This is a question that when do, ideally, rate the Anime? Do you start from episode 1? Wait it out in the middle? or do you finish the whole thing to give it a better judgement?

For me, around halfway, I throw in a mark but things can change on how the series going to end whether there's a sequel or not but based on what I just watched as a whole.

I think rating from episode 1 isn't the most convincing or ideal before a better judgement. So, what about you? When is your preferred time to rate the Anime?

When I've finished watching it. You can't just the entire experience without experiencing it entirely.

I used to feel pressured to give my ratings to shows I'm watching, even if I've only seen a single episode.

But now I usually rate a show after I finish it. Or half way through before I put it on hold, I'll still finish it but I'm not in the mood to watch it ALL right now. Depends I guess

I only rate the anime or manga after I finish it. But a exception would be when I’m dropping the anime before getting to the end.
I love anime!

Please read Reimei no Arcana. It’s a beautiful romance manga.

Usually after the show is finished, but if it leaves a great impression in the first few episodes I am motivated to rate it early (like dororo, new oregairu, etc.)

I rate anime twice.

(1) I give a rating after the 1st episode as a "first impressions" score based on how much I enjoyed it/potential.

(2) I re-rate the anime once I've completed it to see how I ultimately ended up feeling about the show.

This is fun for me to do because I like seeing where a show ended up actually being on my scale vs. my first impression.

It depends on how long the anime is. If it's like 12 to 25 episodes I'll just rate it at the end. If it's like 26 to 50 episodes I'll rate it when I'm like over half way through. If it's 50 to 100 I'll probably rate it when I'm like 75 episodes in. If the show is 100 plus episodes I'll probably rate it at around the 100 episode mark.

If the anime is around 12 episodes long, I usually rate it at the end. Other than that, I typically wait at least 6 episodes to rate a show.

Mine is similar to the preliminary review guideline.

4 episodes for 1 cour
6 episodes for 2 cours
8 episodes for 3 cours
10 episodes for 4 cours or more

For OVAs, I mostly start scoring them around 40% watch progress.

First episode ofc, as i often just drop the anime there and give it 1 if its so bad. But if its somewhat decent i give it 8-10 then change the score accordingly after each new episode comes out.

It really depends. I only start rating a show when something of significance happens and it leaves an impression on me, which I rate accordingly, otherwise I rate when the show ends.

Depends. For sequels, I usually rate at first episode, if it's not a recap or filler.

For animes I'm watching at first time, I can rate when I finish or when I feel the anime is so good or bad that I need to rate them after some episode. And sometimes I change the score after I finish.

After I finish it. If it's a long running anime that is still airing, I'll score it when I caught up with it.

Usually somewhere between the 1/3 and 2/3 mark (excluding really long running ones), not one point specifically. At a certain point with most anime I feel like I've gotten a pretty solid idea of what it has to offer, and that's generally when I decide to rate it. Sometimes I'm surprised and I move the anime up or down a few points, but I've been pretty on point with my midway opinions overall.

Then there are some anime that are so chaotic and unpredictable that I kinda just have to wait until the end before I can score it in good faith.

It helps that I only use 6 numbers for rating (and really only 5 for the vast majority), so most anime can fall into more clear-cut tiers.

I rate the shows only when I'm done. For shows with multiple seasons, I'll rate one season before going to the next one. Once I'm done with the second one, I'll go back to the first season to adjust my rating based on the second season

When I finish watching them because I want to give out a final score and keep it that way without changing it all the time as they air. One Piece is the only exception to this because even if it hasn't ended I still have seen enough to know what to give it.

I rate a show when I finish the first episode. I can always change the score if something interesting or cool happens, or lower it to the pits of hell if it disappoints.

Usually when I finish the show. I prefer to have completed the experience before rating it.

Shows with an enormous amount of episodes (100+) don't count though. I rate those whenever I feel like I have an image of what it tries to do with its resources and how it rolls with my taste.

I tend to watch shorter anime anyways so I always wait until I'm finished to rate it. I've often had my opinion of a show change radically just from the ending alone, so I always wait to pass judgement until then. For a longer series, though, I'd probably rate after 20 or so episodes.

For shorter animes: I give my score once I am finished watching.
With longer/medium animes: I give my score halfway through the series.

When I finished the show. Except for long shows that I don't watch regularly, or shows that are on-hold or dropped, I would give a score halfway for a self reminder of how I feel about the show. If I finish the anime and feel differently about it, then I change the rating.

I usually give my initial rating very early, after watching the first episode or two. As I watch more, I change my rating if necessary. Once I've completed the series, I take a last look at my current rating to make sure it reflects my overall opinion of the anime, and change it if I need to.

My final rating and my early rating are usually the same, or extremely close (1 point higher or lower). It's pretty rare that my early rating and my final rating are really far apart.

I score at the end when I'm entering the anime on my 'Completed' list because by then I'd have the complete picture of the show. For seasonals I typically give the score at the end (unless it's a long running title, for which I score based on my impressions of the first 20 episodes)

When I feel like I'm able to rate it according to how I feel about it. Sometimes I know after the first episode (although this can change as I watch), sometimes I wait until I finish, sometimes I leave the anime unscored because I still have mixed feelings after finishing. There's no rule.

I change my rating now, its after episode 1 of the anime. And its subject to change if the anime has drastically better or worse. If the latter then, that particular score does not change througout the runtime.

Older, binged anime usually around the time I've watched 50% of the episodes.

Seasonal anime instantly after episode 1, with constant revisits (and correction if needed) each new episode / week. Many of my friend list friends also vote early, so this is a bit like a slow discussion then.

I rate as I’m watching. Usually I will rate by episode 3 or 4. And I will reassess this rating after each episode or every second episode at a minimum until the show is completed. I sometimes look again at ratings I have given in the past and I may adjust them.

If it's a really long one then I'll rate it before finishing it just for myself, if it's short I usually(but not always) rate it after I finish it. None of my ratings are 100% final though and I regularly go back and change them if I feel the need to so i don't really stress about when I rate them.
