-hentai manga kicking into every morality in the world!

First of all it's amazing how the mangaka try to make the readers believe that 2 "healthy" lady can't find better man in their entire country than their adopted little brother! Second, it's so disgusting that the "sisters" ...

the anime and manga are close in the story .though the ova wins out just because well its animated!!

Kiss X Sis is one of the most surprising manga I've ever read. What is surprising about it is how trashy, sleazy, and exploitative it is. Depending on your point of view, the incest is already pretty trashy. If you're not okay with the concept of two step-sisters lusting after their younger brother, then you probably shouldn't even come close to this manga. Don't touch it with a ten-foot pole.

Story: 1/10
As I said in the introduction, this is one of the most sleazy manga I've ever read outside of actual hentai. I get the feeling that the author doesn't know what he's writing, because the ... manga plays the entire thing for pathos and/or sexiness despite some pretty exploitative stuff being away a couple pages away. Sex is a huge part of the entire enterprise, but it can get pretty messed up in regards to that. If the incest wasn't screwed up enough for you, there are multiple depictions of urine and/or vaginal fluids played for sexiness (I guess), several scenes where characters are implied to masturbate, erections depicted through pants, and one attempted rape scene. Again, this entire thing is played for pathos which is completely destroyed by the cringe-worthy scene you've just read a few pages ago. It's an manga where the words "this is so wrong" are repeated several times in your head as you read the thing. Those with strong stomachs will be able to make it through without quitting the entire enterprise, but those who can't take it should stay away. It's completely and utterly shameless, but not in a lighthearted way, or a comedic way, or a clever way, or an ironic way, or a dark way, or even a good way. It's shameless in an exploitative way.

Art: 4/10
Despite it's sexually explicit content in regards to situations, this is an manga that really contains very little nudity or fanservice. Compare it to something like To Love-Ru Darkness or High School DxD, and the difference is clear. I have a theory that if it were like that it would be slapped with an 18+, but it's strange how restrained it is in the nudity regard. Those looking for naked girls should look elsewhere. That said, the art isn't great. It's highly simplistic, and can border on amateurish at some points. Still, it does its job well enough to give it a 4.

Character: 2/10
This is a harem anime, so lets talk harem protagonists. Keita Suminoe is basically what would happen if you crossed Makoto from School Days with Kasuga Arata from Trinity Seven. He's a realistic depiction of a teenage boy in that scenario, but in this case the teenage boy is kind of a two-timing jerk. He's not entirely bland, but he's certainly not a character who you can imagine a girl falling head-over-heels in love with him. Alright then, let's talk haremettes. His harem, save for one character, is a collection of thirsty hormonal women that can get pretty annoying at times. The only one you really want Keita to get with is Miharu Mikuni. She's the most likable person in the cast, and is pretty much a one-dimensional big-breasted meganekko stereotype.

Enjoyment: 3/10
I said that this is a manga where you can't help but repeat the phrase "this is so wrong" in your head. Well, that's for certain scenes. A lot of this manga is played for pathos and drama, and since the characters range from unlikable to bland to annoying it won't affect you in the slightest. Outside of some of the hilariously awful lines ("Why is incest everywhere?") that make it worth the read, it's rather a rather bland, boring, and often annoying waste of time.

Kiss x Sis strangely enough is one of the better romance stories I've read up to date. The writer definitely knows how to keep the manga going, throwing twists, changes, character development and even different writing focuses throughout it's runtime. And I have to give him props for that. It's almost never nowadays that I don't have the feeling that the story is dragging it's idea out for way too long.

[Quick sidenote, the title is probably top contender for the most "technically true" titles. Sure it does happen, even more than a hundred chapters in, but it really has stopped being the focus about 20% ...

So I have been reading the Manga since I finished the Anime series about two years ago and I have been reading up to its current chapter which 112, and my God how the ending of the that chapter happened really got me in the feels.

The overall story of the Manga is that you have Suminoe, Keita who has two step-sisters Suminoe, Riko and Suminoe, Ako, each one has there own personalty but I will be getting to that later. They are in love with him or so it feels that way seeing how he promised to marry one of them when he was very ... young (primary school), as he grows his feelings for his elder sister fades and he become a typical middle school/ high school student, sports, friends, thinking about sex, typical guys stuff. Then one day a new teacher shows and my God is she gorgeous looking, Kiryuu, Yuuzuki or Kiryuu-sensei, Keita climbs the academic ladder and then gets in homeroom with Kiryuu-sensei and is immediately in love with her (as would I) but the sisters attempt to bring back their little brothers attention back on them. Typical harem anime but with a twist and to find that twist and its no the faux incest its something else you will have to read the manga that is why I gave it a 9.

The art score I gave a 10 for the sole reason that the artist due well to convey the emotions of the characters and also they do a great way with the eechi stuff that sometimes I feel I should not be reading this in public, but they (the artists) do a great job in inking and the occasional color intro are done gorgeously (I must really like that word seeing how I have said it twice already)

Characters well this is kinda hard because I love the girls in the series each one has a personalty and i feel attached to them but I do have my favorite and my God isn't she the gorgeous one, can you guess who that is? The one thing that I do have an issue with and that is why I gave it a fair ratting of 6, is that Keita seems very cookie-cutter, we kinda see him as your typical protagonist in any other Harem style but there is a twist so you have to see what it is, but I do see that Keita is bit interchangeable with any other male lead in a Harem, he has little to no skills, has all these girls who want him for specific or no reason what so ever (that is the rub there), I would be friends with the guy at school just because he has all the cute girls pawing after him but still he very cookie-cutter.

My enjoyment is of this manga is outstanding a 10 for sure, the Manga sometime has this instance of breaking the 4th wall and also bringing you the reader in and really makes you laugh out loud or even "Gasp!" at certain scenes, even the occasional "I don't think this is a good idea" comes out on occasion. This is definitely a good read and I highly recommend this and up to the point they are in, the writers have some serious explaining to do!

For reference, I watched the anime many years ago and I gave it a 5/10. Why is the manga so much worse, to me?

Morality and other issues aside, considering the themes of this story, my biggest criticism has to do with the mangaka's decisions regarding how the story develops over time. Ditama Bow struggles constantly with many things:

1) the dad changes personality constantly across multiple chapters
2) some characters' actions go absolutely unpunished compared to others, leaving the reader confused on why that happens
3) it's very notorious that the author struggled a lot with bringing the story to an end. At some point, ...

So actually Kiss x Sis was one of my first ecchi anime. at that time i thought it was pretty good. It was fulfulling its job quite well, erotic scenes, fan service etc. With no real plot going on.
The real problem with the manga, is the fact that they tried to get a plot going on(after maybe 60chap).

There's really only one reason to read this manga, the fan service. Sure, many ecchi manga have characters you can grow invested in the outcomes of their stories. This manga has that, but there are no satisfying outcomes at the end.

Read it for the fan service but don't expect it to go anywhere and you won't be disappointed. I feel robbed of the narrative ending I was hoping would be at the end of the story.

There are heaps of better manga that have good fan service, more interesting characters and an actual plot and story arc.
