I can't believe they didn't show the initial reactions to the incident. That's the biggest thing I was looking forward to in this episode (I don't mean that in a bad way, I just really enjoy some drama).

The fuck is this. First it went from ecchi fan boy service central, then it went to something with family merit, which is quite touching, but let's top it all off with a tragedy to create a reason for them to be alone together and revert back to ecchi central. I don't know about them, but i'll be in too much a state of shock after losing my mother/father (or in the guy's case, my dear beloved sister who raised me - to be worrying about my loli sisters).

That said, can't say that life would be hell-a-interesting given his situation.
Oh but in reality, this would never work. Most people out there (given that the general age group of anime watchers aren't even old enough to support a child anyway) don't realize how much of a burden raising children up is. And for this guy who's in college and going to have to raise 3 children? WTF? I for a second tried to picture a scenario where I had to raise 3 siblings on my own and I don't see it coming. I would literally have to change majors for something that's quick and profitable. And even then, the next 2 years waiting for me to graduate/find a job would be hell. Ugh.

The good thing is that this is anime, and a comedy to boot, so reality can kiss it's own a--

Actually imo(not really a spoiler), the manga I've read so far portrays all the issues and set-backs they have to deal with quite realistically....or at least not ridiculously optimistically.

wow that was a fast turn of events
first ecchi then into a tragedy
i guess the next episodes will be more gloomy? coping of being poor and the sadness from the accident
but at least they won't be separated. I hope the next few episodes won't be mainly ecchi based, it would be so inappropriate if that happened
Looking forward to this series like most of the new line up of animes

Hina was so cute introducing herself to Yuuta.

Sora is so shy. When her hand touched Yuuta's hand, while they were washing the dishes, that showed Sora loves Yuuta so much.

Took a lot of courage for Yuuta to stand up to the family and say that he will take care of the 3 girls. I want to slap those elders for even thinking about seperating them.

5/5 The writer for this episode handled both the comedy and the sad part really well.

I read the synopsis so I saw it coming, but still hopeing for that happy-end plot twist by the end of the series. great ep this was.

But give her a randoseru and it could work.

Although I didn't read the Synopsis, I was kind of expecting it. Hopefully they crashed near an island and wont get stranded there for a year....

Sudden mood change, but they didn't focus on the dramatic part because i dont think the producer wants this anime to be considered a Tragic / Drama with a dark atmosphere rather than a serene, joyful and colorful storyline it's currently having.

Artwork is Amazing ^_^ VERY refreshing!

Wy'd they have to go and change the manga around? It was not far from perfect there.

Seriously, made it lost some of its touch.

Papa no Iukoto has the potential to be a very heartwarming tale about family, hopefully they don't overcrowd it with fan service.

This director's in my hate book now.

This.
That funeral part was a bit rushed. There were a lot of things they could explain better (like why the 3 of them have to be separated).
Oh well, this is just the starting point anyways.

At least I can say they did a good job adding some emotional background to the story that added development right away. Especially after getting into the mood and attached to the characters so well. This anime shows that it's not one type of mood to the anime throughout the whole series. It's gone up and down. And I hope it kind of stays that way. When it's not so linear, it turns out to be much, much better that way, Most people who know their anime can testify to that, as well. I have to say, though. I read the synopsis and got mislead. It said the plane had gone ''missing''. Not crashed. So, that was pretty unexpected. All I can hope for now is the same great anime continue on for the rest of the series. Looking forward to the next!

I don't need to explain it better because it is common sense. All you have to do is think about which is easier, finding 3 different homes that can take care of 1 girl or finding 1 place with that can take care of all 3 girls.

"hopefully they don't overcrowd it with fan service"
Read the manga, there's already plenty of fan service going around there.

