The curse of next gen anime strikes again. The previous gen mc is in shambles. That made me tear up but atleast he found something new to do with his skills and train the next gen.

Anyway back to the race and Kanata's scary. I was wondering why he slowed down back there and it was so he could tow with the siblings and reduce the time in the straight. What a guy. His overtaking gave me chills, just like how Takumi's driving used to give me chills. Like master like student. Btw those butt shots of the angels were hot. Kyoko nee san is amusing. She used to be a yankee for sure.

Battle of the Porsches, the Italian makes and Japan's GTR showing up an Audi.
Kai when he learns Kanata's instructor was his old rival.
Takumi having his rally career end in tragedy has trained Kanata to be a racing genius, knowing where on the course we're his disadvantages and deliberately using the siblings' slipstream to make up.
Forget the angels, show us more cars.
Eurobeat for this episode

so takumi fujiwara retired from racing because of an injury eh and is called the tragic rallyist

i wonder if ryosuke can do a surgery and treat him

so beckenbauer is more conservative or ordered driver while kanata is more liberal or freedom driver

its the second lap of the race now how many laps is this race anyway?

All that time Takumi used to train Kanata has payed off. Not only he uses a lot of the tricks Takumi used to pull off, he also seems much more aggressive in how he uses them. The Porshe academy boy is gonna have a tough time when the GT86 gets upgraded later.

Well it's no longer a manga spoiler, Shuuichi needed to "kill" Takumi because he was way too OP, but I'm glad that he is still a key part of the story in MFG.

Also FFS they are doing an amazing job with this adaptation. I could not ask for more!

Really couldn't let Takumi have a happy ending huh. That's just fucking sad that he can't race anymore...

A much more race focused episode which is always a plus. Varied track sections/turns, mutliple overtakes and actual use of slipstream was nice to see. Not to mention we got ourselves a good amount of eurobeat as the cherry on top.

sad that takumi got injured but at least he recovered and is doing well, still the GOAT regardless. really good episode with more good races and even 3 eurobeat songs in one episode, absolutely winning.

They had to nerf my man Takumi with an injury like that, god damn.

Am I the only one who thinks these Angel moments are out of place? Sure fan service so not complaining but the way they make the camera close up to them is weird.

  • The older girl Kyoko displayed a cool profile.
  • When a Porche entered the long straight, there was a change at the rear. That is a retractable / adaptive rear spoiler thing, right? (though spoilers for cars are not beautiful in general in my aesthetics. See this beauty without spoilers.)
  • As for the dialogue about slipstream, I'm not sure what the young sister's real intention. But the front car in the tandem may get some profit from slipstream. There is a notion that the front car is exempted from its wake turbulence by the existence of the following car. (I'm not sure if it's correct or not.)

You're not the only one. Seeing what's her name jealous about Kanata. Is getting anooying fast, and it doesn't help how she is supposed to be "attractive" and looks like goofy asf.

So the title of this episode was related to Takumi after all, huh?

It was very interesting to hear what he did after Project D, becoming an eventful champion of the British Rally Championship with his unbeatable talent on road rally, before making the move for the WRC itself. It's a big shame that his career was cut short due to having a serious accident due to a mechanical failure, but knowing that he's still in the racing business and raising a new generation of fast and talented drivers does make me smile. =)

The whole episode itself was full of intense racing and plenty of overtakes. Aiba is now in 3rd with his move on the Audi R8 on the huge straight, which is where the majority of the overtakes were made. Kanata did excellent in passing the Lotus and Alfa earlier, but he intentionally slowed down a bit before the long straight, just so that those two cars passes in again, giving him a chance to catch a "tow" with their slipstream, which Nozomi of the Alfa wanted him to do. I like her even more now! =D

Plus, I was satisfied with plenty of eurobeat music playing, so I hope that continues into the next episode for the 2nd lap of this long circuit. I'm expecting that Ferrari to be flying now that it's past the Lamborghini, so I'll be keeping a close eye on him.

well levi came in first now. hard to pass him i would say except for katagiri maybe.

i like how takumi's va came for doing the recap voice over.

great episode but like always i've been blue balled again. well not surprised since its part of initial d story and initial d loved to blue ball its watchers. i felt really sad for anime watchers who watched it weekly.

it was great to know more about takumi's life. seems like man made a good name for himself and some fortune too. happy for him. kinda sad that he had an accident but now he's well enough to pass on his techniques.. i mean a racer wants nothing more than passing his skills to the next gen. reminds me of his dad, i wonder how his dad reacted and stuff when he saw takumi's success, must have been proud and he's probably dead too in the current timeline (most likely).

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.

I feel like I'm forcing myself to watch MF Ghost just because it's a sequel to Initial D of sorts, and I enjoy cars. Initial D was bad enough with the "manly" and "masculine" attitudes, but MF Ghost takes it to a whole other level, and makes it even worse with the angels. It's cringe worthy, honestly... Can't even enjoy the rest of the anime.

This anime has the most annoying female characters. I enjoyed the race very much but the "angel" scenes and the "I'd hate to give that pretty girl with the ponytail a fright" put me off... No self-respecting racer would think and even consider such b***it during a race.

@Dripz2012 I think it's the mood (late night races in initial d were something else) and the fact that the characters aren't that intriguing atleast as of now. Initial-D charcecters had way more chemistry. Takumi and Itsuki's duo, Akina speed stars and their rivalry with red suns and other teams etc. We're 6 eps in and Kanata hasn't interacted much with anyone besides the girl, his mechanic and Aiba.

Takumi Fujiwara: The Tragic Rallyist, but how he'd get that title?

In the mountainous fog, Kanata can't see well, so he's going at this cautiously. All about Takumi was going well, until he went overseas and injured himself seriously, leading to his exile from racing. The questionable thing is his stint as an instructor, though that finally puts to rest the link between master and pupil. Once Beckenbauer goes for the attack, it leaves Ishigami behind for someone who's trained with simulators, who's now leading the pack. As for Kanata, Ogino's Toyota 86 may not be powerful, but the experience from MFG will shape his racing career.

Of the Angels, "Butt Bongo" Mami is sure the oddball, as the cars race ever closer to each other, nowhere near the finish line. Kanata against the Yashi-Kita siblings to help pull him ahead on the Kamaboko Straight since the downward force is the car's Achilles' Heel, as the race leaders enter the 2nd lap, as well as Kanata and the Yashi-Kita siblings.

Nowhere near the close, but still exhilarating.

I loved how all overtakes from this episode looked like. Very nice mix of cool visuals with fancy eurobeat tune playing in the background.

But putting the race aside, ouch... :( So Takumi Fujiwara had a serious accident not that long after starting his professional racing career. What a shame.

Tragic Rallyist Takumi Fujiwara?!?!? What a tragic tale indeed. For someone as beloved as Takumi to just be thrown along with the other background characters and for him to suffer a career-ending accident despite his skills, is far too cruel man. At least he's still active in the motorsport industry as a racing coach.

The excitement in this show is lovely, seeing all these fancy cars overtaking one another all in one race made it more interesting and less dull as compared to just 2 or 4 cars racing side by side. Yeah, definitely NOT as heated and intense as Initial D but still I particularly like the tiny rivalries among the racers near each other. The bring vibrant visuals coupled with a range of eurobeat tracks a blast to watch.
