| oh i saw it coming, i saw it... but i still hoped it's gonna be solved in better way and everything will be alright again. This was probably stockiest and most emotional 1st episode of anime that I've ever seen. When I consider how intensive 1 episode was, I just hope there will not be anything more like this later in show, once we get used to characters. |
( Currently interested in OP MC genre. Recommendations are welcomed, preferable those yet not on my list ) |

| What did I just watch? In terms of a tragic childhood romance/drama story, this was everything Anohana should have been. Strong impact without it being forced or overdone. Such a quick and brilliant build up of the relationship with a good pay off. The music had such a strong effect. |

| Damn, that was a pretty good episode. Nice pitch and hit. HOME RUN~ Great atmosphere of the show so far. Kou is such a little kid getting not one but two cheek kisses this episode. Too bad about the ending. I didn't see that coming. :(... Sad but terrific episode. |

| I laughed slightly while seeing the comments in the first page.. Looks many of manga readers felt a quite dissapointment while this episode was airing ... In my opinion who didn't read the manga, feel this episode is quite powerful and mind-blowing instead, I didn't see those stuffs coming ... I think I can hope more and more of this series when I see the score of this anime that is quite high.. This anime quite 'bad' in the first episode, so I can assume that this anime will getting better ... lol |

| I'm not a baseball fan so this series was never on my radar. However, this thread made me curious so I checked it out. I recognized the Adachi Mitsuru art so I thought it would be a light-hearted sports comedy. Then that segment came and I found myself saying "no no no..." I'm depressed now :| |

| What the fuck is this? Why are you doing me this? Why all those feels? I expected a love triangle, what I got was feels, lots of feels... I tried. I really tried to hold it back. I ended up sobbing like a bitch. Fuuuuck, that was sad. The ending with all the montage of hold memories, like if they were fading away. That first episode remind me a lot of AnoHana, with the drowning of a loved one. All those feels right now, I'm confused. That show will be fucking hard to watch, especially since we'll see that girl each OP, ED and probably other scene. | It set itself up SO WELL where i loved the atmosphere, the characters, Everything was absolutely cute, light-hearted. And beautiful. I loved the Little Competition and the HomeRun at the Beginning and the absolutely adorable relationship between Akane and Kou.-sigh- then that ending happened... | That was so shocking and unexpected...is what I want to say, but after seeing people constantly hail episode 1 as tragic, I saw it a mile away. Nevertheless, it still was very compelling especially with the lighthearted build up of the first portion of the show. I think the emotional response would have been stronger if I had gone into this blind but I'm still satisfied with how this managed to bring out polar opposite emotions of happiness and cute hilarity to feeling empty as the ending song started playing during the funeral in its first episode. I think the part that hit me the hardest was when Kou says "What should I do? It's simple, I should cry." With that said though the lighthearted atmosphere prior to that heavily reminded me of the simple fun that came with Major S1. |

| A very boring and weak first episode that was saved because of a strong, sad ending. I also really dislike the art, the characters are just plain ugly. I'll watch a few more episodes though before deciding whether to drop it or not. It can't have such a good score for no reason. Might as well give it a try, who knows, maybe it'll pick up fast and i'll really like it. |

| This episode felt more like a season finale rather than a first episode. Good episode though. The only thing I don't like are the ears, but I'll get used to it soon. |
