I just hope there's a happy final ending. It would be so painful to break them up now. Especially seeing them lovey-dovey in the preview scenes.

Tearing them apart after that heartwarming confession would be a truly sadistic and despicable thing to do. And something I can't see the writers of the show do.
With only three episodes left there's not that much to happen except the solution of the Mio-Kanna-Tetsurou dilemma plus an obstacle from space that would try to take back Ishika but would ultimately be stopped by Kai's love for his girl.

Basically an Onegai sensei/Twins style ending? lol

Ichika reveals that she's an alien. Except everybody acts like it's not a big deal? Then we see Ichika running away from Kaito, until Kanna calls her out on it. The ending shows Kaito and Ichika finally confessing to each other... with Remon filming them! (She's just too good!)

I refuse to vote in the poll like I usually do in past episodes. 5/5 just doesn't do this episode enough justice!
Think the supporting cast is pretty incredible for a 12-episode series, Kanna gained a lot of marks from me for her actions in this ep, and Remon is just being Remon. Even Ichika has finally started to act after several episodes of hesitation.
Do think that they acted a bit too okay with Ichika revealing her identity but hey, this is anime so why the heck not?

I really hope your right man; because after that scene the writer would really have to be a sadist to tear them apart; i don't mind last minute tension as long as it ends with her staying with Kaito; and ya i think definitely at least one of these next episodes will be dedicated to the other ppl; perhaps this next one.

My opinion: This show has approximately one too few males and/or one too many aliens for everyone to be happy (not counting Lemon).

That was a satisfying ending for Kaito and Ichika, though trouble most likely isn't over for those two. On the other hand I feel terribly for Kanna. I do hope she finds someone whether it'll be Tetsurou or another.

If that happened, there would be no point to the title. Or the way that it seems Kaito is telling a story sometimes. She will either leave without him or stay. If she stays, something else bad should happen then, perhaps with other characters. Hopefully :)

This episode felt like an ending... but there is still a lot more to tell...
But I have no idea what will happen in the last 3 episodes.

Of course the anime will end with the movie they made.
But I am pretty sure it won't end happily.

I am really loving this love pentagon.

Ichika <- Kaito <- Kanna <- Tetsurou <- Mio.

Tetsuru really can't let go of his affection of Kanna

Of course. Because he loved her all this time and she has a big emotional problem now, so how can he give up on her and just create a lovey dovey couple with Mio? :) Even if he never becomes Kaito’s replacement for Kanna (Tetsurou/Kanna is impossible for me), he cannot think of himself at the moment.
Maybe later Tetsurou will try to find happiness with Mio. I would really like this because...

2005-2010 -> barely any romcom/drama that finished with any romantic developement.

2011-2012 -> kisses everywhere.

Studio sure changed the way they went at it, not that I actually mind it.

Also gotta like how everyone in this show is a stalker.

Is that how you saw it? I don't think what Kanna did was "letting go." She took out her frustrations on Ichika by more or less saying "Kaito is the greatest thing in the world and you're running away from it? Are you crazy?" She projected herself onto Ichika by implying what she would do in Ichika's position. Jealousy can take many different forms.

True, but she knew what saying that to Ichika would have meant. That's why she ran off crying, she knew at that point she'd been defeated =P.

not enough drama for you I suppose? Life isn't that dramatic either, except for those invovled. It's seems to "lack emotion" probably because we're the "observers" in the story. Half of the emotions the characters are feeling aren't displayed outright. A lot of the emotion is implied / hinted, and that subtlety is what makes this anime so good. Disregard the fact that the plot may be simple for a second, and just appreciate how "human" these fictional characters are. I think more Animes should humanize their characters, not turn them into someone only found in fantasies.

Yes, I would say that it is lacking in drama and lacking in characters that I can actually enjoy.

However, when it comes to feeling like "real life" I don't know how this should could be related to that. It's about fucking aliens. Last time I checked the only aliens I know are the ones who mow my lawn, not busty red headed ones with glasses. Any sort of realistic setting or realistic development goes out the door with such an outerworldly plot.

I think Kanna gave up more than being defeated. She knew that Kaito liked Ichika and did not want to try and get in the way of that anymore. If Kanna had not confronted Ichika, our alien may have actually left without confessing to Kaito. But we can't have that... :\

And as Kanna said, an obstacle would be removed if Ichika did in fact leave. But I doubt the obstinate Kaito would allow that to happen, and would ignore Kanna anyways. Tough luck :(

Lol what a terrible rebuttal. Obviously a story like Berserk isn't realistic in the sense that it's not a fantasy, it's realistic in the sense that you can relate to the characters personalities and nothing about their personalities seems fake. Keep building those straw men.

