The Best Profile Design Contest is an official MAL Awards Contest. It takes place monthly starting on the first day of the month and ending on the last day of the month.

General Rules

No direct promoting of nominated profiles. Doing so will automatically disqualify the nominated profile. Users may not post "Thanks for voting for me/my friend/etc." graphics either during or after the Voting round is over. However, text on profiles with very little BBCode is allowed after the Voting round. If you have any doubts, ask an Admin.
Admins/Judges are not allowed to help a nominated user improve their profile. Doing so will disqualify the nominated user and the Admin/Judge will be removed from their position.
The Top 10 users that make it to the Voting round may improve their profiles until the 19th of the month. The Top 10 are requested to stop making improvements at said time.
Do not nominate or vote for a profile if the round has been closed by an Admin.

Nominations: 1st - 15th

Rules

You may nominate your own profile or someone else's.
The nominated profile design must be made by the nominated user (include credits somewhere in the profile).
There are no points for nominations, i.e. it does not matter if a profile gets nominated several times.
All nominated profiles will be evaluated by the judges.
The following cannot be nominated: (1) Active Admins; (2) Previous profile designs that have been in the Top 5 before; (3)The previous month's Winners.
If someone nominates your profile but you don't want to participate, please say so in the thread or via PM.
You can't nominate a user who doesn't have a profile (layout) at the time of your nomination.

Judging: 16th - 20th

During the Nominations round, Admins will find Judges to evaluate that month's nominated profiles.

Judge Requirements
Judges are not allowed to participate in the month's contest.
Judges must be unbiased and fair when giving scores to the nominated profiles.
Judges must be reliable in submitting their results on time to the Admin.

Users must message an Admin if interested in becoming a Judge.

Judges evaluate all nominated profile entries. Judges send their results to an Admin, and only the Top 10 profiles make it to the Voting round.

Judging Criteria
10% - Overall Appeal/Impression
10% - Content
20% - Concept Layout
30% - Creativity
30% - Overall Design

Voting: 21st - end of the month

Rules

Users can vote for a maximum of five profile entries, but must vote for a minimum of three.
Only users with 25+ forum posts may vote.
Enclose votes in a spoiler button.
Do not vote for profiles that are not in the Top 10.
Contestants may not vote for their own profile.
Follow the voting format.

Winners: Posted on the 1st of the next month

A point system is used to count the votes cast in the Voting round. Points will be given to profiles based on the order in which a user votes. The first profile choice get the most points and the fifth gets the fewest points.

The points given are:

1st Profile Choice = gets 5 points
2nd Profile Choice = gets 4 points
3rd Profile Choice = gets 3 points
4th Profile Choice = gets 2 points
5th Profile Choice = gets 1 point

The five nominated profiles with the most points at the time the Voting round is closed by an Admin are the Winners/Top 5.
