I think they're just experimenting with art style. Other anime sometimes do it too for single episodes (like Gurren Lagann, Shin Sekai Yori or even the latter episodes of Sparrow's Hotel, just to name a few off the top of my head). In case of TTGL and SSY, I know it's because of the episodes were being done by a well-known guest director; for SH and Strange+, I don't know (though I imagine it's something similar). Why they do this at all, I don't know either. My guess is that they decided to go with a different art style this mini-arc just for the hell of it, maybe to make this anime even weirder or more random, so they might return to the old style next episode or feature yet another different one. |
