I normally wait, but there have been a few exceptions. The second season of Gundam 00 wasn't simulcasted and I was too excited to wait until the next day in order to watch it. Also watched the livestream of Shingeki weekly.

Unless I understand Japanese (Which I probably never will)
I wait for the sub.

Since I can't speak Japanese, I wait an extra few hours/days to watch a new episode.

Now a days I watch the raw (as in on TV here in Japan). Studied in college, so watching TV really helps with understanding. So I tend to watch the Raws even though I only understand about 40-60% of whats being said. Unless it's super technical then I'm completely lost.

Wait for the sub because I want to understand everything that's going on, and I'm not that desperate to watch the latest episode of an anime.

I wait for it to stop airing and then I watch raw or sub depending on the difficulty of the language used.

Only on episodes I've been eagerly anticipating (usually after intense cliffs) for a series I'm really invested in. So pretty rarely. It's easy to derive what's happening from tone, visuals, and limited Japanese comprehension, but at the same time, watching an episode at 75% comprehension still spoils you for the later watching with subs. It's really paradoxical. Having watched the raw makes the whole viewing experience of that episode less satisfactory than waiting to watch it subbed, but it at least satiates your impatience.

Just like other people said, why bothering myself watching it raw when I can't really understand about 95% of the speech it's like I'm spoiling myself.

I "wait".

Wait is in quotation because subs come out really fucking fast - not much of a wait really.

Voted Other:

Wait for the series to be released on DVD/Blu-Ray with a dub or sometimes a sub-only release.

Watching an anime in raw does NOT look fun. I want to know exactly what the characters are saying and what they are thinking. Why just sit there and guess what's going on by looking at the faces? Lameeeee.

I always watch anime in RAW otherwise cause I need to see the whole picture. If there's subtitles on the bottom you cant see some of the screen

people who use subs are dumb

I watched the last episode of Doki Doki Precure on a livestream as it aired in Japan because I just wanted the show to end already.

Being a kid's show the dialogue is very simplistic. Combined with my prior knowledge from watching 48 episodes of the show subtitled I had no problem understanding what was going on.

Good way to train my oral comprehension, but most times I'm so late with the weekly episodes of shows I'm watching that I don't bother looking for the RAW.
I did that with Sidonia no Kishi however: mostly because the subbers were so freaking slow to put out the subbed episodes.

Once every few months, I think: "Shit, I understood like half of that last episode without the subs, and this weeks subs aren't out yet, so might as well kill time and check out the raw".

And then I realize I'm actually full of shit and can only understand like 5% of it without the subs.

If even that much.

The only unsubbed anime I've watched was a hentai I do not even know the name of.

The plot was pretty self-explanatory.
I have never met a reverse harem that would not be greatly improved
by eliminating the female main character.

My Japanese is decent, but not good enough to understand deep plot and conversations. I watched the RAWs of Kuroko no Basket and its OVAs since I read the manga and it's pretty simple to understand.

I remember the first anime I watched, and uncosiously understood everything.
Then I noticed I didn't have any subs, and felt awesome.
It was only one episode, but it was way back.

check it out if you want, the language used is pretty easy.

I watch the RAW for the stuff I really know and when I have access to Japanese TV - like adaptions of manga I really like. If I miss that i usually wait for subs, though.

If you know Japanese or can make out parts of it than that makes sense but otherwise I don't see why you'd watch it raw because you wouldn't understand it.

I don't watch new animes, but if there was one I wanted to watch, I'd definitely wait for subtitles. I don't know Japanese, so it would meaningless to watch it if didn't understand anything at all.
