For some reason, I thought I had already replied to this thread, but I guess not? :/

Anyway, my very first manga magazine was Shounen Jump but my first actual manga series that I started and finished reading was Fullmetal Alchemist. Rurouni Kenshin was my second manga that I read and finished, and I think D.Gray-man and InuYasha were ones I started but dropped.

It's only one volume and the pages are pink.
Bought it at my middle school's book fair.

Air Gear was the first manga I ever picked up and completely finished reading. I actually never got into reading manga until many years after getting into anime. When I had first watched through all of Ranma 1/2 some sixteen years ago, I had no idea back then that the anime was an adaptation of a printed on paper form, that's how little knowledge I had of manga back then lol.

Manga was always something I found hard to commit to, but have recently taken it up again, and have been committed to reading so many chapters every day since.

I started off with X. Think I saw it in a magazine first. I didn't know what was going on with the story but it seemed cool and the art was very pretty.

I think everything in this world is beautiful. The sky, birds, bugs, frogs, flowers, and even rocks. Because, if God created this world, could there really be anything dirty and ugly in it?

Hi everyone, new here :).

I have been reading comics for several years now, but decided it was time to dive into Manga.

I looked up some popular series/collections and have started slowly adding to each:

1. Vagabond
2. Vinland Saga
3. Gundam Origin
4. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind Box set
5. Just ordered the first few of one punch man.

So far I have read the first two volumes of Gundam origins. The art is fantastic. The translation is sometimes... odd. I started reading Vagabond the other day and do not find this same issue, the overall translation seems great.

In general I enjoy the differences between Western comics and Manga. It does take some getting used however. One thing that really stood out is the size/paper quality differences. I prefer to collect my Western comics in Deluxe hardcover format (Hellboy Library editions, etc...). So when I first got the Gundam Origins hardcovers I was surprised at the small dimensions but I am used to it now :).

Another.

I started watching the anime a couple years ago, and while intrigued, I couldn't really get into it. It just felt, I don't know, kind of awkward, and didn't hook me. I saw some people online saying the manga was better, so I decided to take the plunge and just buy the omnibus off Amazon, as I was curious about manga in general. One of the best decisions I ever made, and now I have a manga collection of around 150 volumes. Manga >>>> Anime :D

First one I read was Ranma 1/2 in middle school. I had no means of getting it except through the school library so I asked if they could buy it and the librarian said she'd look into it. Next time I came around, she said there was nudity in it so they're not sure if they can get it, but I must've looked pretty bummed out or ready to cry. xD

She got the manga for me. xDDD

The first manga I've read was Uzumaki (the horror manga). Got into manga reading ever since. That was like last year.

I finally found a fairly expensive hard cover of it a year after completing and it's waiting for its reread beyond chapter 4 as of now.
