Spotlight Anime: Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori ![]() MAL Anime Information Page: Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori MAL Score – 8.22 (by 13786 users) Ranked - #250 Popularity - #345 For the next week I would like to have a discussion about the anime that focuses on the key elements that we here on MAL use to critically rate an anime: Animation, Sound, Characters, Story, and Enjoyment. I would like everyone to approach this thread as if you were going to write a review and structure your initial post like this: Animation - insert rating Sound - insert rating Characters - insert rating Story - insert rating Enjoyment - insert rating Animation - discuss any pros and cons of the animation styling used in the series, try to include some specifics. Sound - describe any of the things you liked or didn't care for in regards to the music and sound effects used in the series etc... If you are having trouble writing up a review or coming up with specific pros and cons, please don't worry. Just do the best you can with it and if you can only write two or three sentences about any of the 5 elements then that's OK. Not everyone here is currently at a level which will allow them to articulate their thoughts and opinions. After your initial post is made you can feel free to civilly discuss issues of contention. I am sure there will be many opinions expressed here that some of us will disagree upon and criticise and it is for that reason that this entire club exists. So I hope everyone has fun and I am really looking forward to watching this discussion unfold. RESULTS OF THE YOU DECIDE POLL Jigoku Shoujo Futakomori was NOT inducted into the club Anime list: 8 Yes - 33.3% 16 No - 66.6% 52 Don't know this anime - 68.4% of the total number polled 0 Abstained - 0.0% of the total number polled Modified by santetjan, 12-16-11, 8:10 AM You do not beg the sun for mercy. |

Convince me why I should even bother watching this. I've had enough of season one Plato is my friend — Aristotle is my friend — but my greatest friend is truth |

Because the episodic formula is handled a lot better than the first season. Plus, I found the last arc to be remarkably haunting and the perfect case of showing what is truely horryfying in Jigoku Shoujo(which is not those cool animation scenes that each episodes would have). -Fixing- |

So there is still a predictable formula? Plato is my friend — Aristotle is my friend — but my greatest friend is truth |

What do you mean what does he mean? =O ![]() If you're stingy then click on CLuClu! Please consider supporting the end of disenfranchisement on MAL. Purpose is subjective, therefore quality is subjective. |

Just watched the enough to vote. So far it seems just like the first season, art slightly better. Overused situations with expectable and dumb closings, a lot of potential going to waste because it's not psychological, horrific and analytical enough. It's stupid. ![]() Waratte Oemashou Sore ha Chiisana Inori |

I thought this was a solid squeal. It retains what made the previous season an effective horror, and plays around with the formula, throwing more twists in the stories than the first season did. True, the stories a a tad predictable; you can bet that someone is going to hell by the episode, but nonetheless effecting, and morbidly funny in the case of episode 10. I agree with Wilio, the last arc was haunting and made clear what is truly frightening. As far as it getting inducted, that is not likely to happen. The episodic formula is a detriment, and I'm sure many people stopped watching before the end of the first season because of it. However, I do think it is one of the better horror shows out there. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone. |

It's a first but I find myself in agreement with confucius about needing to be convinced to put any more time into this franchise. So far it appears that I only need to watch the last arc. Ladyxzeus's comment is pointing me away from even watching the minimum for this series. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah, I really like the show too, and I do think people make a mistake by dropping it too early. Laugh and the world laughs with you. Weep and you weep alone. |

I really like season 1 so far, but I think it has to be spread out. Like, if you watch an episode a week, it satisfies a bloodlust you never even knew you had :D But yeah, if you watch too much in a row, it's just too formulaic. Sort of like how monster-of-the-week sucks if you're marathoning it. “I can't stand pretty opinions!” |
