I liked this one more than the first. The Sci-Fi was deeper. The hook was the old diplomat's question. So we evolved to the planet instead of shaping the planet to suit ourselves.

Pretty much everything you said. It was rather interesting to see this episode.

This ep was on a completely different level. The first had a lot of eye-rolling scenes and bad physics, while this was completely believable. Facial expressions and character movement was still a bit poor for a CG though.

I just wish i could rate them separately.

Personally, I didn't like this episode. The fungus just happened to not be dangerous? wtf yeah right. They'll probably die from cancer in 6 months. Those suits are quite a failure too it seems. How did the fungus spread through those hm? And no kiss at the end? Boo.

This whole OVA had way too many awkward staring-at-each-other scenes too lol.

This OVA got a 6/10 from me.

lol. Aya Hirano and Jun Fukuyama together... lovely indeed.

And fungi that eats dead cells and human sweat? Who would want to not live there?

Awesome one. So epically amazing one.

What a beautiful planet to live in.

Apparently, the spores has effects on the brain (simulate pleasure) so it makes everyone hippie lol....

I wish we can move on that amazing planet....

Much better than the first, although this one had the same basic parallels to, say, Avatar, etc. Tried and true romance/diplomacy/war story, with nature/spiritual symbiosis of sorts thrown in.

Still, I liked it a lot. Wish the romance was a bit steamier if you know what I mean.
Also, facial voice sync is not hard to do and there are very common technology today (look at the Oblivion/Fallout engine, Source engine games in video games alone. Very good lip/voice-sync).
Yet it's still not very good here, despite other state of the art visuals. >:/

Wow, I agree with you. Much much bettern than episode 1 but I think it is still weird at some point.
Who in the world would choose the life of a bomber-pilot over your girlfriend's life and your comrades' lifes?
Every person wants to life and every animal wants to life. Doesnt make sense to me that the flying potatoes sacrifice themselves in the end. The barley know each other...

But well all in all a nice episode.

In the end i thought:"Wtf...this idiot's gonna sacrifice everyone in the base including his lover and himself cause his is a big wimp and can't press a cute red button.
And then miraculously the living baloons save the day...spare me,please...

Yeah, well, no.

The physics in this one was awful too. Most obviously how those flying balloons, which couldn't possibly have had a significant mass, were able to completely stop rockets and jets.

Its cause they were playing a little bit with the story of Romeo and Juliet, where they'd both rather sacrifice themselves in the very end then start a war between families. At first I was weirded out by his decision, but I think it went well with his character.

Anyways I liked this episode much better than the first: the first one was just awkward... I mean the explosions, music and Space Pirates were cool (also the main girl named Maria also ended up with some sort of tragedy in her love story. Haaah, oh you trollin' company you xD) but... it just didn't hook me in very much. Also there was a lot more stiffness in Elliptical Orbit than there was in Symbiotic Planet.

But all in all, both episodes get a 7/10 in total from me. I enjoyed. C:

I believe it is the same spores shown attached to the jellyfish-like creatures, which breaks down waste into oxygen and hydrogen. This is a very possible situation.

About the suits, the filter might have not been fine enough to filter out the microscopic spores, or they might have had a very trace amount of it when the spores were released from the lab.

The "staring-at-each-other" scenes was to pinpoint the mood of a situation or relations from one character to another, hate, indifferent, love, etc. Considering this was forty-five minutes long, I found many of them necessary.

Without a kiss at the end, sure, I partially agree. A lot of opportunities for a kiss weren't needed, and otherwise the situation around them just was too... distracting maybe?

This second Ova, under the name of "Symbiotic Planet", was better the first one!
A new planet, the human will try to conquest this planet to get natural resources, but first they will be colonized. The problems start because 2 differents teams want this resources and the tension can create a war. Happy end for this story, when a symbiotic planet is the contradictory a breed, the humans, that can not life in peace!!!

6/10 for this ova.