I was getting Asu no Yoichi vibes from the series from the start. Hina/Kagome = youngest sibling, just really there for that touch of the young & cute; Miu/Chihaya = sister not really interested, but knowing about the olders' crushes and teasing them; Sora/Ayami = crush on the male and trying to be the mother figure while tsundere and Yuuta/Yoichi/Ibuki = responsible 'eldest' trying to keep the others going.

The event with them returning after the weekend made things all the better, w/overprotective father, which only made it worse when they turned up missing.

Unfortunately, also getting Kiss X Sis vibes from this, what with Raika being outside the family but also part of the 'harem' and the fanservice >.<

Wish this kinda series could be done without the fanservice, probably isn't because they just want the sales though.

And while Yuuta taking them in to his apartment makes sense (assume the girls transfer schools) having money issues doesn't really. The family was willing to take the three girls in seperately, but not willing to support the guy taking on the responsability of keeping them together?
It's not like the family was going to abandon them in the first place, it's not that different to just send the money to Yuuta instead of having them live at their place and paying for them. Funnel the money from three sources into one.

Dear lord Hina is adorable. I imagine a lot of personal bias in favor of this show comes from the fact that I have a niece who just turned 4. Still, I'm pretty sure the series will have an identity crisis, if it doesn't already. The show at college and the show at the house feel like two completely different things, and I'm worried that it will take away from what could really be a quality series. For now, I'm hooked. Hina is enough reason to keep watching, and if they pull Raika back into the story, all the better. Crossing my fingers that I won't end up disappointed.

Yes, it is common sense. My problem is with the way they deliver the message. They didn't discuss even that much, then it suddenly became like "Ok, now girl A comes here, B here, and C here." In the manga, they actually elaborate on why the other family members cannot take the 3 of them in all at once because of each family's circumstances. That's why I felt it was a bit rushed.

Great episode! The girls are adorable like last time. The first 3/4 of the episode was a mix of cute, funny and heartwarming moments. Especially when they sang Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. I actually sang alongside them! Afterwards, the song got stuck in my head for over an hour... x.x

And then the last 1/4 of the episode... sudden mood swing. ;_;

Indeed I agree with you. Can anyone give the piece of info from the LN that explains it?

I know very good Samaritan people who did that for Haganai so it might be nice to read on in this thread.

I haven't read the LN myself, but I've read the manga/side manga of it. Not sure how the LN did it, but based on the manga and its sides:

_Sora was originally the one that got the phone call (though in Sora's own manga it's her that gets the phone).

_The family sounded more like assholes. They THREATENED the girls (pointed out by oi-tan) to obey ... I mean "we'd hate having to send you girls to foster families ..." was really sad.

_They ask Miu whether or not she knew how to contact her mother, oh my poor Miu.

_Miu was trying hard to stop herself from crying.

_Oi-tan sounded way cooler the way he said it.

(that was the funeral part, how everything went in the main manga in short)

__manga starts with oi-tan's past visit to the house

__backstory on oi-tan's family backstory, hints that his sister wanted him to know what a family felt like

__oi-tan goes to house

__he realizes (from the girls) that his sister left the girls to him for a week

__fun stuff

__welcome party to house from the girls

__family stuff

__Sora gets phone call

__funeral as above, evul family, poor little girls and heroic oi-tan

They started on the college stuff way too early, I mean most of the first episode was on sob sob sob girl rather than introducing the family and oi-tan's backstory ...

I really recommend everyone who enjoyed the show to read the manga, start with the main then read all the sides. They're all really good. A lot of manga streaming sites have the chapters very wrong.

I care. I'm sure it was better unfold in the LN (at least it definitely was in the manga). The director here is just doing a really bad job.

Papa no Iukoto is a really heartwarming tale of family, similar to Usagi Drop. Sure there's an abundance of fan service but if you can overlook that; it's really heart warming.

Yeah I roll the eyes up for the fan service. I just have fun mentioning what it was. They also do loads of comedy after some of the fan service to forget about it. It's a technique. It works, tends to on me.

Finally I got that link and the extra info is interesting.