I was actually relieved that Kanna finally decided to let go. It was sad but it was bound to happen or else she would be more devastated.

I liked that Tetsuro was there at that moment but I still don't know what is going to happen. Mio is still in the picture and Tetsuro knows about her feelings for him, so there is a big chance that he will choose her or that Kanna might try to get them together if she found out about Mio's feelings. I still want Kanna with Tetsuro but I don't know if it will ever happen.

Kaito and Ichika got their happy ending a bit so soon, so the focus now will probably be on Tetsuro, Kanna, and Mio. I kinda get the feeling it won't be a happy ending for those three but we will see.

Amagami SS's setting is about as boring and realistic as you get, but everything about that show just yells artificial. Why? because it's a "fantasy" not as in the genre, but it's just something that would never happen in real life. Dating sims, eroge games, etc. They all capitalize on people's need to escape from real life.

I think that Ano natsu, although it does have random sci fi aspects, is at it's core, a pretty believable romance story. I personally haven't been involved in a situation like this, but I have seen it happen among my friends around the time we were finishing high school, and let me tell you: Ano natsu does not stray too far from reality.

This show has been completely predictable and has done nothing exceptional through all 9 episodes so far. It really lacks emotion and it just feels like something that I've seen 50 times before. I normally feel the same way about generic H Game adaptations or generic manga adaptations, but for an anime original I had much higher hopes. This show hasn't been offensive or anything, but it really doesn't strike itself as something out of the ordinary. It's just "too vanilla" feeling for me.
i'm not bashing your opinion or anything.. but in my case, i miss shows like this that are "too vanilla".. all i get from the past years are harems that usually don't work out, romance shows that have the female audience as the primary target, or great romance elements in a show but are embedded only in a much larger plot element such as sci-fi or fantasy action or mystery.. i don't need this show to be too surprising.. i just want the director to pull it off well with the story he's been given..

nope, this isn't exactly what i'm looking for as it's also a harem.. and by the time of watching, i wanted to burn tsundeRie loli main heroines.. also, what romcom/drama with kisses everywhere in 2011?

anyway, hooray for this episode!! and Vidro Moyou is now one of the best ED's ever.. goes with a cliffhanger, goes with a resolution, and can go alone as a very lovely song..

I think the character dynamics are very realistic. Once you take context into hand, you can start poking many holes into the romance side of things though.

What some may be getting at is that the context of Ichika being an alien and the lack of any real impact that context had on the plot makes the romance less realistic. It isn't normal to have a relationship with an alien, right? How does an alien so easily know how human relationships work? Her being an alien has contributed nothing unusual to the romance, despite how unusual it should be. How is this realistic? I guess it's unrealistic because of how realistic it has been...

The fact that everyone is okay with her being an alien really begs the question of why she had to be an alien in the first place? Although I think the alien issue will be handled further in future episodes, to this point it has only contributed convenient plot points (have to heal Kaito with kisses, gives Ichika a reason to feel guilty about leaving and have Kanna confront her, etc).

This could have been a very realistic show if you took away all the alien stuff, but this was added to give Ichika a certain flare to her character. Honestly, take away her alieness and she's fairly average.

Very true. I'm just assuming her planet is populated by a more advanced species of human (nanomachines...metal gear solid? lol). Either that or she has information of earth from her home planet, hence why she's somewhat awkward, but she can still abide by societal standards.

I do agree that Ichika is a very average character despite her being an alien and all. Average or not though, they still managed to make her a good character. Half the time I'm not even thinking about her being an alien haha.

*So many emotions*

I certainly enjoy how there is little to no time wasted in any of these episodes.
It is constantly advancing the story with a performance that rivals perfection.

Usually it is not much of a challenge to chose sides in a love triangle.
But with this Kanna x Kaito x Ichika I want to rip my hair out.
I had to painfully refrain from bawling after Kanna's conversation with Ichika.

I also fully agree that the Hollywood ending was episode 9.
I'm worried they will push the limits of the fans with a possibly overly lovey dovey relationship.

I don't like Ichika at all. Ive tried my hardest but I can't bring myself to feel anything towards her character. I like female alien characters (like birdy the mighty) but watching this show makes me wish it would turn into a action genre and that she would get vaporized out nowhere (probably by MiB).

Maybe its becuase I hate seeing Kana sad, I know Tetsuro will be there for her but then what happens to the other girl? She gets left out. It seems Ichika is inadvertantly messing up the domino plan.
