Both series feature a strange kind of romance embedded in the supernatural.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both series have a high school boy protagonist joined by an unusual female student who goes overlooked or is ignored by others (Another because of curse-related superstitions, Tasogare Otome because she's a ghost), and deal with the frightening and dangerous results of curses and superstitions relating to their school. Overall they both have a similar dark ambiance and ocassional disturbing moments, resulting in both series giving off a similar feeling.

Y'all, Dusk Maiden was my fave thing ever for 6 years (2014-2020), then I found Hanako-kun a few weeks ago. I think i have finally been persuaded into liking something else. I guess the most solid rec is... if you like Dusk Maiden for the premise/humor, you will definitely like Hanako. I would say there is a good chance you will like Dusk Maiden if you like Hanako, but not necessarily as much as the other way around. They are pretty different in depth, style, and sometimes tone, but I have said my favorite genre consists of Square Enix serialized, shounen, plot-driven horror comedies with  read more

While reading Classmate, Kamimura Yuuka wa Kou Itta I thought to myself that the only other story that has hooked me this well was Tasogare Otome x Amnesia Similar female leads Memory Loss Mystery
reportRecommended by MinM66
Both are rather peculiar series in that they feature a relationship between a living male and a supernatural female. However, do note that My Lovely Ghost KANA is seinen and is strongly geared for a mature audience, whereas Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is shounen embedded in mystery.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
At their core, both of these serialisations are mystery romance titles that involve a male protagonist with a female spirit.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both follow characters who belong to the school's supernatural club. It should be noted however that Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is more plot heavy, whereas Yamada-kun to 7-nin no Majo is fairly episodic in content.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Apart from the supernatural romance premise, both also share a detective focus.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
- Both male leads are singularly focused on helping out the main girl - Both are surrounded by other girls who like them, none of which can ever break through that focus - Both have slapstick harem elements that surround--but rarely interfere with--that basic story of a boy trying to help a girl with her problems. Dusk Maiden is a much darker story than Mayo Chiki. But the basic relationship at the core of each story is very similar.

Both feature ghosts who have regrets left.

Relationship between a male who is alive with a girl who is dead. both has supernatural romance in it.

If you like the combination of mystery and romance, this will scratch the same itch. I personally found the quantity of romance in Dusk Maiden to be more than Hwaja, but the maturity of content in Hwaja is definitely higher. Hwaja tells of an evolving storyline with depth of the characters, while Dusk Maiden mostly consists of the present day, past flashbacks and evolution of the girl MC during the interim period. Both stories are very touching, and dark. If you want a darker more mature storyline, pick Hwaja If you want more romance, pick Dusk Maiden if you like one you'll be sure to like the other.

Although these two series do not share the exact same genres, both do feature romantic and ecchi situations between a male protagonist and a female spirit.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both are romance-ish ecchi-ish comedy-ish manga that revolve around an amnesiac ghost and a male MC who has the ability to see and help them. "Tasogare Otomoe x Amnesia" leans much more heavily on horror (with horror being entirely absent from "Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san"), features junior high characters instead of high schoolers/adults, and it is more melodramatic and serious.
reportRecommended by YingZhe
Both series deal with the idea of the past and not accepting of it Bitter virgin is more traumatic to MC since she suffered a lot Tasogare is mostly about a ghost who doesn't wanna accept her past since she died Both series have a boy character that help the Mc alot

Supernatural romance is an integral element of the plot for both manga

So entertainining! So many ups and downs. Best ones for me

The main characters in these two are very similar. Both contain a male protagonist who is followed around by a female in love woth him and who holds deep dark secrets which are revealed slowly. Apart from that, the plot of these stories take very different paths.

Both mangas are packed with supernatural and mysteries. Their plot is hugely similar but the direction the author goes for both mangas widely differs. In some ways, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia is more cleverly written than Rengoku no Karma and the suspense is well played out. However, Tasogare Otome x Amnesia has slightly more of a horror element to it than Rengoku no Karma; it will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat. If you like Rengoku no Karma, definitely check Tasogare Otome x Amnesia out!

In some way, these two series reminds me one and the other. Both manga takes place at a school setting where there is an elegant but strange girl who roams around at school. They also like to often hang out around the school rooftop on the lookout for various things. Both series has some mysteries as well as comedy, drama, and romance. Both series has a similar feeling that I found to be at times lighthearted, other times dramatic with a melancholic with of presenting its plot.

*Seemingly* ordinary guy + supernaturally-based girl (both named Yuuko, coincidentally) -> she drags him on escapades. Often against his will. Though there's some awfully fishy circumstances surrounding the girl and her life. +More unnerving horror elements galore~

Both of the these manga focus on Mystery, and characters who mysteriously died, and Seeking the truth on how and when did they die, also shows the characters both meet and help each other out.

Both serialisations mix mystery, supernatural, and detective elements.
reportRecommended by radiantfire
Both deal with urban legends or rumors, though in drastically different ways.

What's noticeable: Snarky, sometimes aloof heroine -> keeps dragging the male protagonist into her escapades, whether he wants to go or not Both involve the two protagonists getting involved in the supernatural happenings around them (not to say the heroine isn't "supernatural" herself), and slowly but surely adding to their little "circle" of acquaintances. Despite the reoccurring comedy, both have very dark overarching themes, in Tasogare, the circumstances of Yuuko's untimely death, and in PR, the bloody fights for the throne between the siblings. In that, both are mostly episodic, but with small clues to said overarching themes being dropped in every chapter. Overall, it's kind of hard  read more

Both are supernatural shounen manga with a ghost as the main female protagonist. The main male protagonist in both stories are alive and the female ghost protagonist is their love interest. The male protagonists in both stories are determined to achieve a certain objective for the sake of the female protagonist. However, Blood Lad has strong action elements and has practically no human characters, whereas Tasogare Otome x Amnesia has strong mystery elements and has no demon characters.

A mischievous and forceful girl. A being shaped by belief. Uncertainty and darkness. The terror of faith.

Authored by Maybe, both of these feature very attractive and detailed art.

Tasogare Otome x Amnesia and Renai Kaidan Sayoko-san are familiar with their supernatural tropes. After all, both series' main female characters has special abilities that connects them with spirits and ghosts. Their relationship with the main male protagonist are similar with decent amount of development. And despite the nature of their story, both series maintains a lighthearted mood revolving with events of the series. There is however origins that are focused when it relates to characters. The story of both series also has deeper roots that is expanded with meaningful themes and references. Recommended for fans of supernatural.

A boy suddenly has a slightly older hottie enter his life. Only in Tasogare she's a ghost (whom only he can see and touch). Ane Doki is more comedy oriented, Tasogare is a mystery/supernatural manga, both series are great. Also I wouldn't call Tasogare ecchi ; it's closer to a romance with a bit of fan service. I'm not an ecchi manga expert but before discovering Tasogare, I didn't think I'd find an ecchi manga artist who could surpass or even be on par with Kawashita Mizuki. Well I'm happy I was wrong. Both author's (Kawashita and Maybe) art styles are a pleasure to the eye.  read more
