Japan will always stay a puppet state to great imperial America. Even if we give them the option of freedom, they will still conform to our ways and behave like our puppet because the American Dream is a greater dream than the Japanese dream.

imo China isn't very well positioned geographically in order to partake in any large ops in the middle east or the Mediterranean. I'm not saying it's impossible, China seems to have the necessary mobility for it. But I doubt that mobility would be put to use in response to a single hostage case. Most likely the Chinese would intervene subversively (if they can pass an asian for an honest jihadst of course)

ISIS are idiots. They think they're the central focus right now in the world, and they indeed are, for the general public. But politicians are using them as a disposable tool to achieve their own geopolitical goals. No doubt Putin is riding his cavalry right now onwards to making Europe his mistress, and turning USA into the cheated husband.

Uh...you do know their carrier and elements of the fleet are in the Med and the Atlantic lately, right? Also the distance land wise isn't much different than the routes the French would have to fly or march. Pakistan, Iran, Iraq all have good relations with China and would likely not deny transit, or they can use the Russian routes from the north.

That's not the most accurate entry actually. It all started when Kenji Goto was executed. After ISIS broadcasted his execution, online Japanese communities responded by turning it into a shitty little meme.

It's understandable really. The people responsible are trying to show that they won't be fazed by an act of terror. But holy fuck was it done in bad taste. Now whenever people think of Kenji Goto, a victim of extremist terror, they will also remember him as a catalyst to a shitty little collage of dumb photoshops and fanart.

If you'd read my comment you'd see that I did not dispute China's mobility. But the geography still makes it a 'stretch' to cause a full out commitment to the war. Russia's commitment is partially dictated by the fact that its borders are closer to the conflict region, and by the fact that Russia has important and very attainable geopolitical interests in Syria/Iraq.
Any military commitment of any country is always provoked by a collection of domestic and foreign policy factors. And the further the conflict area is from national borders, the more pressing these factors should be to justify it.

Well two oceans have help America With not waging war on the otherside of the Globe. China is a Major World Power now, it can affoard to dispatch aircraft, or even a few thousand marines, which I doubt it will in the later. China is closer to the Region than the US and could just share the Russian Airbase in Syria or unload troops at the Naval Base, I'm Sure Assad would welcome them.

As to the Ulghur as brought up by someone else. That is likely. And can't say I blame them, given who they are getting support from.

You know, what concerns me the most is not the isis, Russia or USA could beat their main force single-handedly in less than a year if they actually tried. It is actually the aftermath that would cause some diplomatic stir. After all this is actually a byproduct of Syrian war, a battle between Iran-Russian backed Assad government and the nato-israeli-saudi-taliban backed rebels. This is why Japan tried to distance themselves from the fight.

On the surface they might seems to work towards the same goal, but know that they are driven by different motives. The funny thing is isis is what maintain the status quo in the region.

China reaction on the other hand, is weird. Syria and Iraq is not within their zone of interest nor sphere of influence. Diplomatically this would not gain them any credits with either side since China has no allies involved in the conflict. This is at most would only act as parade for them to display their military projection capabilities, which I think is wasting too much money for publicity, unless they have plans to use the approval boost from their people to do something else after.

I wouldn't say that, China gets a bit of oil out of Iran, so if they have an interest its likely supporting the Iranian objective, which is really what this Anti-ISIS op boils down to is Oil Control and If Assad stays or goes.

If it has any far reaching objectives its likely to turn the SCO into a military Alliance. Plus there could be some other things behind the sceans that are of interst to China, such as further Economic intergration with Russia, or some sort of promise from Assad.

On face value it has shit all to do with ISIS for the most part for most of the major players. Cold War 2.0, Maybe Hot War 3.0

No point in wasting resources, on a war the west is already wasting resources on.
Domestic focus is always key, and dominance in the south china sea even more key than a rag tag group of miltants in a nation that has fallen apart due to Western involvement.

That's just lip service China is not going to retaliate in anyway against ISIS. China is not going to get involved in the Middle East at all because of the negative effects it has had on Russia and America. If China became the primary target for Muslim terrorist aggression like what happened to the Soviet Union in the 80's and America & Western Europe in the 21st century it would be screwed. China is close to Central Asia which is mainly Muslim, is communist like the Soviet Union, has a large Muslim population in Guangzhou.

Which is likely why they want to get into it. The Muslims in the West have gotten fairly bold, more so with weapons that China has all but offically confirmed are comming from US sources in Afghanistan. Not htat they can't confirm it, just if they do it leaves China with one offical response left. Its partly because of this China how has some Armored Division in the area near the Afghan border.

The Islamists in that region are getting restless. If China does anything, it iwll be a crackdown in its own lands, or offer of support to the Afghan Government. Maybe some planes and Pilots to Syria. Or more of its "security companies" being deployed in the region. Though this isn't like the US Attempts or the Former Soviet. Pacification is hard, Conquest and destruction of a single target isn't.

Plus Assad does have some popular support at home, so no power vaccum if he remains.

China will seriously act against Islamic terrorists in China that carry out attacks on its own country but it's not getting involved in the Middle East. ISIS isn't a single target to be destroyed. ISIS is made up of mujahideen just like Al Qaeda and can draw mujahideen from anywhere in the Middle East and the world.

Thats likely why the focus of the War will shit to more..practical if bloody tactics. Though the best way to beat ideas is with better ones and economics. No one is going to fight near fine China. Problem is the global economy isn't in a position to make that happen without standards falling elsewhere. Which in turn leads to some other extremists. The only way to stop ISIS short of home turf support, however is one step no one has taken.

To make the counter so brutal they dare not raise a hand again. Which would entail a massive genocide.
