Oh god, I am afraid what the ending will have in store for us. PunPun has been an emotional rollercoaster from the very beginning and I just hope for an ending that is somewhat positive.

Welp, I know what I'm going to read next now. It was either this or Solanin, I guess I'll read Punpun first then.

A true classic. I will miss it dearly.

I fear the worst for poor Punpun, especially considering how soon it is ending after some of the stuff he's been through recently, but I'll hope for the best. Poor guy deserves a break.

It's had a damn good run, I would rather Asano put it to rest and work on something else, I'm loving his shorter publications right now. It's nice to hear I can get some closure fairly soon, it has really been a roller-coaster.

From where it left off that isn't a huge surprise, I hope I'm not disappointed in the ending cause this has been Asano's most ambitious work so far for sure. I saw on his twitter he had a copy of the 12th volume and it will be sold with a t-shirt, I would never be caught dead in an anime t-shirt but god damn do I want that one.

I would honestly love if he worked on something besides phycological/drama/slice of life next, but I'm pretty sure it's already decided what his next work will be. No matter what I'm sure I'll enjoy it, I've read basically all his manga and loved them all. Just would be nice to see him try something different for a change.

I'm a few volumes behind on this. I do want to re-read the whole thing through, so I'll take this opportunity to do so.

It is one of the most well written mangas I've had the pleasure of reading. Inio overwhelmingly shows that he is to be regarded not only as one of the best mangaka still working but as one of the best mangaka of all time with a nearly unmatched capacity of creating very deep pieces. Even for him Oyasumi Punpun is in a level of its own. People usually rave about Solanin and while I think it is a well written piece as well, it has nothing on this.

Anyway, I am looking forward to his future works, and considering his evolution I believe he will no doubt grace us with another masterful story in a few years time.

From a news 2013-01-19:
"Columnist Gō Yoshida published his second interview with manga creator Inio Asano in the March issue of Core Magazine's BREAK Max on Friday. The interview revealed that Asano wishes to undergo a sex change. Asano spoke of his admiration for transsexual fashion model and singer Ai Haruna (born as Kenji Ōnishi), and also that just wearing women's clothing did not suit him. "If I'm going to date anyone, it has to be someone like [Japanese actor] Ryo Kase," he said.

"Asano suggested that it is possible that his next work will focus on transgender issues. He plans to collect data regarding cross-dressing men and collaborate with another manga creator, Shohei Manabe"

I'm anxious to know how it'll end; part of me really hopes it'll be good for Punpun, the other part of me doesn't think that will be possible, considering everything that has happened so far:(

Friendly reminder that Punpun's mangaka is a woman and should therefore be addressed with the proper pronouns~

As a side note, as sad as it is that all these manga are ending it at least means my manga list has the slight chance of getting cleaned up a smidge. Manga lists are just so easy to make messy.

I meant more the first quote. Not trying to just be a dick, but sorry I came off that way. It has begun to piss me off that MAL has that in the description, and that ANN reported on it. I'm like 90% convinced that was just a joke/translation mix up. I think he said those things, but was obviously joking(not about admiring Ai Haruna, but going through with a sex change and who he would date ext.).Then because he isn't all that well known no one realized the mistake, or bothered to check. I check on his twitter every now and then and he never mentions anything about it, nor does it seem like he plans to have a sex change. It has been announced that he plans on doing a manga about the topic, and I think a lot of this came about because he was basically doing research on the topic. That being said, if it is what he wants to do all the power to him. I just think it is incredibly stupid that MAL has all that stuff there, and goes as far as to refer to him as a her....

like c'mon does it look like this guy plans on having a sex change anytime soon?

Honestly, until there is actually proof that he wants a sex change or goes through with it I think MAL should change the description.

While I haven't gone quite far in the manga, I'm honestly afraid of how it's going to end based on what I've seen. I can only cross my fingers and hope there's a way out from this downward spiral this poor guy is in.

This is one of my favorite manga, it's a shame to see it end. I wish Punpun a happy ending but there is no way that's going to happen haha. It would also be awesome if this gets licenced but the chances of that are pretty low.

Been reading this series from the start, I absolutely adore Asano's work. Hopefully Punpun finally finds some piece of mind and holds on too the love he has right now, though more than likely he's going to get busted or killed. We'll see how it goes. Pegasus and his gang of loonies are always entertaining, good vibrations =P
