| I am very happy to see that Renge-chon's pet named "Gu" got at least one vote. You can see Gu at 14:05 in Episode 1. Gu is a tanuki or "raccoon dog", which is not actually any kind of raccoon, but merely is reminiscent of the raccoons which are common in North America. As you can see on Renge-chon's wooden sign, the name Gu is written as 具. It can have a number of meanings, including "tool", "device", "instrument", "equipment" or "implement". Basically, a 具 is a thing that you use for some purpose. Even pens, pencils and erasers are considered to be 具 since they are things used for writing. I am referring to the phrase "bungu" (文具) which means "stationery". A "bunguya" (文具屋) is a stationery store. The name Gu makes absolutely no sense when applied to a tanuki. As we will see in a later episode, Renge-chon is not yet very good at naming things. However, Renge-chon is still in Grade 1. In the school system in Japan, children normally don't learn any kanji characters until they are much older. So it is somewhat impressive that Renge-chon knows the kanji 具. But I doubt that she was the one who painted the sign. Even after learning kanji, it takes more time to learn to get the strokes right, especially when painting with a brush on wood. |

| I decided to add two new options to the list: - The intelligent rabbit - Mother of Komari, Nattsun and older brother Suggestions for additional options on the list are welcome. I strongly suspect that the show's producers are aware that Renge has turned out, unexpectedly, to be the runaway favorite character. So they may be adjusting their plans for Season Two accordingly. |

| If the cast broke the 4th wall and saw this poll, no doubt Natsumi would go "WTF!? two votes? am I only twice as popular as gu? How can oniichan be more popular than me? (now I am glad I punched his cat-girl) I demand a new poll!" :D If Natsumi's popularity keeps this low I would not be surprised if they send her to the city to an school for idiotintellectually challenged kids and introduced another female character >_< Renge's city friend comes to mind. |

| Suguru Koshigaya it's my favorite. Even if he doesn't talk, and has a very little presence, I think he's interesting, without saying that it's also handsome. I hope he could talk and have more scenes on the show. |

There'd probably be more of a tilt if people did a second favorite character poll. Though, I figure Natsumi probably will end up getting the least votes still because her character is fun, but she hasn't done a whole lot to stand out. |
| My full order (adding a few that aren't in the poll): Renge Suguru Kaede Hotaru Honoka Hikage Komari Kazuha Konomi (needs adding to the poll by the way) Gu Natsumi Natsumi's mother The rabbit The chicken Salt The cat 2nd through 8th (Kazuha) are all so close that there isn't really anything between them. There are significant gaps everywhere else in the rankings, though. And I like all of them except the bottom 2 which I am completely neutral towards. |

Or we are seeing yet another case of changes made that impacted users but not communicated to them? I wonder how long people would put up with this. As much as I have a bunch of information to share about anime announced recently I cannot share it in news board, and the anime series is too disorganized and chaotic to share information except with people already interested in the particular series. |

| My sincere thanks to the people who suggested characters who were not on the list. I just added four more: - Six-year-old Honoka's grandmother - The scary mother cat and her kittens - The chicken who lays 50/50 eggs - Konomi, the fashion-conscious girl who listens to Vivaldi on her MP3 player The older brother Suguru seems to be quite the dark horse. (i.e. a little- known person or thing that emerges to prominence) He is amazingly popular given that he has not yet had a single line. And in fact there is not even a voice performer for him, according to the Wikipedia page. I am hoping for an episode that focuses on him. On the other hand, Nattsun is remarkably unpopular, although recently she has picked up a few more votes. Renge-chon remains the runaway favorite. When I first put this poll together, I had absolutely no idea that one character would be so popular. I am glad to see that "Gu" is pulling ahead of "Salt". The anime did a poor job of the adaptation of "Salt". In the manga, "Salt" has six legs, but in the anime, "Salt" has eight legs. So it is not a faithful adaptation of the manga. Nyanpasu~ ! |

| I'm not all that surprised at people going crazy over Renge. I was surprised at how great Suguru has turned out. Kinda sad more won't vote for Hotarun...I mean, in a genre with all sorts of subtext only relationships and "JK" relationships, we have Hotarun. The goggles aren't needed anymore. And, she's got some hope with Koma-chan too! Considering how she reacted to Hotarun's advances! 頑張って蛍ちゃん! |
