| I was also thinking that surely there must be a way to build a race track without disturbing the burial site. A Scilly man, surely. The population density is surprisingly high there, so maybe it's not as empty as it looked. Or perhaps all of them live in one place - there are 55 islands in total, but apparently at some point in history it might have been just one island. This is the result of the ice age, as Scotland is still rising after it was weighed down by ice, and in compensation the south is sinking. A Gallic tribe called the Veneti might have had settlements on the island during the Iron age (a few hundred years BC, they were eventually defeated by Caesar), but such ruins could even be of older origin. Fascinating stuff. |
