I'd like to say that I have high hopes for this, but I really don't.

Wait, I just read that they produced The Walking Dead.

Might not fail miserably, then.

Sorry, I can't have any faith in any anime or manga adaptation the americans make.

I bet they would even change the nationality of the characters... >>

I don't know the TWD novel but I think 2nd Season plot is really slow although it's pretty good series overall.

On topic, I'm corcened about what they will do to Pinoko.

This is going to suck.
The legal age of consent in Japan is 13, so shota is totally legal in Japan. In some western countries shota might be considered child porn.

The anime/manga aren't really anything special by today's standards.
The stories are short and sometimes quite idiotic. The art isn't very good either(ignoring the disney style). Black Jack is kind of cool in a Harlock way though.

In the deadline article:
"Taka Ichise and Doug Davison, who worked together on Western adaptations of the Japanese movies The Ring and The Grudge, will executive produce the series for eOne. "
Ehehehe..... eeeehhh.... thinki I'll pass.

And as far as I know, they weren't responsible for the making of TWD, just it's distribution.

Seriously?

Holy crap, i need to re-read that and possibly watch the Anime. I can't help but think i'm going to laugh once it airs though. I don't think something like this is fit for a US audience.

So this is like House fused with Dr. Who?

This shit will be a hit, watch.

If there is one thing an American show can sell, its a medical show.

Some of the people here that think that this show will suck fail to realize that medical themed(some mixed in other themes) shows regardless of genre or origin have been more hit than miss in the US. Plus that this is the first anime/manga franchise adapted to a live-action series in the US as most have been anime dubs with a few live action movies thrown in. Here are some med shows that aired in the states:

City Hospital(1951-1953)
The Doctor(1952-1953)
Medic(the first medical procedure series 1954-1956)
Ben Casey(1961-1966)
Dr. Kildare(1961-1966)
The Doctors(1963-1982)
General Hospital(1963-Present) it justed aired its 12,619th episode on 8/3/12.
The Nurses(1962-1967)
Medical Center(1969-1976)
Marcus Welby, M.D.(1969-1976)
The Bold Ones: The New Doctors(1969-1973)
Dr. Simon Locke(1971-1974)
Emergency!(1972-1977)
M*A*S*H(1972-83)
Doctors' Hospital(1975-1976)
Quincy, M.E.(1976-1983)
Trapper John, M.D.(1979-1986)
St. Elsewhere(1982-1988)
Chicago Story(1982)
China Beach(1988-1991)
HeartBeat(1988-1989)
Island Son(1989-1990)
Doogie Howser, M.D.(1989-1993)
Northern Exposure(1990-1995)
Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman(1993-2001 including the TV movies)
The Human Factor(1992)

In the end even if the show doesn't suck it still has to do well ratings wise.

After I saw that the only show by them I know is Walking Dead, and that is horrible from writing to acting to almost every aspect, I lowered my expectations.

I would actually have high hopes for it, but now I'm not sure. I'll wait until we know more about the cast.
I probably regret this post by now.
