| Komari's pile of leaves escaped from her in the wind. Meanwhile Natsumi leaves tidying her room until the next year. Hotaru making a special edition of koma-chan plushie. Once again, we hear her mother's voice from out of the picture. Ren-chon tried to stay up, but couldn't make it. Kazuho didn't even try. And off they set onto the mountain. Renge picking a nice lighthearted song to sing along to. And laggard Kazuho who looks inhuman in that weird mask. And Kaede has a flashback to Renge 6 years ago... In a disasterous attempt at babysitting. But it turned out well in the end, and thus Kaede's friendship with Renge was born. And what a friendship it turned out to be. I liked Kaede before, but my opinion of her improved vastly in this episode. Kazuho is seriously unfit. I guess that's what happens if you sleep 20+ hours a day, and are completely lethargic for the rest of the time. They get to the summit and watch the sunrise. Ren-chon's reaction... Ah brilliant. Going to have to rewatch this one, although that can wait for tomorrow. And buy the disc of course. Ordered volume 2 earlier today. I'm thinking I'll probably just buy the whole series. |

Indeed, I didn't like the lack of presence of the other main characters either, but it was still a nice cute episode nevertheless. It looked like Kazuho was going to rob a store with that mask on. Interesting list for how to look after Renge too although I don't recall Kaede avoiding the "binky bomb" or making fur seal calls. |
I don't recall Kaede avoiding the "binky bomb" or making fur seal calls. Renge did spit out the "binky" at her face fairly hard at one point. And I think the fur seal calls was really just to show that Renge was an eccentric even as a 1 year old. |

| Baby Renge is so cute, I wanna take her home! She wore her trademark pigtails because Candy Store put them on her :D. This was a nice episode, I was warm and fuzzy throughout. Renge really is my favorite character in the show, she's just so lost in her own little world, but then again, so do most of the characters anyway. December 23rd is going to be a sad day, I don't want to see this show go. |

| Whoa, Neko-Punch! Really liked seeing the how the relationship between Kaede and Renge started. Seeing Kaede tie Renge's hair like that was way too cute. That ending was too. |

| Wow, that was a wonderful episode. Best episode so far in the series. I was wondering when we were finally going to see some back story with some of the characters and here we finally got some. It was absolutely wonderful seeing Kaede and Renge work off each other in this episode. 5/5 |

| Damn, can't stand on Renge's cuteness in this, such a heartwarming New Year's episode. How nice that Kaede is much more closer to Renge even when they were little and the pigtails she gave her :D. |
| i like Kaede (candy store) a lot more after this episode. she's calm, laid-back, and down-to-earth. it feels really nice to watch those moments with Kaede and Renge but makes me sad because Candy Store isn't part of the main cast of the show and probably not much of her will be shown later on as it's episode 10 already. it sucks... i'm already liking Kaede even more as the series is 2 episodes away from ending. well, i guess it's better to have experienced it than not. also, some time-stamps of stuff from this episode that was cool: -5:30 epic travel music -6:33 lol @ the teacher's face mask -13:26 猫パンチ! | Candy store went waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay up in my books. The babysitting started off a bit rough, but renge and her bonded really nice by the end. When Renge climbed on her lap to use her as pillow, I nearly died from the cuteness. Or when they slept together. Or when candy store used those ribbons on renge while she shared her candies with her. There's only so much cuteness one man can take before he dies of HHHNNNGGGG Also, that sunrise looked epic. |

| The creators of this show outdo themselves almost every episode. I start the ep expecting one thing, but finish it impressed with how great it is. Each episode seems so short! The show is believable to a remarkable degree. The origins of Renge and Kaede's friendship was authentic in a way. I could imagine Kaede telling me the story herself in a casual, non-dramatic fashion. Kazuho's balaclava. The car traveling down the winding road to the trail-head. The rising sun starting to reflect in Renge's eyes. |

| The relationship and interaction between Kaede and Renge feels so genuine. Pleasant FEELS. So now we know why Candy Store just can't say no to Ren-chon :) Renge lying down on her lap, the neko punch and the afternoon nap...every bit was adorable O___O Hikage: "Is this like calling someone out behind the school?" Then again Hikage and Kaede seem to have stayed up all the way through, and then climbed a mountain and watched the sunrise. And then gone back down again. And Kaede drove them both ways too. | Nice episode with a nice background story again, and it mad me happy that i never did any baby sitting since it would have ended with a lot of trouble. Seems Kaede has a pretty good bond with Renge despite her uninterested appearance not to mention she is weak against Renge's looks. The part on the mountain was funny with the teacher tired and that odd looking headwear. |
