Great final episode, great anime :D

The level isn't high enough to get 9/10 though. Nothing wrong with that, mind you, it was plenty enjoyable and I will probably rewatch it a few times in the future. That's why on enjoyment alone it gets a very strong 8/10 in my book. Would gladly see more episodes if they kept the current level of entertainment (which is the biggest problem when it comes to sequels).

Also, the more episodes I watched, the more convinced I was that the alternative name of "World of Tanks: The anime" was perfect for this series xD (Currently have PzIV, StuG III and P38(t) in my hangar ;) Slowly working on Tiger (P))

Also: Now I would like to ask for this anime only with warplanes. And by warplanes I mean warplanes, not some magic crap without pants.

Is the motor for turret that strong ? Seems like the 89 tried hard to keep their position against the turret movement. Even if they're comparatively lighter than other tank, they still weight tonnes, plus the friction between metals

The Panzer III behind it was like, "Hahaha! You can' hit me!" BANG! *gets hit*
And that's just a stray bullet right ? ^^;

What happened to the tank that fall to the ditch (Elephant?) is painful to look at. It's like seeing finger snapped backward…

No, the Elefant was the one they got first by firing point blank into the rear. The one they pulled the classic hollywood cliff on was the Jagdtiger. And yeah, the thing weighs in at 71.7 tonnes (fun fact: that's about 10% more than the heaviest current tank), so it wouldn't matter how it landed. Even if it had landed upright, you'd see flying drive wheels and what not.

And the turret motors for German heavy tanks were overtaxed, so they were very generous there, and not just for the Maus. The Tiger was also known for having a rather slow turret traverse.

It's a shame this anime is already over luckily there still a few specials out there but only a few episodes.
This was a very nice anime learned a lot about tanks because of this spend some time on Wikipedia and such looking up all the models.
The action and story where pretty nice as well and it's also a good thing there wasn't much fan service for ones which made this anime better then expected.

The characters and focus on Japanese culture was also very nice.

So that's what it takes to take down a moving fortress that is a Maus. Ingenious, like all Girls Und Panzer fight scene, choreograph so brilliantly you don't even anticipate it or even think about it, I thought they were going to hide under the Maus shadow and lead it to some booby trap or something. Or they could have fired an 88 to the underside with Porsche Leopon while the Mause is wedge on top of the Hetzer. This show is so ingeniously choreograph, you don't even know what's Miho is going to do next, the way they took down frightening monster such as a Elefant Tiger and JagdTiger with a seriously under-powered M3 Lee, it's really opens up the adrenalin and endorphin gate like most Hollywood Thriller does, especially in a newly converted Tank Nut like me.

The Porsche Tiger, Ooarai's most capable tank, went down with an honorary fight like it should, a great testament to a Tiger's, either Posche's or Henschel's or Royal's, legendary armor, thou I don't recall any kills with that 88. Maho using her Henschel Tiger I (No. 212, Wittmann's ) like Michael Wittmann in WW2, moving the entire tank like a turret-less PanzerJäger(tank-destroyers) so that her maximum frontal armor is always in the firing range of her enemies. And Miho drifting her tank(not possible of that era) to the rear of the Tiger, for a clean shot at the weakest point of any tank, German's included, and yes at that range an L/48 75mm will easily punch through. Though few things I don't get, there's one point Miho whispered Howitzer, what Maho fired the 88 like a howitzer, technically not possible, Tiger's 88mm L/56 doesn't have a high angle of elevation. But a duel between a superior and lesser sisters, Maho & Miho, Tigers and PzkPfw IV, brings glory to the screen.

Yes, Garupan season 2 has been confirm and I really wish for better tanks, especially a replacement for that Type 89, aside from blocking the turret movement of the Maus, I didn't see much use of it. And the little Hetzer is better armored, arm and faster than a Type 89 with marginally heavier(12 vs 15 tonnes), easily replacing it for light reconnaissance rolle (which reminds me how fast that PzkPfw III ended it's bragging). Since there was a Maus featured, there is a possibilities of a super heavies such as Japanese O-I(there was rumor of one prototype O-I built and deployed in Manchuria) or TOG 2 or Char2C to be featured, or a higher possibilities of a T-28 super heavy or A39 Tortoise. But honestly, one or two heavy tanks in Ooarai wouldn't hurt, since the director has a habit to put not really famous tank design in Ooarai (Lee, 89, Porsche Tiger, Chi-Nu), a Mk VIII Challenger A20 or KV-1 wouldn't hurt.

