So, did Chamber also figure that Kugel had kicked the bucket? After all, in his reply to Ledo, he only mentioned that Striker was not observing proper protocol, and he didn't provide a direct answer to fighting against Kugel.

my question how long has been dead the general,i mean his head felt down wich mean bones were dehydrated if i remember bones took 40 -50 years to be like that if im wrong

edit:It takes one year to the corpse to be bones ,and position of the body made felt down the head, anyways we cant se how much dehydrated the body

This is a good point. Something tells me Chamber might have lied about how much time has passed. That corpse was not 6 months old.

Actually, it makes sense. A corpse even under the best conditions will probably take about a year to become practically a skeleton, maybe a little longer in a sterile environment. Red has been on Earth for about a year, so he and Kugel probably arrived on time but Kugel died either before arrival or on impact. In an airtight environment his body kept it's shape, but with exposure to air, it became what it should have looked like.

Except not. It takes around 50 years for a body to become skeleton. If you dug out a year old grave it would still be "a bit" meaty" - even when factoring in the bacteria and bugs.

Umm, it doesn't take that long. Even Feer19 edited her answer. If I was to factor in bugs, elements, and animals, that body wouldn't have even lasted a year. Maybe you're referring to embalmed or mummified bodies? An even then, those are under certain conditions.

You could also be referring to decomp in a coffin, with the embalming procedures done, which slows the process considerably. And also that's taking into account how dry you want your bones.

For a small article on it, try here: http://www.wereyouwondering.com/how-long-does-it-take-for-a-body-to-decompose

I'm kinda late for this since i just watched the episode, but i may want to add to this. I may not be a expert in science, but didn't the commander and Ledo crash land on earth because of the Lamorak's Telemothy Swing, which could have been turned into WORMHOLE. If i remember correctly, don't wormholes bend space and TIME. The commander could have died before he entered wormhole or during the wormhole. My theories are that enough time had been twisted in the wormhole for the commander to be decomposed. So when he crashed on earth, striker was just keeping the body (already dead) stable until the latch was open. Another theory involving the wormhole is that the commander could have crashed on earth many years before ledo. Striker could have been on standby regaining energy for all those years. Striker then could have been re-awakened when Chamber sent the distress signal.

I didn't see anyone mention this the thread (or i missed it somewhere in the 16 pages). As I mentioned, I'm no expert in space/wormhole/black hole science, but i do know wormholes bend time. So if there are reasonable errors that's why.

Or this could all be debunked if it was ever stated that the commander and Ledo arrived on earth around the same period of time... If it was mentioned, i couldn't remember.
another way to debunk this is the assumption i give that the Lamorak's Telemothy Swing has similar properties as black holes or wormholes.... not sure if this was stated either. In the end, these are my theories.

Great episode. I was half-right, I expected Chamber to be the final bad guy precisely because Ledo starts to diverge so much from Alliance propaganda, and I don't doubt he would become like Striker if Ledo died, but it seems machine calibers cannot disobey their pilots (while they still live).

Also, awesome depiction of mecha combat. It fits the show's theme of the calibers being so unimaginably advanced, you can barely spot them while they're fighting. And whenever anime or film try to depict high-speed combat, it usually turns out looking slow; this really looked and sounded like they moved at supersonic speed.

Kugel's profile on this site is incomplete, I'm still trying to wrap my mind around what happened to him. I haven't watched episode 13 yet. The fake 'disease' and people wondering why Ledo wasn't dust at the end of the episode 1. >>

Wow good thing I didn't read the discussion for ep 11, I was actually surprised by the fact that the colonel was dead. An awesome episode nonetheless, although it'll be sad to see it end tomorrow!

Anyone knows when 13th episode comes out? Is there a break before last episode or something? I can't find any info whatsoever and it should be out by now.

deus ex machina - a "divine intervention" plot device out of nowhere.

chekov's gun - a plot device that has been consistently foreshadowed and properly set up in advance.

So Kugel is dead and Striker is the one giving the commands. Quite scary that the number one enemy at the moment is one of Chamber's counterparts.

Awesome episode. I kinda figured Kugel was already dead (or worse).

Looks like the story wont have time to sort out the alliance vs hideauze thing. Kinda reminds me of other Urobuchi stories which end and are incomplete.

Well, you could kinda see something wasn't right since Kugel was only being shown as a hologram projection up til now. But it was still an excellent conclusion to the episode.

I've really enjoyed this show up to now.. lets see what the final episode has to offer!

Wow... Ledo always gets revelations in the worst ways possible... Kugel's head falling off must've destroyed a little more of his mind. It's like watching him die a second time.

I agree. Even though it was predictable, there's not really much paths they could've taken at this point... it really doesn't bother me, since this series is all about Ledo learning the harsh realities of his life and learning to enjoy the better things in it.

As for the battle I didn't think it was amazing, but it would be retarded to me if this series went Gurren Lagann on our asses, with random ass attacks that make no sense.

This was an awesome episode imo.

So he was indeed dead. A bit too predictable, but it was still a pretty nice move.

Not much of a big battle (yet), but I didn't really have a problem with it either.
I really hope Ledo won't have to sacrifice himself in the end, though I kind of don't see that happening.

Wonder what that key hides o_O When I first saw it I thought it was either symbolical or just some commanding key for some stuff on Gargantia.
I guess it's gonna be some ancient technology that they once scavenged, that was meant as a last resort. I can't wait to see it :D

Kugel was dead the whole time. It was Striker who was impersonating him. That just wrong. I cringed when Kugel 's body started to decompose? That was decomposing right? Anyway shit hit the fan and I'm excited to watch the next episode. I have no what could happen. Great episode!

That pirate woman is a lot more enjoyable this time around. And I liked Pinion from the beginning, but my opinion of him as almost steadily increased throughout the show. Will be interesting to see how this ends.

Ledo was able to open the cockpit, so it's not beyond reason that he can also deactivate it. Why would Striker allow him opening it if he can prevent it?

Rackage's role is still not clear. Why would they keep her around and not make her "join" the cult? Melty i get, she's not important and Pinion/Flange are in charge of her anyways, so they can always do it later when the terms of joining are finalized. Rackage on the other hand..

Not that it would have helped, but to not even try?

About the sacrificies: Religious cults often have sacrifices for various reasons. In this case though, both being considered weak (remember, the GA kills people that are considered weak, and Striker controls the cult) as well as avoiding overpopulation might also have played a role in it.

About Kugel: he must have been dead quite some time. Probably not directly as a result of the battle with the Hideauze, as both Striker and Kugel don't show any signs of battle, but has probably to do with how he arrived on Earth in the first place.

It was predictable , there were hints everywhere and my deja vu sense helped me a lot ,but that it's great nonetheless.
I can't wait to see how this will end, I could see it now but I'll do it tomorrow because I need the hype to intensify .

I was wrong about the Kugel not being dead. Good episode, it's interesting that the Hidieauze evolved to the point where the animal took over and humans looked to the point where the machine took over. I see the show recommending a middle way.

That was epic, I love all out war!

I actually like what they are fighting for. Basically there is no reason to colonize something that has its own culture already, you're not doing the homeland people any favors.

They also dumped the bodies of the weak like in the empire. Which let Ledo realize that he no longer supports them.
