What's been the best invention created during your lifetime?
| What would you say is the "best" (by personal opinion) or "most important" invention(s) created during your life time so far, and why? I decided to make a poll on inventions created in the last 20-ish years, since that seems to be the general age range of MAL's demographic on the forums. Also, keep in mind that the invention(s) can be literally anything, even if it's just the Playstation 4 or what have you. Converse. |

Just to be a pick something a bit different from the typical stuff, I think the best invention of my lifetime are the large portable batteries that Tesla have been developing. Not so much for their use in cars either, but what they mean for energy generation, or rather energy storage; they mean that renewable energy sources like wind and solar power could actually become viable as primary power sources. Because these sources are dependent on weather conditions, sometimes they generate more or less energy than is needed, and so the electricity generated goes to waste or is inadequate. With these batteries we will be able to store the excess and get closer to meeting our energy demands constantly. It's not going to solve everything of course, but is a huge step in the right direction for one of the most pressing issues of our time. |