It's a rare brilliance this anime, it's moe-like character design gives a cute tone to what would be a serious show that would be closer to Fate/Zero than.....Lucky Stars [?], ruining the humor and entertainment side. Other than the really dodgy script, there's really not much negativity. It'is brilliant in it's own way, and the choreograph is almost that of Gossick [I haven't seen Code Gease, but they say it's brilliantly battle strategy and choreograph, so yeah that's what I'am on about).....can't wait to write my first review.

Why didn't they move that Tiger (P) into the tunner? Than enemy might have problem with going above it - but still it was a great moment.
Nice to see other team members in action - part with Jagdtiger was adorable.
And of course that ending with Miho's mother.

9/10 - it was worth of waiting for those last two episodes :)
what really surprised me here was lack of any pantyshots, weird jokes only panzer-porn. Most welcome here and I do hope for more series like this to come.
Only what they will show than? We already had most of tanks from WW2 - at least those that were useful (minus Maus) so fight with other teams with random types might be interesting.
Or some lesser known, let's say Sturmtiger and going into "WTF is this area" K-Wagen or Lebedenko Tank (ok neither of them was really tested but especially second one looks awesome).

Well, the Maus opened the door to prototypes, and there are a lot of prototypes out there they could use. German, Japanese, Soviet, British, and American. I have a feeling we will see those. Alternatively, the WWII fetish may only be for high school, international competitions could have different rules allowing more modern tanks.

"That's Sensha-do!"

Damn, now I'm thinking of building some tank dioramas. 'The Last Stand of Leopon' would certainly be interesting. But that certainly was a fullfilling climax to the series. While some people may prefer the more 'realistic' tank warfare shown in Ep 11, I think this episode demonstrates where the show's heart it. This isn't warfare, it's a sport/martial art.

By the way, one of my favorite scenes is when the Duck team is atop the Maus and you can glimpse Noriko and Akebi (commander and loader) pushing on the inside of their tank in desperation. GUTS!

And having the first-years take out two of the heaviest-armored tanks was cool. Plus, having the revolving-turret-POV shot made a nice bookend with the first episode.

You might be right - as their teacher was using modern tank if I recall.

So maybe they will go that way, still modern tanks are boring - there is little of 20's till 40's crazy ideas like multiple turrets or Ratte-kind abominations.
But for now we just have to wait and have faith in creativity of staff, so far they did great job.

It was surprisingly far from being one of the worst anime of this fall season. I can see that it was done with a lot of dedication, the animation was really great, those tank fights were amazing, a delight to the eyes. Unfortunately, when you get past the gimmick, you see that what truly happened in this anime was nothing to write home about, it was just a very classic sports anime. But overall, it was a nice experience.

One last thought. People may dislike the whole concept of the show whether it's the all girls cast or the militaristic fetish, but there is no denying the good that the anime has brought to the town of Ooarai. They might not have suffered as much damage from the earthquake/tsunami as other parts of that coast but they will now become a GuP pilgrimage site

Perfect ending. Just perfect.

When this show first aired, I didn't expect to like it THIS much. It was so under the radar with low expectations, yet here we are months later and it's one of the most successful shows last season.

I really hope we get a second season. I don't know how they'll do it, but it's up to the writers to make it happen!

Overall, this was one of the most surprising 10/10 for me. Loved it. The battles were done brilliantly, and all the characters worked well together.

I just logged in to say I think this show it's so far the AOTY for me, unless Railgun S or some show are really good, it will be VERY difficult to surpass this anime for me. I love tanks, and I think in the end all the characters were necessarily to win. Even the last team who protected the flag tank by pure luck at the start of the last battle.

Would like to see more of Miho in her previous school. An OVA would be fine. And obviously I'm expecting a S2; however, it seems to me the writing was too perfect, I doubt they could surpass themselves.

And Mako was awesome. So was the president.

10/10. I even think the time they made us wait for was to study and scheme the best battle tank ever in an anime.

Understandably, not all of the Laws of Physics were represented in the same
level of detail in every scene.

I recall several months ago seeing a tweet from Tsutomu Mizushima in which
he said he was extremely happy with the animation of the tank suspension in
some of the recent work of the animators. So that shows that the state of
the art seems to have been evolving as the series progressed.

I would want to check again, but my impression is that the first scene of the
series with all of the tanks on the rocky road did not take trouble with the
details of the tank suspension. However, we were all dazzled by many other
things, so I am not complaining at all.

The first time that I can clearly remember a scene in which they evidently
were careful to show realistic operation of the suspension was in the
scene where Mako parked a tank in the tank shed. It was not her tank.
One of the other teams were having trouble driving their tank. So Mako
helped them out. Mako did an excellent job of parking the tank, and it
shuddered just a bit after it stopped. That subtle shaking made all of the
difference in making it seem real.

It is not practical to do every scene in full animation. Otherwise no anime
would exist. The genius of a brilliant director like Mizushima is to constantly
make us notice SOME beautiful things (such as tank suspension) so as to
create the mental illusion that these things are ALWAYS happening.
Physics was evident from the first episode, but not necessarily in every frame. There's a neat moment when the Mk. IV is leading the way and all of the characters open their hatches and come up for air. Just then, the tank dips, causing their bodies to sway. Then, when the peel off into Operation Sneak, all the tanks show the effects. But there are some moments where they racing along early in this scene, where there isn't any effect.

It's also evident in the second episode, when their instructor makes her entrance. Even the transport plane gets the treatment as it strives to maintain its equilibrium as it drops the tank off.

Great episode. Great show. I really enjoyed how well they took an essentially normal school, with normal students, added some prime absurdity, and made it into an engaging, enjoyable show. I also liked how the best tankers, especially Miho, aren't supernaturally gifted. They're just brave, smart, talented, daring, have great instincts and are wonderfully daring. For what it's worth, some of those adjectives would apply to the creative team for the show. Kudos for a job well done.

If they ever release the BD here, I'd pick them up (assuming reasonable pricing of course) and add to the sales volumes. I'm in for a second season as well.

Update: They did actually release the BD here and while expensive, I liked the show enough to pick it up.

You know, this series was a bit underwhelming for me at first. Idk what it was, maybe the concept but as the episodes progressed, I got a lot of realism from what I originally didn't get from the series. Oh yes, I'm talking about the origins of the tanks.

I will say that the OP song for this series was very catchy as well as the ED song's visuals. Additionally, I thought the large cast was well done with many of the girls getting in a lot of her own highlights. Ya, the team and stuff.

The intensity of the finale episode was good especially the first five minutes with business picking up right from the get-go.

Well, the finale episode was pretty good imo. The action mixed in with the girls on the team and fighting in their cool tanks depicts that sense of realism which I got pretty well through. The gauntlet match in this episode was performed beautifully.

That duel @ the school yard was excellent. Overall, I will give this show a 7.5/10 rating with some underwhelming episodes though. Still, a pleasant watch and quite refreshing.

On a side note, I wonder if we will see any male teams. I know there was a rumor going on stating there is a rule preventing men from using tanks, but on my reviews in Ep 10 at the 14:36 Mark you can see male Soldiers on tanks fighting WW2, also there is References in the story about Rommel and other WW2 Generals. So I'm wondering if thats been thrown out of the canon (even though it was more of an opinion) and there is a males version, as in all the schools are devided alone sexual grounds as would be the Tourny unless there is some grand World Championship, or a co-ed Division. In fact that might be a neat take for a S2.

It's not "rumor", only women are allowed to participate in Sensha-do.
Heck, even Sensha-do was created so that the tanks would not be used as war machine by men.
That "male driving tanks" that you see in episode 10 is "Kelly's Heroes", a real film. It could be a fiction in GuP world just like GuP in ours. And whether GuP's Rommel is the same as ours remain to be seen.

The characters were nothing to write home about and the series was, at it's heart, a rather basic sports story. But, I think it told the story well enough and the use of the Tanks in a sports setting and very solid use of strategy earn it a very solid 8/10 from me. Would love another season.

Loved the finale! It's these two last episodes that make the the show worth it for me.

I loved how they dealt with the Maus by jamming one of their tanks under it, so it couldn't move. I really didn't think that they would actually try and take out that tank since it was so powerful. I also liked them leading every Kuromorimine around the town - splitting them up - and taking them out one by one. That was a good plan by Miho. That duel of tanks in the end was simply amazing and the animation was excellent as well. Mako was pretty good too with that awesome driving of hers. I'm really glad that Ōarai won in the end, but sad that this show is now over.

8/10 for me. I really hope that season 2 comes out soon since this show really does deserve it.

I also liked Miho's plans. Furthermore, Miho always showed a genius for
Senshado so that she was quickly adapting her tactics to meet the evolving
situation.

However, Maho also had a great plan: Have many up-to-date tanks and
defeat the enemy by brute force. I never noticed that Maho did anything
especially brilliant.

Great Episode overall, well worth the wait to be honest.
The animation was top class as usual and the action kept me interested.
It had some small issues though, driving a T38 under a Maus would have crushed the T38 into a fine paste as the T38's suspension and tracks were designed to carry a light ~10 tonnes tank, not ~109 tonnes as it did with the Maus on top. The Hetzer mod alone(~15 tonnes) was pushing the chassis harder than recommended.

Still, putting that small issue aside I give this ep. a good 5/5 and the series as a whole either 8/10 or 9/10 depending on the specials.

On the topic of those, does anyone know of Subs for them? The second OVAs' been out for a while, but I haven't been able to find any subs for it...
